You guys deserve a home game. What pisses me off is Illinois is in the NIT. They finished the year 2-12 for Bruce Weber. That is Big Ten BS all the way!

As a Cleveland State supporter, the question of fan support is one I can sympathize with. I get it, CSU is largely a commuter school so that my contribute to our ills, but a lot has been done to our campus that has drastically changed the complexion of CSU. Akron U is a wonderful campus that is extremely impressive. I just don't understand it. Both Akron and CSU have enjoyed success recently. EVERY year you guys are in the mix for a MAC title and CSU has been a 20 plus win team with Waters at the helm. We have a recent NCAA Tournament win over Wake in 09 and we still struggle with attendance. CSU has also tried giveaways, free pizza, etc, but by and large we get very little student support unless we are playing Butler. I just have to believe that Northeast Ohio is not a college basketball hotbed. Even though I have no affiliation with your school, I still enjoy going down to the JAR to take in some hoops. This year I saw you guys beat Detroit, lose to my Vikes, lose to VCU (you got robbed), and I was rooting for you guys yesterday at the Q. To get the common fan to attend and to pay attention, you have to have a few deep runs in the NCAAs. However, it is family friendly affordable entertainment for families. I much rather go see the Zips or the Vikes play over the Cavs for the money. I know people in Akron hate the JAR and I do too, but a new facility will only give you a short term attendance spike. To have sustained fan support the winning must be sustained. It really is that simple. Do you guys want the Wolstein Center. CSU is looking at selling it.

I came down last year for the Vikes win right before Thanksgiving. I was the only CSU fan in the lower bowl and definitely got some dirty looks. I made an appointment with Luigi's Pizza and left happy.

Cleveland State fan here, and I just wanted to throw my .02 cents out there.First off, the Vikes schedule is close to being finalized and the date for the Zips Vikes game should be released in short order. I would expect a November date. As for meet up spots, places like the Winking Lizard, Becky's, and Bricco are all solid. But please for your own good avoid The Rascal House and Peabody's. The Rascal House has gone downhill big time in recent years and Peabody's has been a dump for years. I am happy that we have renewed our basketball series with both Akron and Can't State. It only makes sense. I have been calling for a MAC/Horizon League Shootout for years, but I doubt it will ever happen. This game between the Vikes and Zips should be a good one. Yes, we have lost Norris, but we have a lot coming back. Hoops season will be here before you know it.

Congrats Zips Nation on the big win last night. It was a fantastic game and great toughness was shown last night. I was down at the game and notice a skirmish after the game. Does anybody know what was behind that? CSU will probably get an NIT bid, and I am hoping it is against Can't St. I hate that team.

This tells us about Zeke's ceiling.

Congrats on a solid road win.

The Horizon is 7-1 against the MAC this year in hoops and will soon be 8-1. You guys just don't have the horses to hang with Detroit.
-
One thing that has to be understood about CSU is the fact that one of our best players is out (D'Aundray Brown) when he returns I do believe that CSU will compete with anybody in the Horizon....even Butler and Detroit.

Norris Cole was actually ready to sign with Walsh University and one of Water's assistants knew of Norris and suggested to him to sign Cole. The rest is history. Cole is truly a diamond in the rough. http://www.daytondailynews.com/dayton-spor...mer-771591.html

I don't blame you guys for being upset. As a Viking supporter, I was a bit surprised at how Cleveland State outhustled the Zips and looked far more active. There was no spark at all for the Zips. I have watched Zeke Marshall play twice now and have not been impressed. He is soft and the fact that he is a legit 7 footer, he should be dominating mid-major play. The Cole dunk on Marshall was the ultimate exclamation point on the Viking W. Another poster, referenced the screens that Akron set on offense 40 feet from the hoop. I did not understand why Dambrot thought that would work, as a matter of fact, I felt it hindered Akron's offense. On the flip side, Brett McClanahan was impressive on the defensive end of the floor. He really took Norris Cole out of the game in the first half. I like that kid a lot. However, Cole got loose in the second half because it is tough to contain a player of his caliber for 40 minutes. Clearly, CSU's performances against Can't State and Akron support the fact that the Horizon League is a superior conference to the MAC. The Horizon is a vastly underrated league that should be get at least one at large bid for the NCAA tournament. Good luck the rest of the way.

Try channelsurfing.net. Also, the game will be on Sports Time Ohio.

Looking forward to this game tonight as well from a CSU perspective. This game will really let us know where we stand as a basketball team too. Yes, CSU is unbeaten, but Akron is by far the best team we have played to date. To me, this game may be decided down low. The Zeke Marshall vs. Aaron Pogue matchup will be huge and will have a great effect on the outcome. Pogue has a lot of talent, but tends to get in foul trouble and when Pogue is not in the game, CSU is very vulnerable because of the injury of D'Aundray Brown. However, Norris Cole is probably the best individual player the Zips will see this season. He is a stud and if he is hot he could easily go for 35 tonight. He loves the big games. With this being said, I like the Zips by 3. Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope for your team's sake it's close but realistically it wont be. Buffalo is terrible btw, but definitely good for YSU to beat a MAC team. You just got Can't State and Akron still to go. Trust me Zips fans you have nothing to worry about. Wednesday night may be a different story.

Just an FYI, CSU will be 5-0 going in to the game on Wednesday. You guys get a crack at knocking them down.

As a CSU fan, I was excited about the win over Can't. The Vikes were able to neutralize Can't's size advantage by implementing our devastating press defense. That same press defense that last season nearly caused a huge upset over West Virginia last December. CSU was able to handle Greene in the second half by going into a zone. The size of Greene and Manns was killing us and the zone coupled with the press helped bring us back. I am not going to sit here and talk trash and rile people up by saying that CSU is going to beat Akron. It should be an excellent game. One thing that I will tell you about the Vikes is that they can score the basketball. Cole, Harmon, and Montgomery are big time shooters. The Zips are also fortunate that Dee Brown is out for Cleveland State until mid December. Brown is a defensive dynamo and can run the floor well. CSU is a different squad with him in the lineup. With that being said, CSU has had problems in recent years winning on the road. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if CSU lost to Louisiana Lafayette on Friday. And for all the non-believers in Norris Cole, just watch on the 24th. He will be the best player on the floor. He is a big time talent and is probably the best player in the Horizon Conference (and yes, I know that Shelvin Mack is in the Horizon). I am looking forward to this matchup.

I agree. F D'Aundray Brown. CSU in makes mid major top 25. Akron on the come up. http://www.collegeinsider.com/mmpoll/

Thanks Scott. I enjoy talking college hoops. Honestly, I never see the Horizon League tournament coming to the Q. The Horizon has always rewarded the conference champion with home court throughout the tournament and I think its a great idea. By doing this the Horizon, have given more value to the regular season than those conferences that play their championship at a neutral site. Sorry about the soccer game yesterday.

You just keep thinking that the Zips suck. Surprise ... surprise for you. As for sucks canal Waters ... yes, he does. A flake with an ego the size of Toledo. We'll be waiting for his over stuffed sausage face. Waters is a total slime ball. Well, obviously you are delusional. First of all, I never said the Zips suck as a matter of fact, I think the Zips narrowly beat the Vikes in this upcoming matchup. Secondly, Waters has proven to be a class guy during his time at Can't St. and Cleveland State, so to call him a "over stuffed sausage face/ slime ball" is a bit juvenile.

I have to admit as a Viking fan I am glad that we are playing you guys and Can't St. this season. I love the regionalism and to be honest this should become a home and home series every year. The match-up between Akron and CSU will be a great one. This should be a real tight game. CSU is facing some injuries and will be without G Anthony Wells and F D'Aundray Brown. The loss of Brown will hurt us big time because he is such a fantastic defender (he gave Haywood fits last year). Brown will not return until mid December. Cleveland State will put the ball in the basket this season. They have scorers and all eyes better be on Norris Cole. Cole is one of the best guards in THE NATION and could easily go off for 40 on any given night. If the Vikes defend Akron has little chance. That is a big IF! I saw the Zips play two games last year and I was not impressed with either (a loss to Can't at the JAR, and a loss to OU at the Q). Although, I know you are a better team now than back then. Because of home court I give you guys a slight edge. Hopefully, the crowd will be a good one. I am sure they will give Waters a real warm reception.
