  1. Yes! This is the attitude we need here. No more excuses, no more blaming the system, no more accepting mediocrity. It's time to say F-you to the BCS, the NCAA, the nay-sayers, and anybody associated with the university who accepts our current situation. It's time to man up. This goes for all sports.
  2. I would guess that somebody who played QB in high school that is not a major contributor on the team this year is filling that position. It makes sense, but there's an ad running in the Buchtelite for a walk-on QB.
  3. Frenchy is correct. The Rowdies got a bus together at the last minute and made the trip. The team didn't know we were coming. The weather was very mild there and it was too bad that we had to come back to freezing temps. The game should have been a blowout, but VT got very lucky a couple of times. They're a good attacking team and can score goals; this was only their third time being shutout on the season. Now let's hope they can knock off some top ACC teams and boost our RPI.
  4. So, does anybody here have some eligibility left and would like to play for the football team? I hear we have an opening for a 3rd-string QB spot. How awesome would it be for one of us to get that "inside" look at how things really are, even if you are forbidden to post about it during the season. You could come back a much better educated fan with some new perspectives.Really though, we need a 3rd-string QB on the team to run practices effectively and the coaching staff is willing to take anyone they can get at this point.
  5. You can meet the team this saturday, October 17th in the JAR at 5:30 PM. It's the official meet the team event with all the stuff that goes along with it.As soon as it's over, the volleyball team and men's soccer team will both be playing NIU so you can catch a game of your choosing or weather preference.
  6. Does anybody have a link to the gametracker? I looked for one but I can't find it.Thanks in advance. It is a long drive. Might be worth it to see the Zips beat an ACC team. Can't we get a game on TV one of these days?
  7. http://blog.cleveland.com/sunpress/2009/10...rug_dealer.htmlHe was killed while dealing drugs to minors in Cleveland Heights. While I feel terrible for his family, I'm starting to see a pattern when it comes to walk-on transfers and it's not a good one.
  8. Here's my address to JD: DON'T HOLD THE PLAYERS BACK. Let them test themselves to see their full potential, and then work to improve from there. Don't guard them from themselves.
  9. We're going to finish the season 6-6 or 7-5. I'm calling it. You worry about the future, but I will remain with the team's mentality. I saw more fight in the players than I have all year. They will make or break this season, not the coaches, and I believe that they will come together and make something good happen.
  10. This may be the best thread I've read on Zipsnation. When the fanbase starts hating each other, it's a sign of healthy growth and reasonably high expectations.
  11. It's designed to scare away all the nuts fans on their campus.
  12. I would be highly against this. The streets the U closed for the Landscape for learning really limited access to downtown, and the city really didn't take well to that. Closing another very high traffic street for "university space" would create a lot of furor that the University doesn't want to deal with.I'm for this, if it gets transformed into a walkway like Front Street in Cuyahoga Falls, with shops lining both sides of the street. But only if the city did it on its own. UA shouldn't be involved in that kind of civil planning stuff unless it directly affects the university.
  13. This should be the toughest game for the next month (till the NCAAs). Va Tech's a good squad, not the New Jersey Generals of the ACC.I would say that both the Michigan and Buffalo games will be tougher than VT.
  14. I don't know. Do we have any 4-year starters that graduated last year, because then they could play a 5th year of eligibility on the football team as the kicker, so long as they aren't playing professionally.
  15. Rodgers tore his ACLHe's pretty much done for the season. Normally I don't have much sympathy for players, but Matt's story has been terrible. He gets thrown to the wolves in his first two starts and just when he starts to find confidence and show what he can do he is done. He was the champion of his recruiting class, effectively being the glue for the incoming players that year.
  16. Men's Soccer wraps up their four game road trip on Tuesday in Blacksburg, VA when they take on Virginia Tech. VT plays in the tough ACC, but they are not one of the top teams in that conference and are currently on a three game losing streak. They did manage to beat NC State, however.A win is good for the SOS. VT plays a gauntlet of a schedule that should translate to a good RPI.
  17. Rodgers had just started to look good before the injury.I think that he'll have a role on the team in the future. He has some nice playmaking abilities and could be used as a scat-back type player.
  18. Whoever wins, we lose.
  19. Holy crap they suck. They are the reason the Zips lost. Don't try to pin it on anything else. They are directly responsible for a 19-point swing in the game. Gave up 2 TDs and cost the Zips 6 points.
  20. Way to go Ampai! THAT is why he was put on the Hermann Trophy watch list.
  21. Thanks! Please keep us updated. I can't get the gametracker to work on my phone.
  22. There are none that I can find.WMU is broadcasting it on their website on TV, but you have to pay to see it (edit: maybe not. looks like the women's game from last week instead). Something that Akron needs to do for at least football now that the stadium makes it easy to film.
  23. You're kidding, right? There is so much parking within three blocks of Canal Park that I have never had difficulty finding a space.Anyway, the thing that downtown Akron is missing the most is retail. There aren't enough shops or variety to convince people that it's worth it to go downtown to shop, even if it would be closer than one of the malls.
  24. Hey -- What is the rating the Captain posted on the front of the site? p.s.: "Somewhere in the top 5"? Anywhere but FIRST will send me into amazement.Whatever rating the Captain posted, it's not the RPI from the NCAA's website. And the RPI is a weird thing. I don't know if they count margin of victory in soccer, but they don't in basketball. It's based almost entirely on strength of schedule, which is why a team from the ACC or Big Ten with one loss could be ahead of us.
