Jac is an ideal back up QB. He won't cost us a lead, but he won't win the game either. He's the guy you put in when you have a nice lead and your starter needs some rest. His play style is not suited for a starter. I hate to say it, but he is destined to be a backup for as long as he still plays at Akron. (He may transfer next year with CJ, Rodgers, and Patterson all battling it out. I agree here. Mackey's talent is replaceable, but his heart and leadership is not. With Nate out, our depth is non-existant. We need Nate back, and I sincereley hope Mackey gets his medical RS. The defense lost their will to play after seeing the offense fail constantly no matter how hard the defense tries to win. That has to suck. They are out there 45 minutes every game because of the offensive ineptitude. They are getting worn down already, and we still have 7 MAC games to play. I agree that the line has improved drastically since the beginning of the season and will be solid during MAC play. If we can get just one other receiver to step up, we will have a much more potent offense, but as it stands, we have Jabari and Williams, and CJ if he plays, but that's it. It's not hard to figure out that you double or triple team Jabari, and send the rest to stuff the run. That takes away our entire offense. It has a lot to do with the playcalling, they won't throw deep to Fuqua or Williams or Owens, but they need top, because they are still unknown quantities that haven't been tested. Maybe one of them is as good as Harvey was, but we don't throw to them, so we just don't know. Now my own observations:Drive-killing penalties are becoming a common occurence under JD's tenure. I'm only willing to put up with it so much more of this crap before I call for his head. The coaches really need to grow some b@lls on offense. JD is supposed to be an offensive guy, but since the middle of last year we haven't seen a damn thing from them. One more bad QB game from either CJ or Jac and I'm starting Matt Rodgers chants during the home games. This fooling around has to stop, and it has to stop now in order to keep the season from ending like last year.

Next week we play @ WMU. It's a must-win, at least to me, to salvage the season and become bowl eligible. Every game should be played with a huge sense of urgency, but I don't sense the will to win coming from our offense except for Jabari.

Tell the coaches that. They just want to lose respectably. The play calling doesn't allow for winning games. It just limits mistakes at the cost of making plays.
-
And you can you be realistic about the outcome when the game isn't even 1/2 way through the 3rd and we're down by 2 TD? I don't think we have a chance to win at all, if things continue to go the way they are. Something needs to change very soon, or else it will be too late. Something needs to change within the coaching staff's mindset. They don't play to win. They play "not to lose" (i.e. Jacquemain's playing style). That almost never works. We have to have that killer instinct on offense and defense. The Defense has it, but they wear down from the lack of production on offense. I know, they're young, but you have to engrave that sense of winning into them early, or else we eventually end up with players who have attitude problems because they get benched by freshmen who want to win insetad of just playing to play.

I'm off to vote for Zippy. I can't take this crap.Is it time to start chanting Matt Rodgers' name yet?
-
Crap, customers. This will take a while. See you whenever I get back. GO ZIPS!
-
someone who should be in their conference! That, too!
-
Everyone thinks that. We always give them a good answer, though.
-
We need a touchdown here. No settling for FGs on the road. Going for the jugular now developes that killer instinct for later on in the season.

Ah, finally found a TV. Thanks for the updates guys. Jaq is holding on to the ball too long.

Thanks, QuickZips. I'm still trying to scrounge up a radio that gets a decent signal, or find a TV.

Any updates? I'm stuck at work.

Just had a friend text me the same message...via frenchie in the pregame. This is frustrating...MAC season officially starts next week and JD wont stick with a QB. COACH THEM, DONT KEEP CHANGING THEM OUT!!!! I'm detecting a Browns-level decision making process here. Not good.

I can't remember where I first read that, but it is true.

From the NCAA rulebook: A team may score 1 point if they return the opposing team's 2pt conversion attempt back for a touchdown. The more you know

Damn! I'm a just little bit more tech savvy than most people. Those 200 votes took less than 15 minutes to do.

They ran a story in the Buchtelite yesterday about the University Park Alliance. In it, they mentioned that Spicer Village will break ground next month. It's targeted towards that ever-so-elusive "young professional" demographic. This is essentially the first step to eliminating the ghetto south of Exchange street. It will replace all the houses across the street from the Brown Street ball fields and north of Power street. This will greatly improve the area. It is a big step towards creating a "college town" within Akron.Source: Exciting things in store for UPAThis also brings up the question, if this is set to break ground next month, when is our stadium going to get started? I haven't heard a thing since the official announcement.

Damons is not Zips friendly in any sense. We could changethat by patronizing them early and often to get the message across to them quickly. Or you could choose to go to an establishment that already supports the Zips, such as Rockne's on Merriman. I know that they have a very large mural depicting Zips football placed on their wall on the restaraunt side. The more places support the Zips, the better, but you have to establish a base of operations first and then spread out to other places from there.

Does he really think that VT is that much bigger than the University of Akron? They seem to be very close in terms of size. Sure, if every VT sutdent voted once a day they would have a massive amount of votes, but the same goes for Akron.

Zippy's lead is shrinking again, down to 150. It looks like the battle of Virginia is heating up again. Just put in over 200 votes for Zippy, myself. Remember to also vote for Joe Bruin, Seymour, Cavman, Cosmo, and Hairy Dawg this week to help eliminate some competition.

Zippy's lead is down to 6 votes. My fingers are numb from voting so much today, but we're still just barely afloat. C'mon guys, we need a couple hundred vote buffer. The last thing we need is a loss. -

We may have some trouble on our hands soon. I just got word that the voting site may hit the main page of FARK.com, but it depends on the mood of the moderators there. They have a history of completely screwing up online poll results for fun. Since we're first overall, expect a barrage of votes for the orange blob. -

Make that a lead of only 11 votes. I've voted 120 times today and have no intention of letting up. (I'm very very bored at work). Our lead just keeps slipping. We absolutely have to win this round. I have a feeling that we will either lose this round or next round due to all 11 other schools ganging up on us. We can't let that happen. VOTE!
