  1. I voted for both 12k and 8k.12k for events and concerts, or basketball games as needed, but 8k for most games.
  2. The first official Men's soccer RPI comes out on Tuesday. It gets released every two weeks after that, until the conclusion of the College Cup.I expect Akron to be somewhere in the top 5.
  3. A good idea. If an arena can draw in lots of out-of-town visitors for events, hotels will be one of the first to benefit.
  4. Article on our newest GA working for Dambrot, Laura Klimchock
  5. The Beacon Journal's Michael Beaven has written a pair of articles about Zak, after a trip to Columbus when the Sounders defeated the Crew 1-0.ArticleQ & A with Steve
  6. What was wrong with the E.J. label? It looked ok.What E.J. Label? It's not even there. That's my point. I'll look again, but I couldn't even see it.You have to zoom in one level, but it's there.
  7. The Broncos are up next on the schedule for the soccer team. Coach porter is going back to his hometown of Kalamazoo.Article on coach porter in the Kalamazoo Gazzette.WMU Message Board
  8. His resignation is effective starting November 1st. Until that time he will remain suspended pending the investigation.
  9. Now let's hope you're right.Seems like Akron is having an off night, statistically. One more goal will seal the deal.
  10. Tied 0-0 at the half.
  11. Last I saw, it was going to be 53 but sunny.
  12. Hell sell it by pointing to everything that comparable arenas in nearby cities bring to those communities, something that Akron is sorely missing. We don't have real concerts downtown like Toledo or Dayton, or even Canton. Lock 3 is only good for three months out of the year. There is an attitude in Akron that if you want to be entertained you have to leave the city. An arena would begin to change that.
  13. Funny that on the Macbbs board they locked a jupitertoo thread where he tried his decade-old tired rant/schitck. Now he's on the Rasor blog under the name joe desjardines with the same schitck. The guy has no life, and is so consumed with jealousy it boarders on creepy. Actually, it crosses the line.Is that him? Here I thought I was arguing with some Can't grad. That's what we all thought when he first showed up on here and on Macbbs a few years back.
  14. http://www.ohiomm.com/blogs/zips/2009/10/a...-toledos-arena/Rasor has reported that Tom Wistrcill took Hunter Yurachek and a guy from First Energy with him on a trip to Toledo to check out the new Lucas County Arena. It's pretty much the exact same thing that the city of Akron wants to have. The only exception is that UA could share the arena with the city and have all the mens basketball games there, which is something that UT can't do because they're not located downtown like UA is.
  15. I think student attendance will be the highest yet because there are no wristbands to artificially limit attendance. It is homecoming, which usually gives us our highest attendance of the year, so I'll say we'll see 24k with 10k students.
  16. My toaster runs on netBSD
  17. He turns 90 years old on SaturdayHe is responsible for many of the things that UA takes for granted now like creating the Honor's College and inventing Zippy, among other things.
  18. Giving away tickets for free to everybody is a bad idea. Instead, they could market them as a top 25 team and play them up as something fans should be excited to pay to see. That's what we're doing at Akron, and it's obviously working. As far as trying to post stuff on the OSU messageboards, the only one that remotely cares about soccer is jjhuddle.com where we also discuss Zips soccer occasionally.
  19. So you're saying that we'll be hearing something very soon, then?
  20. We're being advertised on their website. They're going for a "redout".That's how you build excitement for a big game using your athletic website. Put up something that is impossible to miss.
