  1. Typical NE Ohio negativity: somebody makes fun of what you like and you let it get to you instead of brushing it off.Just ignore them. Stop acting like a Clevelander.
  2. Just as dangerous as the video billboards on Route 8 just south of campus? Or maybe the Beacon Journal's video board on their tower in downtown? It won't cause any problems.
  3. http://www.cleveland.com/sports/college/in..._insider_7.htmlKD is calling this a step back. There are also some stadium tidbits, like season tix being way below projections.
  4. Toledo's AD is also one of the final 6 candidates for the Houston job.http://myespn.go.com/blogs/ncfnation/0-9-3...ouston-job.html
  5. What?
  6. The decision has been madeGoing back to an 8-team format, both men and women in the Q. This feels like a step backwards. The women are still presented as a sideshow, they're still going to have scheduling problems with very early and late start times, and the teams that don't get byes will look even worse than they do now because they will be viewed as "not good enough to get straight to Cleveland" and the bottom 4 teams will be even worse off than that.
  7. Here's the PD/Alexander blurbI'm starting to hope that he either takes a job very soon, or not until next summer. We're approaching the limit here for when this becomes more than a distraction and something that could interrupt the fall sports and leave us scrambling to find somebody if he waits too long.
  8. They used to sell beer on campus, but I don't know why they stopped. It wasn't an issue before, as far as I know, so that argument doesn't hold water.
  9. The stadium cam thread came up in outline view once, which threw me off for a second. I changed it back, though, and haven't had a problem since.
  10. One good point made on the WMU board was that stadiums and arenas fail when they're too far from a highway. Right now, the JAR is right next to Route 8 with only one way to get to it. If it was moved downtown, it would be surrounded by major roads and highways on all sides. Access would be much easier. Kind of like the football stadium compared to where the Rubber Bowl was; the RB was out there with 224 being the only major way to get there while the new stadium is much easier to get to.
  11. A Facebook event would probably be the way to do it. The AK-Rowdies set up a new FB group each year, and it seems to be the main way of communicating, along with emails.
  12. I hope they sell them at the merchandise tent.
  13. I hope that this becomes more the norm. Having players on the team who are genuinely excited to play for the Zips can do more for recruiting and building fan excitement than a new stadium ever could.
  14. ... In Kalamazoohttp://www.mlive.com/broncos/index.ssf/200..._wmus_move.html
  15. Nick Banke is the favorite for the Indiana state HS championships in Discuss and shot putWillie Brown wins a stacked 800m
  16. Temple ahead of Akron? What crack is he on My mistake. He has us tied with Temple for 2nd. Not sure why Temple was listed first, but whatever. Also, Steele has us as the tenth most improved team in the nation compared to last season. Between that and the CFN preview basically saying the same thing, I'm starting to feel pretty good, but we all know more then they do how much this season rides on eliminating the mistakes (game-killing INTs, really dumb fumbles, missed defensive assignments) that kept the Zips from running away with the East on talent alone.
  17. Looks like they're bricking up the wall that will go underneath the upper deck on the West side. Hopefully this means they will be putting in the rest of the stands soon.
  18. What time is the open house?
  19. http://www.cleveland.com/sports/college/in...ce_vote_mo.htmlI hope the men's tournament stays as a 12-team tourney in Cleveland. The women's tourney can move to Toledo as a 12-team thing, which would be good for the sport. Right now WBB is seen as riding on the backs of the men's tournament, instead of being its own thing.
  20. So... is KD close to finding a new assistant?
  21. Another thing. If Buffalo goes to the Big Ten against all common sense, it leaves Temple even further out in the cold geographically. There's no telling what they would do in that scenario.
  22. That's all the benefit they need. The Big Ten Network is a hugely profitable venture. Add in that the International Bowl would switch to the Big Ten instead of the MAC. Buffalo could pull in Toronto, with their huge media market.
  23. http://new.kentuckysportsradio.com/?p=14770This was put up on March 3rd. I found that another 3* recruit that we were going after has become eligible: Cornellius Carradine. He's the #18 ranked DE for 2009. If there is an extra scholarship out there, why not use it on this kid? If he doesn't become eligible, it won't hurt because the rest of the class is already set.
  24. I'm starting this since wherever there is an AD opening, it is inevitable that Mr. Rhoades' name will pop up as a candidate.Ever since his name came up for the Rutgers job, we knew it would only be a matter of time until he moves on.So far his name has come up for the job at Houston, and now at Marshall.I believe that Houston would be a little bit of a step up, while Marshall would set his career back 10 years.
  25. They would take Buffalo because they're part of the old boy's club called the AAU. The Big Ten bylaws require a school to be a member of that organization. Buffalo is the only MAC school that's a member. AAu is basically the research universities'club, but they have an arbitrary selection process. Akron's research is at a level beyond a good portion of the schools that are members, but we won't be getting an invite thanks to biased statistics due to Akrn's state-mandated open-enrollment policy and the huge amount of non-traditional students. UA's community college in the Polsky building accounts for a lot of that. The thing is that Buffalo hasn't shown a commitment to spending money on the program. The only reason they kept their coach was because he got snubbed by Auburn in what has turned out to be a very controversial decision. Not because they're spending the money to keep him. Akron is building new facilities left and right, but I don't know if they're also increasing spending on stuff like academic support for athletes or other areas.I would argue that the 08-09 athletics season for Buffalo was very similar to what we had going at UA in 2005-2006. Football wins the MAC as a heavy underdog, and basketball has the best season in a long time. Of course, they didn't have the success that our non-revenue sports had. I also wonder if they'll be able to keep up their success after this year.
