  1. AK..."passive"...really? UUuuuhhhh...what game are YOU watching. He made the first 4 points, got a dunk, 2 blocks all WITHOUT getting the ball passed to him on the offensive end..and you call him PASSIVE??? really??!!!
  2. OK ZipNation...I am asking that we let my situation DIE...whoever said whatever is of no affect to me any more...they are a "non factor" in my life and at the end of the day..LADIES AND GENTLEMEN we are 2 days away from the start of ZIP BASKETBALL...and I for one...am crazy excited about this season! GoZips...I know you wouldn't do anything like that and the fact is....there was NOTHING that I was trying to hide...it was meant to be funny PLAIN AND SIMPLE...someone took it differently and did what they did...O'well....its DONE and OVER! Lets get ready to play some ball--ZIPS STYLE! Love you all...but this is IT! Let it go please and lets move on to THURSDAY's tip off!!! Hope to see you all there! MUAH!!!
  3. The Vulcans are a team to follow early on. not just because of Sweich, but because they play two of our opponents in the pre-season. It will be interesting to compare this game to how they do against VCU.Another fun fact. Cal U's leading scorer Quentin Harding hails from none other than McKeesport, Pa. and went to McKeesport just like Zips front-liner Zeke Marshall. It stands to reason that they must have been teammates in high school.A couple of Akron connections on this squad! As a matter of fact DB...Quentin Harding and Zeke did play on the same squad when Zeke was a Freshman. Quentin also played on Zekes AAU team in the 17 up squad while Zeke was playing on the 16 under team..."small world"
  4. To Captain and DIG...no WHOEVER the person and/or persons were, they contacted the COACHES and told them because I got a call from the "THE OFFICE" and was told that my comment "could have negative "compliance" implications".....and I'll leave it at that! While I want to be really, really pissed....I guess its no different than a pro athlete who has to be mindful about what they are saying because we know how "people" LOOOOVVVEEE...to twist and turn words around! Oh well, this is only getting me prepared for the "BIG DAWGS" one day! Thanks to EVER YOU ARE!! You did me a favor!!! MUAH!!!!
  5. To any person on this board, who took my post about the tickets in any other manner than what it was intended to be, which was a (JOKE)...let me CLARIFY MYSELF...I have NEVER ASKED nor has ANYONE from the Akron Zips ticket office EVER given me any sort of SPECIAL TREATMENT above and beyond what I or any other parent would receive. My intent for making that JOKE was simply to say that I want to keep my FABULOUS PARENT SECTION SEATS and if by chance I have to PURCHASE any extras I can get them in the same section..so that my guest can watch the game with me!!! It is very unfortunate that there are people on this board...who would take such a trivial comment that was TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY meant to be FUNNY and certainly not taken so SERIOUSLY to such an extreme that I just don't desire to make any further comments on this board! It's unfortunate and just plain RIDICULOUS!! But it is what it is! If you all see me at a game, stop by and say hi...other than that I won't be saying ANYTHING ELSE on this board....SEE YA LATER FAM!!!
  6. OK...soooooo...guess what family.....OOOOOoo.....I got something to tell yyyoouuuu guys!!!! So, I "heard" that a certain mom, had this really cool convo with a "certain player" and when she asked this "certain player" (we'll call him "PLAYER X) about how they played in the scrimmage, Player X said that "he played really well and was pleased with his performance". But wait there's more.....so this same little birdie told me, that when "mom" had asked Player X about his expectations for the season, Player X was super hyped and was really excited and said that "how he ended the season is how he is going to start the season...and go from there". Now, listen you all...this is hush, hush secret agent info here...so don't be going around spreadin any rumors and things like that. Just know, that if you read this message, it may self destruct in 35-45 minutes!!! BOOM!!! BANG!!! POW!!!!
  7. OOOOoooo...Zippyfan...so that was YOUR son who won that pizza for a year! Well...me and Zeke and the fam will be at your house for a PIZZA PARTY!!! LOL:) As for the event itself....though it was really nice, I was EXTREMELY disappointed in the lack of turn out. I don't understand how the student body would not come out to support the MAC CHAMPIONS! I was very, very disappointed! I mean REALLY guys...REALLY???
  8. How bout this '63? Might not be practical in the winter, but plenty of headroom. Dr Z...this car is OFF DA CHAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But, its actually for Zeke's younger brother who had an Eldorado but it was totalled last month. If anyone knows of a good dealer on the AKRON side of Ohio....LOL:) let me know. Want to keep it under 2800. Thanks EVERYONE....
  9. HI FAMILY....Welp.....my baby boy is looking for a car! He found a 1997 Cadillac Eldorado being sold b;y Carefree Auto Sales - Mike Marshell. Can somebody please tell me if this place is reputable. If not, he is looking for a 1995-1999 Eldorado or Deville....something along those lines. 10. Type "jeff boals fresno state" in google. Example The Bulldog Nation already hates Jeff Boals. Frankly, I think he's too good for the Valley Boys. they're not going to get Reggie Theus either, BTW - lol. Jeff should stay in the Midwest -- he can get an upper mid-major (MVC, CAA...) shortly if he doesn't move up if Matta somehow leaves. BTW -- Fresno's AD (Boeh?) came from OU, so that's the Ohio connex. Looks like Fresno fans got their wish...Boals is staying at OSU...found this on the OSU boards: Boals to stay at OSU -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Coach Boals tweets this morning... JeffBoals Jeff Boals Looking forward to individuals with the guys. Lot of work to be done the rest of the quarter! #unfinishedbusiness AaronCraftFans Aaron Craft Fans @JeffBoals Does this mean you're staying at Ohio State? JeffBoals Jeff Boals @AaronCraftFans yes.
  11. Well...the day after is just as sweet as last night. I couldn't sleep thinking about, talking about and just trying to wrap my head around the fact that the ZIPS are going to the NCAA "Big Dance"! There are no words that can describe how I feel (as Zeke's mom) and as a basketball fan!!! Despite our moments of contention and "heated conversations"....I want to thank ALL OF U for supporting Zeke, even if in secret...encouraging him and just reminding him to continue strong! To be named MVP..was absolutely unexpected and both he and I were in shock! This entire ZIPS team deserves are respect, are accolades and are praise....there is nothing like pushing through adversity and coming out on top! Kudos to Steve McNeese, Nik, D-Rob, Rico, Q & especially Mike Bardo...you guys have made the 3,000+ miles I put on my car sooooo worth it!!!! See you at the Barley House!!!
  12. There is NOTHING FREAKIN FUNNY about this stupid thread. What the hell are u idiots talkin about..when u have MCNEESE go 0-6 from the field, 0-6 from the 3 and come away with 0 freakin points in 26 minutes of play. Then u have NIK go 4-10 from the field, 0-1 from the 3 and 0-1 from the line and only 2 REBOUNDS. You all are gettin on my got darn NERVES with the BS!! Get the hell off of Zeke who BY THE WAY...went 3-5..scored the FIRST 4 POINTS....went 2-2 from the line and in case NOBODY was payin attention BROKE THE ALL TIME SEASON RECORD FOR BLOCKS!!! I've been quiet long enuf..and I'm DONE!! Trade Zeke for Cooper??!!! U IDIOT!! Shut up!!!

  18. Will there be any LIVE VIDEO feeds for this game?????
  19. And ladies and gents therein lies my issue EVERY single time when it comes to Zeke and if anyone listened to the post game interview you heard KD say that whenever Zeke gets these types of calls it bothers him so much that it throws him off his game. I said it in another thread...Zeke is going to have to learn QUICKLY how to not allow those types of calls to effective the rest of his game. If he does not get a tougher skin when it comes to those types of calls we will consistenly see him get into foul trouble because he has allowed the refs to get into his head! Now, to answer someones question about the new rules...here is what our illustrious NCAA decided: "Every season in men’s basketball an NCAA rules change occurs. This season, a player who rebounds the ball will need to find some elbow room without swinging them. The NCAA men’s basketball rules committee approved in June a significant change for policing how a player conducts himself when defenders try to swat the ball from the player’s hands. That player will find it much harder to swing his elbows to clear space between him and the defender. He will now be whistled for a minimum of an intentional foul. Previously, the official only had the option of calling as little as a common foul or as serious as a flagrant foul, according to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Rules Committee 2010 Annual Meeting Report. How many times have you witnessed no fouls called in that situation? The difference between a flagrant and intentional foul: If the foul is deemed to be intentional, the team whose player was struck would receive two free throws and possession of the ball. If the foul is deemed to be flagrant, the player who threw the elbow would be ejected. Under the new rule, officials will no longer have the option of calling a common foul. A player who swings the elbow and makes contact below the shoulders would still be subject to a common foul, an intentional foul or a flagrant foul, depending on the severity and intent. “The (rules) committee continues to be concerned with elbow contact,” the committee states in its 2010 Annual Meeting Report. “Because of the increased number of these situations, the committee believes that immediate change is needed. “Effective with the 2010-11 season, more than incidental contact above the shoulders with the elbow must be a minimum of an intentional foul. If the contact with the elbow is deemed to be a result of excessive swinging of the elbows, the penalty will continue to be a flagrant foul regardless of the area contacted. The report further states that “in addition to this rules change, there will be additional officiating emphasis on protecting players that have possession immediately following a rebound by quickly calling reach in or other contact fouls.”Those are dreadful words to those who believe refs are already whistle-happy. They are now given the green light to protect the rebounder, as the NCAA rules committee states. The simple fact that the NCAA rules committee has made this a big deal will entice refs to call more fouls and become a greater part of the game. Time will tell if these calls will become controversial. Committing an intentional foul after a rebound can become as much as a seven- or eight-point swing. The team of the violating player relinquishes possession (preventing the opportunity of a field goal or three-point shot). The opponent gets two free throws and then possession. Other rules information for the upcoming season: •Last year’s rules change that identified the area under the basket as a place on the floor that a secondary defender is not able to establish legal guarding position acted as a deterrent to bogus charging calls. However, the rules committee is currently against painting an arc like the NBA because the rules committee is “concerned that placing an arc on the floor too far from the basket would create a seismic shift in the game that would potentially provide a significant advantage to the offensive team,” the 2010 report states. •Timeout administration is changed. During a timeout, two horns will now sound. The first horn is a warning indicating 15 seconds remaining in the timeout. The second horn, by rule, denotes the time the ball should be put in play. Officials must place the ball on the floor and start a count if the team throwing the ball in is not ready for play. Some rules recommendations to the committee this year that we may see enforced in future years: •Wider Lane. A wider lane is viewed by the committee as a means to improve the spacing of the game in the post. The general consensus of the committee in June was that a wider lane would be a positive move. •Sportsmanship Concerns. In some higher profile cases, coaches are not treating their own student-athletes respectfully, and the committee is planning to send a memorandum to all directors of athletics requesting assistance in improving these behaviors. The general feeling of the committee is this is an institutional issue rather than an officiating concern. •Coach calling timeout during a live ball. An official’s attention is and should be on the court during live ball play; therefore, it makes sense to the committee that only players on the court should be allowed to call timeouts during play. •Use of monitor for shot clock expiration reviews. Currently, a monitor may be used for shot clock reviews only under a minute in each half. The committee is considering expanding this allowance to the entire game. •Defining amount of time it takes to catch the ball. Several situations were presented to the committee that would benefit from having a set limit in terms of time. The accepted minimum amount of time to catch and shoot a ball by rule is 0.4 seconds; it seems to make sense to use that same number, at a minimum, if a team is catching a rebound and calling timeout. •Definition of the try during a fouling situation. The committee discussed in June when the shot begins under the continuous motion rule and believes more definition and education is needed." ”
  20. OK...so I "normally" would NEVER make any comments after games, just because of who I am, HOWEVER, I am going to have to "disagree with you" skipzip. While I will admit that the team AS A WHOLE was absolutely HORRENDOUS....I don't think that your statement is all together accurate. Zeke was 3-5 from the field and 3-4 from the line....while you have your SENIOR GUARDS (who are suppose to be the leaders of this team) going 5-13 and 3-8 or Serb who was 2-8...our guards played absolutely NO DEFENSE and was like an ice cube on offense. There will always be major room for improvement...but if this is suppose to be a "team game"...where was everyone else? NOBODY showed up!!! If you just look at the numbers...Zeke played OK (in comparison to Can't)..and the one thing that Zeke is going to really have to learn how to do is to not allow those REFS and those dumb *** calls get in his head. When they called him for that intentional....I know that it really got to him (and then they called him for that ticky tack foul right after that)....Zeke is going to have to really learn how to play through these MAC refs and not allow those bone heads to get in his head and throw him off his game. Until he really settles himself down and learns how to do that....you will see little people like Cooper getting layups over him...because Zeke's first concern is trying not to get into foul trouble...although it didnt go so well last night...***sigh***
  21. I've got the game on my DVR. Come on over, we'll order some pizza and watch Zeke destroy the flushes again. WOULD LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to come over....but I live in Pittsburgh!! Can u burn me a copy on DVD...I'll pay u for it??!!!!

  23. I heard somebody say that they need to stop playing NOT TO LOSE and play to WIN!. I thought that was a very interested perspective! Any thoughts ZN fam?!!
  24. What you may not understand Sergeant is that, and this information came from SEVERAL individuals who work as REFEREES and who have reffed games that Zeke played in, that the MAJORITY of refs WILL NOT make a lot of foul calls Zeke's way because in their minds he already has an unfair advantage with his height so the refs give those who are guarding him more leniency in their whistle blowing...which is why you OFTEN TIMES see them NOT CALL fouls against those guards who hack and swipe and hold him. I hate this way of thinking...but like the refs told me...he is tall and he is going to get hacked and we won't make those calls! The only time you see them make them is USUALLY late in the 2nd half and they have watched him get held, jersey grabbed, arms pulled on and all of that foolishness and THEN MAYBE (except for those idiot refs in Vegas) will they call a foul his way..to get the guy off of him! Not my words..the REFS words!!!!!
  25. Dave In the Green and HillTopper...LET ME sit with you all the next time and I dare anybody to tell ME to shut the **** up....trust and believe I will handle them like Zeke handled dude when he blocked that got darn DUNK!!!!! NOW!!! :gun:
