  1. Excited Zips start kicking. A few things in there that I didn't know. I'm excited to get the season started.
  2. TexanMark, is it true that 'Cuse fans have bought over 3,000 tickets already?
  3. So what time does Lot 34 open up for tailgating? With the kickoff around 6pm...is 1pm too early to set up? I know some places let you set up early and they just send someone around to check for passes or take money. Will Lot 34 be a cash lot in 2010? I still haven't received my tix/parking passes so I don't know which yet we'll be in yet...but want to find out about the lots in general and 34 specifically as that is one of the ones I heard we could be at. Lot 34 is a cash lot. It's too far away to really be considered for a premium lot. If you want to take a look on a map, it's the paved lot on the corner of Wolf Ledges and Carroll streets. Other options might by lots 27, 20, 35, 47, and 42. Wherever you end up, expect to walk about 1/2 mile to get to the stadium. Parking wasn't as important when designing the stadium as simply putting it on campus instead of 5 miles away in the suburbs like the Rubber Bowl. Check the campus map for a good look. Be sure to click either the hybrid option in the google map, or the "dimensional map" tab at the top for two better views. Looking at that map, has anyone ever parked over in lot 54 on the edge of route 8? Might be a fun place to raise the flag and get some reactions from passing drivers. Last year that was the handicapped lot, with shuttles to take them to the stadium.

  5. Mac-Sports.com in-depth Akron football preview. This is actually a very good write up.
  6. Redshirt = scout team He won't learn one more thing on scout team at the end of the year that he doesn't know right now. Not starting Nicely this year would be like not running your fastest, healthy horse in the Kentucky Derby because you want to breeze him some more so he knows how to run around the track in a circle. No offense Zach, but offering the idea to redshirt potentially one of the best QBs in the league is an example of how comfortable UofA fans have become with losing and the "building process". The Zips have 12 games THIS YEAR, not next year. Fans have bought tickets for this year, not next year. Fans want to see winning this year. It's time to start winning. 20+ years of losing and "building" is enough for me. I can't take it anymore. I'm not saying that's what we should do unless Nicely will sit anyway. I'm saying that if Rodgers wins the job, we shouldn't let Nicely waste a year on the bench if there's the option to redshirt. As for him not learning anything that he doesn't already know, you're telling me that he has a 100% knowledge of a brand new, fundamentally different offensive scheme that he's never played before after just a month or two of practice? He's perfectly comfortable taking snaps under center after spending his entire life in the shotgun spread?
  7. 22 Exchange is nearly complete. they predict 100% occupancy by the end of the week. All that's left is to fill out the store fronts. A convenience store would be ideal, and probably a cash cow.
  8. Whether it makes any money is dependent on how well they market this.Simply having a sign up for a week outside the entrance to EJ Thomas won't do. There needs to be something in both the student union and Polsky.
  9. Akron wins the poll! Next up: Women's soccer poll. Let's show the MAC we have the best fans in the conference by predicting us to win every single fall sport.
  10. Most of the old folks who had priority for Lot 9 this season chose to park elsewhere. I think they knew that Lot 9 was a main tailgate lot and they don't like tailgating.
  11. Timmy Knipp gives a verbal to EKU.
  12. He will be getting a scholarship. Or at least that's what he's telling people.
  13. What's our scholarship situation?? Gilliam counts toward the 2010 scholarship class. There were six scholarships open for 2010, so Walsh has to pay for the year he sits out? Does that happen often? I thought he got his release from Xavier. We have 4 scholarships opening for 2011, assuming no more transfers. Harney, Justice, and Treadwell get three of them for certain. Walsh would seemingly get the fourth unless either Bardo (a grad student could get some other type of financial aid) or Roberts (went back to being a walk-on?) gave up a scholarship to open one up in 2010.
  14. We'll still get to hear Frank Stams, just not on the radio. He's been hired away to work on Sports Time Ohio. It's a good bet that he'll be doing the MAC games.
  15. EJ Thomas Hall is an incredible waste of money. Dump the high-brow crap completely and start bringing in weekly shows for the students. Also, The UPA head guy has a new plan.
  16. LeBron confuses everyone not from Akron, via Twitter.
  17. Interesting. I do wonder why he isn't listed anywhere on any recruiting sites.
  18. http://scoutingohio.com/index.php/componen...article/72.html Currently based off of ScoutingOhio, and soon to have its own web address. Also, I think I found out what Reno Ferri is up to these days.
  19. Scout.com says OG Travis Switzer has verballed to Akron. He also had an offer from Buffalo.
  20. Gabe Gilbert verbals to Toledo
  21. I don't think gczip22 would come here and create an account just to screw with us. One way you can help your case is to tell us which year he graduated from high school. 2010? 2011? Something else? Just something to narrow it down a little bit.
  22. I don't think he has anybody left this season. It's almost too late to go out and get anybody now unless they're a JUCO with experience in the schemes we're running. I would like to see LeVon Morefield earn a scholarship as a senior and complete his amazing underdog story.
  23. Dambrot has been using converted SGs to run the offense since Dru Joyce graduated. In his mind, you don't need a "pure" PG on the team to be successful. But remember when both Humpty and Ronnie Steward were touted as the PG of the future? They were great PGs in high school, but it didn't translate to college where Humpty was better as an SG and Steward never had a chance to develop.
  24. Great to see them get a win. And great to finally see another sporting event on campus. And yes, the reason they moved up the start time was because the lights still aren't working.
  25. No reason given for his departure. Looks like he left on Monday, after giving the new coaching staff a try.
