  1. Rasor stopped by camp today. Some info we haven't heard yet.
  2. Sunday's training camp report, extra crispy style: Weren't some of you saying earlier that it wasn't Ianello's job to promote the team and that task should fall on the AD's shoulders? Looks like Ianello's fine with promoting his team when he wants to. Makes you wonder where the golf outing went or the player interviews for the MAC website.
  3. Rossi seemed to be highly coveted by WVU as a Linebacker. A great pick-up for our 6th verbal. I can't figure out how many scholarships we have for this class because the new roster hasn't come out to see who has transferred. Anyway, here are two more offers: S Valaugn Griggs ATH Matt Losiniecki
  4. Zipmeister, walk-on tryouts for the University of Akron football team are being held on Thursday, September 9th at 6:00 PM. If you're interested in trying out, you can pick up papers from the offices in the JAR. I think you might be too tall for the cornerback position, but you could probably make the starting PK spot without much effort.
  5. Rodgers is athletic enough to be used in a wildcat formation. I think whoever somes up short in the competition will still see playing time. Vegas thinks Rodgers is more talented than Nicely.
  6. They should make it a sports bar type campus restaurant for students and the general public. Keep it open 365 as a hub for Akron athletics. They already have a license for alcohol. it would make sense, but we can't do it along Exchange. Eminent Domain says you can't tear down a business to replace it with that same business. You can't tear down a bar and then put a bar there. One of the things holding back the team shop is that B&N wants to sell coffee and candy, but they can't because the Odd Corner already did that in the same location. One place that would work fine legally would be on Spicer, next to the new dorms.
  7. When I drove by today, it looked like practice was open to the public. They had attracted a couple dozen spectators standing around, sitting in the stands, or wandering around the stadium.
  8. Andre Jones no longer appears on the Chiefs' roster.
  9. They're still working on the locker rooms. Nothing has started in regards to the grandstand yet. They have two weeks from today to get it done. First game is a women's soccer game on the 20th, where all the men's season ticket holders can pick up their scarves and ticket packages (if you can't make it they'll mail them to you). So 14 days to complete it. But in just 7 days the women's team is playing an exhibition game against Wright State, so it have to in at least good enough condition to allow fans to watch. I don't see the grandstand (and pressbox) being finished by Friday next week.
  10. Paul E. Martin, Class of '34 passed away yesterday. Rest in peace, Paul.
  11. I don't think Staten is going to make it. But we do have a good stable of young RBs to take over after Allen graduates.
  12. Thanks for the info. Do you know if he has a highlight video for his junior year as well?
  13. Will there be any guards left? Maybe we just have to hope Ennis sticks by Akron while we stay with him through his renewed recruiting.
  14. Jawon Chisholm passes summer class and gets called up an hour later by UA. Should be here by tomorrow.
  15. Players missing from the 2010 roster, as compared to 2009 roster as of 8/5/10: Seniors: DB Tyler Campbell LB Viktor Rajek WR Richard Sandilands OL Jason Sekinger Juniors: P Eric Lee LB Da-Von Moore WR Shawn Roberts LB Aaron Williams Sophomores: DE Abdullah Homayed OL Adam Bice WR Nadir Brown - transferred to Nassau CC DB Thomas Miller LB Nate Schuler DB Norman Shuford - transferred to Grand Valley State RB Devoe Torrence - transferred... somewhere? QB Jared Wackerly Most of them will show up again once the roster is updated to include the freshmen.
  16. Any source? Facebook. He's now at Nassau CC.
  17. Sophomore WR Nadir Brown has transferred out. I expect we'll learn about more transfers in the coming days.
  18. Should be coming out soon. Other MAC schools are releasing their OOC schedules.
  19. Per @ZipsFB, which is coach Ianello's twitter, camp is starting with "Open competition at all positions. We're going to put the best players on the field. High tempo practice in the summer heat!" Do you think any starters from last year will get bumped?
  20. I talked to the guy that is running it. "We are doing everything we can to get it up and running, but we are dealing with a LOT of issues" Maybe this is one of them? Maybe, but it's not exactly run by the University; it's run by Barnes and Noble. Which leads me to believe that this is the biggest issue on the table.
  21. What about David Meves? He only allowed seven goals the whole season. Maybe next season. A significant portion of his low goal total could be attributed to his defense not allowing any opportunities to take a shot on goal in the first place. I have no doubt Meves is one of the best keepers in the country. But he was playing behind the NCAA's greatest defense of all time. Voters can use that to justify leaving him out. Besides, he'll be on the list at the end of the season, when it really counts.
  22. http://www.collegesoccernews.com/index_files/Page413.htm Nagbe and Ampai make 1st team. Kofi made 2nd team. Zarek Valentin seems to be the biggest omission.
  23. They are working on the interior. I don't know if it will open in time for football season, but at least it's not an empty building anymore.
  24. Glad we spend on time on the soccer forum talking about our number one soccer team and not the Buckeyes. Come on we've got nothing to be jealous about here. Nothing to be jealous about. But we do have the opportunity to go to Columbus and beat them up on their home turf again this season.
  25. 2 years ago against Wisconsin, we were down 17-10 coming out of halftime with the ball. The kickoff was ran back for a TD to tie and gain all the momentum, but the refs called a block in the back and put us back behind the 50. We lost momentum and they bowled us over for more than 400 yards rushing. Remember in the middle of the JD years the O-line was good for about 50 yards worth of penalties per game, always at the worst times. We were consistantly one of the most penalized teams in the country. Can Ianello reverse that?
