  1. we are soooo bad at corners Saad's looked pretty shaky tonight this game is pretty yikes
  2. #14 is, like, the tallest kid on earth ugly game so far, we're lucky to be level still really
  3. this game could use Pina, Fenlanson is really struggling with distribution Riley Grant might facilitate us going a bit more direct as well
  4. a little too interesting in the end, but a win's a win up the zippers
  5. we're still #1 in my heart
  6. dumb question, maybe: if VCU got 56 points, and Creighton only got 55, how aren't they ranked?
  7. as a lifelong pitt fan, the idea that the big east = high profile is a little hmmm to be fair it's still bigger than the MAC
  8. saw the spartans play once this year against the buckeyes Mich St. was clearly the better team, but the bucks managed to eke out a draw by hoofing it in the direction of tall dudes. More proof that soccer is fundamentally nihilistic when it comes to aesthetics/skill, I guess. In any event, should be a good game.
  9. playwright/football club analogies, By Ando Shakespeare is Barca circa 2010 - Technically flawless and pretty obviously the best if we're being honest, but hearing about it all the time gets tiring Arsenal is probably Marlowe - aspires for brilliance but perhaps lacking in execution Spurs is Ben Jonson - Mostly famous for being worse than everyone who matters unfortuneatley that's it, I've exhausted my knowledge of Jacobean writers
  10. He hasn't played in a number of games, I think he's injured
  11. yesterday was pretty shit but firing embick for it is an obviously dumb idea
  12. yeah, there's a good crop of locker room shots post victory on his instagram only if very skinny underwear-clad guys is your cup of tea, of course
  13. teal missed a lot of chances, a few of them pretty good ones, in the UVA game if memory serves
  14. Defensive errors were an issue for sure - Ruhaak had a bit of a shocker all game long, and Gallego had one pretty glaring error as well; With Gallego it feels like a probable pne-off, but I'm concerned in Brad's case the kid might just not have the technique to hack it as an everyday option. Another thing I think bears mentioning is that WVU probably helped us by trying to play a proper football match rather than incessantly lumping it forward at every opportunity - they were sloppy taking it out of the back a few times as well, which led to a few decent chances for us
  15. just got back from Morgantown Not sure that WVU tweets a totally fair characterization to be honest. The game was really stretched at the end, Akron had more in the way of clear cut chances than WVU during that period, and over the course of the game as well. Pina did have a pretty good game, though I think he really only needed to make one especially noteworthy save if memory serves. As a whole I think we looked really good up until the first goal, pretty flat for awhile after that, and then intermittently good/kinda shit At the end we moved away from a 4-3-3 into more of a 4-2-3-1 (or a 4-3-3 with an upside down midfield triangle if you prefer). Thought Caso put in a good defensive shift when he came on.
  16. roll call - anyone headed down?
  17. it's a shorter drive for me - about 1.5 I think contemplating it
  18. UA soccer rivals, ranked 6. Penn State? Or Creighton, maybe 5. Indiana 4. Hartwick Circa 2008 3. Northwestern 2. Cleveland State 1. Ohio State This list is Ando Certified™
  19. Agree we could use a pacier option up top, though I don't think it has to be at the the no.9 position necessarily Last year we sometimes had Freddy Koroma playing roughly the "Theo Walcott" position - As high/higher than the main striker, making runs over the top from out wide (Ronaldo is another like this). We don't have anyone this year with Mattocks/Yedlin levels of pace from what I've seen but I wouldn't exactly call our team slow either.
  20. https://twitter.com/NSCAACollege/status/382654811478695936 apparently stream won't be up until after the game as a replay
  21. yeah Frenchy's on the radio stream at least if you aren't listening he had Wil Trapp in the booth earlier http://www.iheart.com/live/3455/?autoplay=true
  22. one nil to the Akronnnnn
  23. Souders kinda reminds me of Brandon McDonald in that regard - a pretty strong centerhalf without the ball, but his distribution is a little blerghasdasaafasfsa In terms of building from the back, though, Pina's distribution is pretty good. Much better kicker than Meves ever was, though the command/shot stopping is maybe not quite there yet
