Honestly I think we were kinda screwed at the end of the game there. The announcers said we for sure had the first (although they loved Michigan too much to disagree when the reversal was announced). They also said we should have 23 seconds on the clock (clock showed 15 seconds). The third down play that then occurred was in real time 5 seconds or so. However 11 SECONDS came off the clock???? How???? It should have been first and goal at the 1 with 23 seconds and 1 timeout remaining......screwed....

So my friends and I are considering tailgating in the enemy ground for the Wagon Wheel Game. Any tips from people that have entered hippy territory before? Good lots, time to get there, etc.?

Anyone know if this game will be streaming anywhere? I assume not from gozips.com, but I thought I'd check just in case. I'm going to be out of town and would love to see the Zips get their second win of the season. Sorry if this was discussed elsewhere, couldn't find it from a quick search.

So does anyone (who is not a Z-fund donor) plan on going early to tailgate? What is the best lot to go to that you can pay for on gameday? I feel like I used to see people in lot 36...does it get busy at all?

2 years ago I was finishing up school so I lived within walking distance of the stadium. Last year I'm sad to say that we were so bad that I didn't care to attend any games. This year though, I'm very excited for the season and would like to try tailgating a few times with some friends to get ready for some games. Any suggestions for a first timer? Can I park in any lot if I pay or am I limited to certain lots? Which lots are the most fun? Can we openly drink in the these lots? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Honestly, I really don't know if this ever has happened. But, the University has surprised me with their actions (hirings specifically) before! But, it is true, this might not even be possible

Here's my theory: The university expects Bowden to come in and fully turn our program around. Everyone is on board with this and can't wait to see it happen. The question then comes in, is this where Bowden wants to live out his coaching career though? I seriously hope he would consider this, and again, so does everyone else. But if he does leave after successfully turning us around (like many other MAC coaches have done), we will need a coach that can come in and maintain our progress and keep us on the way up. Who could this be in 5 years? Maybe a certain individual who is already on the University's staff who recently (at that time) has had his "show-cause" penalty expired. Someone who had been in the background helping promote the football program, helping with recruiting when needed, etc. Someone how is already familiar with the program who can come in immediately and make another big impact. Is this anywhere near the truth? Probably not...just an idea I had!

Duh. Who would have ever guessed that's the way to win basketball games and championships? You read this board as much as the next person. Reading this board, one would think playing defense is the only way to win. If you notice from my post, scoring points comes before defense and mistakes. A lot of points can cover up mistakes and a bad defense night. You cite 3 major elements of basketball -- scoring points (offense), defense, and mistakes. In reality, mistakes are not a major element in the sense of offense and defense. Mistakes are nothing more than failures to effectively run the offense or defense. The more mistakes that are made on offense or defense, the more the performance in that element declines. So, in reality, offense and defense are the 2 major elements of basketball. In any given game, performing either of the 2 elements better than average can cover for the other element being under average. The team that wins is the one that has the best combined performance in both offense and defense. It doesn't really matter if your team either scores a lot of points or defends the other team from scoring a lot of points. All that matters is that your combined offense/defense results in your team scoring 1 more point than the other team at the end of the game. The best teams are capable of playing a combination of offense and defense that results in them consistently having more points at the end of games than the teams they play. If your shooting is off and you're not scoring, your defense better be capable of stopping the other team from scoring. If you're allowing the other team to score a lot of points, your offense better be capable of scoring even more points. I completely agree that the game comes down to offense and defense. To me it seems like the problem comes in when there is too much emphasis on defense. I'm not saying there is such a thing as "too much emphasis on defense," just that there has to be a good balance. A great defense can keep your team in the game to give you the chance to win in the end. But, when the game is on the line at the end, there has to be a closer that you can rely on to carry your offense to a win. McNees gave us some nice game winning shots, but we can all agree he is/was not and should not be our go to guy. We need someone who can open up the defense and be able to win the game in isolation (or even just from a good pick and roll). Someone who can hit that last shot...although I know just about every team in the NCAA wants that same person.

I know that in addition to attending more of the men's soccer and football games than I ever have in the past, I also have attended volleyball and women's soccer games which I never would have attended if not for the roowards points. So, it is working on me!

I think these stats are actually pretty interesting. Coming from someone in their mid-20's, I can personally say I know more people that watch soccer on tv than hockey or baseball. I really enjoy watching the skill/creativity it takes to score a goal in soccer. I agree there may be flaws in the attendence suggestion that soccer is more popular than other sports (such as looking at tv viewers/ratings or total ticket sales), but I definetely think that the younger generations will see a continued rise in the popularity of soccer. Of course thinking soccer will pass basketball or football seems completey out of the question at this point, but you never know? That's just my view of the topic of course, as I don't really have any solid stats to back it up besides experience...

Yeah the Starbucks rumor seems to be very true in the Exchange Street dorms where the art store was. The sign actually is already up for it. I think it would make an absolute killing if they had picked a location where they could put in a drive-through near campus, but I'm sure this one will still do well
