To answer your question MDZips....Zeke has put his request for the number change in with his coach...however, they aren't sure if the shirt will fit. Don't know if they are willing to order a new #44 Tigers jersey for him. I'll keep you up-to-date on the number change thing.

Yeah....we gonna take ur fiddles away. No mush for you tonight!!!!!!!! OK..ladies and gentlemen let the talk begin...here are links to several articles about tomorrow's early signing day. http://www.miami.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=874650 Marshall, a top-40 prospect, was one of the first highly ranked players tospurn the high-majors in the class of 2009. He committed to Akron, citingthe school's computer program. http://pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/sports/s_597835.htmlMcKeesport's 7-foot center Zeke Marshall plans to sign with Akron. "He probably could have done better than that - he did well at the Nike camp," said Clark Francis, editor and publisher of the recruiting Website Hoop Scoop. This one is care of Coach Boals and comes from Scout.com:Recruiter's Roundtable, Part I: In advance of the early signing period, we polled Dave Telep, Evan Daniels, Greg Hicks and Eric Bossi and gathered their thoughts on the Class of 20093) Who is the big sleeper in this class?Dave Telep: When I think of guards, Jordan Hulls comes to mind. Heck, as late as May he wasn’t on our Top 100 list. Others are better prospects but how many can lead like he can? Let’s be honest, the kid wasn’t even thought of a serious prospect for the Hoosiers as a junior and he resides in Bloomington! As far as bigs not in our Top 100, I’ll toss the name Cadarian Raines out there. Virginia Tech has an explosive guy with great athleticism and a knack for blocking shots.Evan Daniels: The biggest sleeper in the class of 2009 could be Mike Moser out of Portland (Ore.). He’s not a guy that has received a ton of attention, but is ranked in our Top 75. With his length and ability to play multiple positions, I think he’s got a tremendous upside and is the type of guy that will be a tremendous impact on the school he ends up at. He can defend three positions and is an efficient spot up shooter out to 22-feet. I think this is the type of guy that could find himself on an all-conference team by the end of his college career.Greg Hicks: Brandon Davies is the best player nobody talks about and BYU got a steal with his commitment. He's good enough to play at any school in the country. Great feet and hands, with a high skill level.Eric Bossi: I know he's highly rated by a lot of people so it's hard to call him a sleeper, but I think that Zeke Marshall could end up that guy. He's going to Akron so some people are going to forget about him because he's playing at a "mid major". But, that doesn't change the fact that the young man has immense potential in that seven foot frame and a few years from now I won't be surprised to see him doing big things. -
TRUE, TRUE OH SOOOOO TRUE!!!!!!!!!YOU GUYS ARE NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!

I just want to make this observation..and although I know there are many of you who did not agree with or support President Elect Obama...I find it somewhat befitting that my son has chosen to wear No. 44.Now, granted this decision was made WAY BEFORE last nights historic election...but how awesome it is to see that Zeke will be wearing the number of not only some AWESOME basketball figures...but also in representation of our first African American President who is now the 44TH President of our United States. This little bit of revelation didn't even hit me until late last night while I was sitting there listening to President Obama's acceptance speech. With everything that is happening in our country right now..and for months and years to come, I just wanted to take a pause and share this little piece of revelation with Zeke's "other" family. Just makes you say..Uhhmmmm!! Interesting!!!! -

So who's going to switch numbers since Bardo is #54 now?Zeke said that he will change his number from 54 to 44 when he comes to Akron. Also, I think he will be changing his high school number to 44 as well this year. -

If you are referring to the "early signing" period for basketball..that isn't until November...either the 13, 14th or 15th (somewhere around there)

OK ZipNation.....You all have got to check out this article...although the person who left a response must be a "Buckles" fan... who is ranked 40. http://www.ohiomm.com/blogs/zips/2008/08/2...th-best-player/ -
End of Summer Rankings.....

p.s. Start saving your aluminum cans (soda pop and beer) for the "Cans for Trevor" fund. You save them and we'll get the cash they produce to Trevor's family. This activity has already yielded over $100 for Trevor's expenses.I certainly will. As much soda as we drink in this house....I wish you would have told me a little while ago. Heck I can probably raise a couple hundred dollars alone. -
Good Morning Zip Nation... I know I've been quiet for a while...but things have been quite busy here in Pittsburgh. Zeke is getting ready for his SENIOR year of high school... somebody shoot me. I just wanted to let you all know that Rivals.com has come out with their end of summer rankings and Zeke has gone from 45 to 39. WooHoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not bad, ladies and gentlemen, not bad at all. As a matter of fact..you all may want to go and check it out..there have been some MAJOR DROPPINGS for several D-1 BIG EAST recruits--my my my!!Scout is due to come out with there new list by the end of the week. I'll keep you all posted. Zeke starts school this Friday!! Oh..and for those who may be wondering...he has "qualified" and is going through the clearinghouse process right now. All truly is well. Coach Boals, Anne Jorgensen, myself, Zeke's high school coach and his counselor have poured over his transcripts to make sure that he has everything he needs. His schedule is pretty cool...he has English 12, Algebra II, Journalism, and Sociology. He will also be taking a Computer Repair course (which is something he wants to take..but it will also fulfill his H.S. credit requirements).I'll holla at you all again...real soon!!Zeke's Mom
-
A B S O L U T E L Y Dr. Z....just spoke with Coach Boals. He said Zeke is really, really looking good. Can't complain about that...Have a good week Zip Nation/Family..

7 feet is a big fish, even in a big pond Not sure if anyone's watching this thread, or discussion anymore, but I was watching ESPNU's AAU Showcase event in Orlando today, and they keep displaying their top 100 players from the class of '09. Well, voila, No Zeke Marshall. I guess I can understand that, as some sites probably haven't caught up with his recent development. However -- I went on ESPNU's website, to see just how Zeke WAS rated. Holy moley folks...the top 20 I think all get scores in the 90s. I went down as far as I could go before the site froze up, which was to #180, and the players at that spot had scores of 70 I think. Next thing I did was to search for Zeke on the site. Found him -- with a score of 40! That would probably place him outside the top 300 players in his class! This may explain why: He's listed at 6-11 and 170 pounds. I thought I heard he had passed 200 and was about 210 now?Zippysgotagun...you may want to check out what that "40" score really means...I too saw this site and when you hit that #40 another box appears that says the following:Scouts Inc. High School Grading SystemView Scouts Inc. Full GradeScouts Inc. has received film of the prospect and an evaluation is pending.40: Pending ProspectPlayer evaluation is pending receipt of film.So essentially..the staff at ESPNU have not only NOT SEEN Zeke play in person but they've never even seen any film on him...so dont despair. All really is well..and also their stats are WAY OFF...Zeke is 7'0 and he weights around 209-210..according to the Nike stats at the Stoudimere Big Man Camp and the LBJ Academy (both of which he attended). I also know that ESPNU is broadcasting the 17U Gold Championship game tonight from Florida (where Zeke is now). His team did not do very well, but according to both Coach D and Coach Boals..Zeke is playing very, very, very well...and at the end of the day..that is ALL THAT MATTERS!! Good night all...Zeke's Mom

Scouts write up about Zeke @ WV Jamfest
FromdaBurgh replied to FromdaBurgh's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
MDZip you are a riot... Zeke is doing very, very well and I am sooo pleased with his progress. How about this...I received a call from a coach at Western Kentucky last night..and when I told him that Zeke had already committed to Akron..he had the audacity to say: "Oh..I didn't know that"..now either he is really, really STUPID or he thought that I was, either way..my comment after hanging up the phone was...Dude..have you ever heard of the freakin INTERNET...its not like it hasn't been written about a thousand times...and every time somebody talks about Zeke they preference it with "AKRON RECRUIT"...DDUUUHHHH !!!! Just say NO next time...Geeezzzz....
