  1. Once again our wonderful local paper has decided for us that tonights game is meaningless for us, but means everything for those creeps up the road. Check it out for yourselves......http://www.ohio.com/news/top_stories/16427506.htmlYet more inspiration for our guys I say, this would definitely fire me up.
  2. Maybe a bulldozer working on the stadium will "accidentally" knock down the stupid Plasma Center. That might help.
  3. I foresee a win in Lexington. You can take that to the bank. I remember a few years ago (2004 I believe) when Ohio went to KY and beat them pretty bad, KY had to battle back late to make the score look closer than it really was (28-16). KY loses their quarterback Woodson, best receiver Burton, best running back Little, only tight end Tamme, and third best receiver Johnson. It will be a rebuilding year somewhat for them. Regardless, it would still be a great win for the Zips and I can't wait to make that trip. I used to bleed blue, but am proud to say I still do, only a little darker shade......with a little gold.
  4. somebody just opened the YSU can of worms....Who says it's a can of worms? I'd rather play YSU at home and get a home game in before October than get beat up on the road against OSU any day.Get Beat Up? Akron's defense made the suckeyes look not so hot last season. A real "quarterback" and the outcome of that game could have been a lot different, and no I'm not giving their defense any credit with that statement because Akron's performance at quarterback was lackluster at best all season long. While I'm on the OSU subject, I say stop letting them in the National Title game, they choked two years in a row, give someone else a chance!
  5. I am a grad of NKU (06) (we called it No Knowledge University) and there are two reasons they built that new arena.1. They are a NCAA div. II school who has dominated over the years. A few basketball National Championships around 2000 and their softball team even spanks SEC schools all the time, and I know of at least 8 baseball players who have been drafted over the past few years. They are wanting to make a move to DIV I (MAC perhaps) and part of the move involved them building a bigger arena. The JAR is a palace compared to their old arena, which didn't even have endzone seating!?2. The second reason is Cincinnati is a dump! If you have been lately you will have noticed that Newport/Covington is booming commercially as opposed to Cincinnati. It really has been a problem for Cincy because all the businesses are moving across the river. That being said, Kentucky wanted to build a "Concert" type arena to rival the USBank Arena in downtown Cincinnati to try to bring Ohio money back across the river. It doesn't say on NKU's website I don't think but the project includes the addition of a 5 story hotel located pretty much on campus. I haven't been with Akron very long but I have noticed a lot of similarity between UA and NKU. I think a new arena at UA would be the greatest thing, but in my opinion it needs to stay on campus. With the new football stadium being on campus I think it would be a step back to move the basketball team downtown.
  6. 7. Athletic Directors are in the same position the coaches are in so there is instability there.8. Athletic Directors are too young and inexperienced to have the know how or maturity to significantly improve the programs. When they do mature, they realize the cause is hopeless and look elsewhere for employment.Obviously you've never met Mack Rhoades. The man is extremely intelligent and very demanding with his coaches. Obviously at mid major schools such as MAC schools you can't expect to be playing for National Championships every year. The best you can hope for is to win your conference title and get some exposure. But to contradict myself look at some of the other sports in the MAC, Akron soccer was a top 15 team this year and they EXPECT to win a national championship. As much as I hate to admit it Can't Read University up the road has a top 15 maybe a top 10 golf program. And I hear snobby Miami has a top ranked preppy sweater knitting team, although I can't find that in print. Point is, athletic directors in mid-majors have one of the most difficult jobs in that they have the pressure of hiring coaches that they trust to build solid programs, with limited financial resources, because the people in their city (especially their newspapers!) think they have to be a stupid Buckeye fan.
