  1. I've noticed that Payne's high school coach has a habit of telling people what they want to hear when it comes to recruiting. I still find it interesting that we're still being mentioned occasionally along with all those schools that get you press just by saying their name on your recruiting list. If it was all about selling this kid, we wouldn't ever have been mentioned at all.
  2. The A-10 sends multiple teams to the NCAA tournament consistently every year. They sent 3 teams last year. Four different A10 teams were ranked or received votes last season. Mid-major? I don't think so...but its close...This explains it extremely well.Look at the A-10's budget. They are by no means a "mid-major" conference.
  3. More up-to-date than this story? It's 8 hours old?! Unless you had breakfast with him, I'm thinking this is the most up-to-date account out there. The story is new, but the information is old. We knew he canceled his visit two weeks ago.
  4. OSU is pretty much off the board. They're hardly pursuing him at all any more, from Payne's own comments which are more up-to-date than this story.
  5. I heard about Missouri being a candidate for expansion a few years ago. We always think about what would happen to the Big east, but what if the Big XII was the one needing another team? What kind of chain-reaction would that create?
  6. Put this up on the MAC board and you'll see every single possibility you could imagine being thrown out there. We're the conference that needs to either expand or contract. None of the others face a scheduling problem like the MAC does, except for the Big East with their 7-game conference slate. In fact, if you don't mind, I'll put this up on the MAC site now and see what becomes of it. Conference expansion threads are usually entertaining.
  7. You don't sit if you transfer to 1-AA.
  8. Now THAT's a website to get you pumped up for opening day! :blink:And they have sign-ups for a free luxury suite for a game!Edit: The mentioned a "Landscape for Champions" in the Z-fund section. I'm guessing that's what they are calling the athletic portion of the Landscape for Learning initiative.Edit again: You wanted to know where we'll be parking? Check this out: http://channel1media.com/akron/2009/data/m...ectors_lots.pdfThey have two construction areas. One is the expanded Exchange parking deck. The second one to the north is probably going to be the new polymer building right next to the current polymer-engineering college.
  9. And something else, too. His Scout.com profile has changed around who he's interested in.WVU's on top, but more importantly Dayton is now listed as "Low Interest".
  10. Good luck to him. I guess if you're trying out for the NFL, you the Lions are the way to go. There's a good chance that he makes the team considering how abysmal they have been.
  11. So what you're saying is, no Payne no gain?Sure We're set with guards for a while, I believe. Having two straight classes come in creating a major inside presence larger than any other MAC school can hope to have would solidify us at the top of the MAC.
  12. Some quotes from Mr. Payne.
  13. Rasor compared him to Romeo Travis. If he's right, I'm very happy that we signed this guy. This only leaves one scholarship for 2010. It's time to go extra hard after Payne.
  14. Lewis was better in the open field than he was behind center. I think he would have been most dangerous with somebody pitching it to him behind the LOS. He was never a good passer.
  15. Kellen Lewis dismissed from teamIf you remember, he was the QB who torched us for 137 passing yards, 199 rushing yards, and 5 TDs when we last played them.
  16. I actually do want him to verbal to Akron, even if he changes his mind later on. It would make headlines, and show that we're beginning to consistently have top talent consider playing here and that Zeke signing on isn't some kind of fluke. It would be good for Mr. Payne, too. If he wants to narrow down his options he could verbal to us, which would shock lots of his recruiters, and see who sticks around compared to who dumps him.
  17. If they eliminate the plexiglass railing and move the bleachers forward, they don't need to move them all the way up to where the lower bowl starts. There's really no need for the track to be so wide. It could be cut in half and still be comfortable enough to navigate even with a big crowd. That would add three or four more rows to the bleachers or maybe two more rows in the chairbacks.I think that the way the arena is designed the most you could ever get in there by moving the bleachers forward is 6,000 if you keep the chairbacks.
  18. I'm starting to like the chances of Payne picking the Zips more and more. Just a feeling after reading other message boards and how many of those schoolsare just throwing out token offers, or trying to impress him with visits via private jets which shows me that they haven't been paying attention to how different his attitude is when it comes to being recruited.
  19. Brandon Anderson signed with the Indianapolis Colts
  20. Ohio has plenty of room for more recruits.
  21. Poor guy... At least he doesn't need to move out of town.Any other Akron UDFAs out there?
  22. I'm disappointed that no Zips have been taken in the first 5 rounds.
  23. I'm willing to bet that out of all the kids arrested tonight, at least 8 were on the basketball team.
  24. Link to the story.
  25. I'm watching the news and they're reporting massive rioting at Can't State, fires in the street, and the cops out in riot gear. Couple dozen students arrested so far, and they're still fighting it out right now.
