I'm looking for the SHOCKER (game, score AND wresting move) that will include copious amounts of scoring by both offenses. Akron's D will be improved from last year but will suffer the entire game at the hands of the Penn State's offensive weaponry. However, the Akron O will shock the college football world with amazing score after amazing score, the senior passer Jacq finding open targets and an unexpectedly robust running game allowing the Zips to keep pace. Midway through the 3rd quarter, national broadcasters will start to cut to breaking news of little Akron threatening JoePa and his Nittany Lions. The game will end with the Zips up by 3 and the Nittany Lions failing on a last-ditch 4th down play. As the play fails and the Zips storm the field, JoePa will bend at his waist, putting his hands on his knees as he ponders the end to his illustrious coaching career. If the Zippers can keep it close, perhaps even put a little jolt of fear into the Nittany Lions, and not suffer any season-ending-type injuries to key players, I will be happy. This program is in transition, and we should not ever allow each other to cry poor, or to denigrate Akron's ability to recruit players, keep them in house, and compete, with anyone. It doesn't matter how good Jacq plays, nor the offense, if the defense can't play more stoutly than last year. The problem last year was rarely points scored. Who here would argue that the offense was anemic last year? I remember the sinking feeling that no lead was safe, no number of points enough, and that sinking feeling was caused by the defense. Speaking of clothing and merchandise, I'm in my mid-40s and it is my distinct impression that there are many more people who wear OSU gear in NEOhio than there were when I was a kid. I'm not exactly sure when/how people in NEOhio were conned into thinking that a university that's almost two hours away, one that most in the area did not attend, deserved their allegiance. Beyond simply resenting it, I've never really understood it. I will actually take it as a very positive sign when those same disgusting lemmings show up at the Info wearing their OSU flair, because for UA right now it's more important to gain exposure, to the stadium, to the team, to plant seats in the seats, than anything else. Let the lemmings feel about UA like local tribe fans do about the Aeros. If UA capitalizes and grows the program, they'll win some of those douches over, and they'll begin to outfit themselves with UA flair. Some never will, but hey if they're buying tix and attending games, I'll hate them a little less. Does anyone on the board know how the merchandise selection will be at the team shop? OH the humanity. I just threw up in my mouth a little. You could blast someone's head off with that thing! I disagree.I loved parking in the Rubber Bowl lot. It really turned into a great party spot within the last 5-or-so years. What will be lost, tailgating-wise, is the ability to park wherever you want, however you want. The ability to be really obnoxious and have such ample spacing amongst fans that no one really cared if you were obnoxious. The ability to play football, golf, beer pong, whatever, without limits. All that was unique to the Rubber Bowl and is lost. But that's the price of moving up. Paying a premium to park an RV is VERY common at football games. I still think people will drink, play corn hole, cook out, play music and whoop it up @ Infocision. I know I will. For those students who want the beer pong, funnels, 110 decibel music etc, they will need to party in someone's off campus back yard, then walk to the game. That's the way it is done everywhere else.Well i wasn't necessarily complaining about paying for the RV. I just was asking if anyone knew the price.But i have a feeling that they will crack down on fun times and keep it from being a true college tailgate. Any incoming AD who is young and ambitious won't stay beyond the term required to "check the boxes" that will get him/her into consideration for bigger/better programs. Exceptions would be those who come in and are somehow tied to the local area, are much older and looking to settle in, or do a lousy enough job so as to be unable to leave. I'd rather have a young, ambitious guy come in, work like gangbusters and then leave, than one who can't leave because they have failed to distinguish themselves. If he's not from here, and we hope that he does a great job (we all do), he will leave a few years from now. GO ZIPS!STZ

While I certainly feel badly for him as a human being, when I come to ZN it's as a fan of Zips college sports. In that context, he and Willy killed us last year and I LOVE IT that they're not a factor this year. And in fact, thinking about that human being thing, if he never steps on the field again, he has been a football star into adulthood, had a wonderful opportunity for a college education at an excellent university, free of charge, and beyond that shoulder is presumably healthy.
