Nothing can help our ranking. We can have the world's greatest educational institution but we would still be in Tier 3 because of two factors: open enrollment and the "reputation survey" conducted by USNWR that counts more than any objective stats that they have.

Can't loses 5 scholarships in football.

Doesn't look like the rain will let up, but the best thing about Firestone stadium is that most of the stands are underneath a roof to keep you dry. :screwks: :screwks: :screwks:

CMU has a 60-foot tall Dan LeFevour banner hanging right in the middle of Detroit's pro sports complex. We need to do the same thing in Cleveland.
-
Can't's billboards didn't have any actual information on them. A large sign with the dates and times of our home games would provide people with something that they can use when they want to go to a game.

There's a giant banner with the complete 2009 football schedule hanging on the JAR.

Just for the record, Massillon doesn't have any "paw prints" that go out into the streets. Actually, I don't think they have any on the roads near their football stadium. However, I would like to see some kangaroo prints by the Info! Mogadore does this for their football stadium. (Wildcat paws if I'm not mistaken)We HAD kangaroo prints leading up to the Rubber Bowl. They're still painted on the roads, although they're fading.

The Zips are taking on Can't State at Firestone Stadium for the MAC softball tournament at 5:00PM on Wednesday, May 6th. Anybody that can make it should get out there and hope it doesn't get rained out. I don't want to see a Zips team lost to Can't in a tournament, ever.

Williams signed a 3-year contract with the Browns. I'm sure he'll make the team because he has just the kind of attitude that Mangini loves in football players.

Bumping this back up for all the new ZN members that have joined in the past year. Seriously, join the facebook pages. We're currently 10th in the MAC in terms of Facebook fans. That's pathetic. We only have 3,600 fans, while BG has 8,400 and Ball State has over 15,800 fans for the football app.We are #1 the MAC in basketball, but only with 2400 fans. Come on. We're the freaking MAC champions and I know we have more fans that that unless all those people at the Q were Buffalo fans in disguise.

It's prediction time!@Penn State - Akron pulls off the shocking upset in a 47-31 win over the Nitpicking Lions thanks to Chris Jacquemain's play at QB under the direction of QB coach Walt Harris, who's name sends PSU fans into a frenzy still to this day.Morgan State - Akron sets some school records in the grand opening of Infocision Stadium as the Zips win 105-3 with at least 6 TDs coming directly as a result of Carlton Jackson fumbles. Indiana - The Zips win once again with a score of 24-17. Special teams scores 17 of our points.@CMU - The Zips continue their win streak after Dan Lefevour injures himself while hitting on one of the Zips dance team members.BYE - BYE always puts up a tough fight, but I think the Zips will pull it out.Ohio - The bobcats stand no chance against the Zips in their homecoming game. Frank Solich later seen driving away from the Barley House after consuming several gallons of beer, and then getting arrested for repeatedly running over the metal Zippy at the campus McDonalds in his drunken rage.@Buffalo - Akron forfeits this game as a result of the team not having any passports to allow them into Canada@Syracuse - not being able to get into Buffalo, the Zips continue driving until they reach Syracuse, where they promptly dismantle the oranges causing to have an aneurysm. @NIU - Another Zips win here. Akron receives exactly one vote in the coaches' poll. Can't State - Can't's kicker tries to redeem himself by attempting a 99-yard FG, which is blocked straight backward by Jalil Carter through Akron's uprights for a quick 3 points for the Zips. The Zips take this one easily.Temple - We finally take our revenge. Temple responds by dropping out of the MAC citing their intent to join the Sun Belt where they might get a winning season.@BGSU - Things look bleak for the Zips until Nikki McCoy, despondent for being kicked off the Falcons' WBB team, returns to help Akron by throwing a drinking-game party at the BG bench.EMU - No insane special teams plays this time, as the Zips easily knock off the Eagles to end the regular season. The MAC finally kicks EMU out of the conference who are quickly picked up by the Big Ten to replace Michigan after they go winless in football.

New electronic football brochure for InfoCision Stadium

But they'll still complain. -
Closing Exchange would be a mistake because it's the only main road you can use to get to campus, but I'm all for turning Spicer into a gigantic community tailgate area for all the students with the fraternities ans sororities all lined up there.I absolutely love the design of the stadium and what they're trying to do, but I also fear that it's just a bit too small. I hope they have plans for when the need arises for a major expansion. 30k won't get us into a major conference.

Yeah. The people who will complain about parking are ridiculous. Have they ever been to a sporting event in Cleveland? Akron has so much empty parking downtown that it's absurd. There's an entire empty parking deck next to the Gojo building, there's always room in the O'Neils deck behind the Barley House, there's a deck between Inventure place and Quaker Square, there's the deck for the Knight Center, and the muni deck next to the courthouse, all of which are nearly completely empty on weekends. There's the surface lots across from Canal Park, too. Many of the campus lots are empty on weekends, like the one by the Chapel and the Polski deck. If there's nothing going on at EJ Thomas there's a deck underneath there. They're doubling the size of the deck on Exchange, too. -

If they live in on-campus housing, they have to park in the residential lots, which don't take up all that much space. -
Those improvements are because we're hosting the MAC outdoor track championships in two weeks. Whatever they're doing, it will have to be done quickly. The entrance won't be accessible because of the stadium construction, so they will be using the old entrance which is just a gate in the fence.

Lots of information packed into that site such as the parking situation.Who has signed up to win the suite? -
Keep it up. 6-3 is very good for a first-year team built almost entirely by word of mouth. Winning breeds more winning, just as losing breeds more losing, and you're on the right side of the cycle.

Hmm....I wonder why Akron hoops doesn't have this problem...I wonder how it would affect their recruiting. When do APR sanctions go into effect? If it's in 2009 it could cause some problems for them but it wouldn't affect their pursuit of Payne. If it's in 2010, things could get interesting.

Some of you remember May Day as being parties that devolved into drunken riots over the years, which is why the cops have the area locked down tight years after the fact. For at least the past four years there really hasn't been anything at all to speak of because the entire Akron PD was swarming the place as some type of "pre-emptive measure". Same at Can't but they are a bit more leniant there. Before the parties there was an official end-of-the-year celebration held by UA. I think that if they went back to that things would be fine. One thing I am hoping for is that by having the stadium downtown it will teach the police how to handle tailgating and large events like the Cleveland PD handles Browns games. Right now they don't really have that experience in an urban setting since tailgaiting was confined to a single field with no real access to anywhere that people could cause trouble.

That article is ancient. It was about when one of our '09 LBs comitted. I think it was Abdallah Homayed.

Paterno pushing For Big10 to Expand to 12

Rutgers would jump much quicker than Pitt or 'Cuse would. Rutgers is a football school in a basketball conference and one of the main proponents of the Big East splitting. -
