  1. I have to admit, I breathed a little easier seeing this last post Let me now OFFICIALLY welcome you aboard Zeke's Mom and entire family! It is wonderful to have you :)Here is the Beacon Write-upLink
  2. Seems my original information was a little old. Thus, I will correct myself before a Bull Troll (I kinda like that) snorts up their lunch. UB has TWO players currently in the NFL!Link
  3. You bring up some great points concerning the strength of the soccer program, 72 Roo That's nice information on Mac actively seeking C-USA affiliation as well. BUT, you might want to reconsider the whole "pronoun antecedent" deal in your last paragraph. I'm just saying. Flowers on Mother's Day will only get you so far
  4. Smiles are EVERYWHERE!
  5. Let's see there'e WR Drew Haddad for the hometown Bills.......ummmm then there's.......let's see......whose that dude who used to catch those passes from Bethel Park's own Joe Freedy........ahh yes, Drew Haddad, but I guess I already mentioned him........ummmmm..........uhhhhhhh................concentrate............gimme a sec will ya!........(Jeopardy Music)....................and finally justCRICKETS
  6. It's nice to see "Ozoner the Douche" being his usual self over there.
  7. Only 18 minutes away!!!
  8. Leakin article from today. The team is still expecting the largest crowd of the year. It took a while for me to decide whether I like the $1 ticket idea or not, but I've come to the conclusion that it's a good idea (and not just because I've added my son and his buddy to my entourage for this game ). Why not get as many people there as possible? It's NOT going to be nearly a sell-out anyway, even with the discount. I look at this as a one-time deal. NO MORE discounts after this game!!! All discounted tickets get to be buried in the hillside along with the urine troughs (any still remaining), the light polls, and paint chip/turf/rubble salad, to be found by another civilization circa 2525 AD (Zager and Evans).Link
  9. For the life of me, I can't think of anyone in this community who might place their own agenda ahead of the success of our brand new stadium
  10. He's also listed 1st on the depth chart, so I assume he is cleared to play from his injury (concussion?) last week.
  11. Oh no! Say it ain't so! Isn't the Texas Bowl carried on the NFL Network? That is the only major sports channel my cable provider here in Central Ohio doesn't pick up. That would be a tragedy for me!I think a lot of us would be in the same boat! I know my cable company only offers it on the highesy tier. Houston, we could have a problem I realize we can't all travel to the game (particularly with this scary economy), but IF the Zips are fortunate enough to end up in Houston, Toronto, Shreveport. or wherever I sure hope we can at least make our presence felt. There's no better way to assure future invites, than to travel in numbers and spend decent money when given the chance. It's a GIVEN that we'd travel well to Detroit.
  12. Latest forecast is still holding true to what BleacherBum said.Weather LinkA cool, yet dry, night will be perfect for ushering the old lady into retirement the right way. I'll be there along with 4 other Zip faithfuls, and I'm not ashamed to admit that I'll be a little misty-eyed at some point towards the end of the game, regardless of the outcome. I estimate that, watching football alone, I've spent about 2 entire weeks of my life in the Rubber Bowl.
  13. Pinch me, I MUST be dreaming As Frenchy might say, "outstanding!"
  14. The "Buchtel Field" I remember is on the other side of Exchange, bordered by Wheeler and Kling.
  15. The Leakin has a story today that says the largest home crowd of the year is expected on Thursday (it doesn't saying WHO is expecting it though )BJ LinkI'm thinking 15K tops will actually show, but the announced crowd might be near 20K.
  16. So you are saying it is IMPOSSIBLE for the Zips to lose to Buffalo and beat OU and Temple? I might put this as "unlikely" but certainly not impossible. Oh and this is just ONE way the Zips could finish 7-5 without winning the division. The other part of the equation is how many BCS-conference bids will remain "unfilled", leaving extra spots open for 7-5 teams from non-BCS leagues.Back to the speculation (and that's all it is of course), Mark Schlabach of ESPN also has the Zips in Shreveport.ESPN Bowl Projections
  17. Thank you, once again Mr. Delay, for giving the Zips continual incentive to keep proving you wrong.Hey, jstoudemire, can you please make sure Bowser and company see this
  18. Perhaps D-O-O-G-I-E is trying to make amends with his players, well at least the one player who has kept them from being winless in recent years.BJ Article on Edelman/Cribbs ComparisonBTW, I just couldn't help taking a small "shot" at the flushes in the comments section, since we all know that
  19. The Leakin has an article on the game's history, as part of its series on the last days of the Rubber Bowl, although the "curtain fell" on this game a while ago Link
  20. It looks like the Zips are opening as 2 to 2 1/2 point favorites, which tells me the oddmakers think the Bulls might be ever-so-slightly better but are giving UA the nod because of home field. It should be interesting how the line moves, if at all, between now and Thursday.USA Today LinkBTW, I think betED and Logans simply haven't published their NCAA FB odds as yet......update.....Logans has us as a 3 point favorite.
  21. This year's home opponents have been the toughest I've seen in a long time.We lost to Ball State -- a poss Top 10 teamTo Cincy -- challenging for Big East Titleand BG -- gave this one away...so the 1-3 is a little deceiving....I've said this before and I'll say it again. The 2008 home slate is simply the BEST home schedule the Zips have EVER faced, top to bottom.
  22. You are correct BigZip. I was also at the EMU triple OT game. I don't think we can excuse the web site due to this particular game going into OT either, because just a few years later (see link) the Zips beat up on Howard (not Hampton lol), once again scoring 65 points in a game that not only avoided overtime, but you might say it went into "undertime". If I recall correctly, in the 2nd half a running clock was used per an agreement from both benches.Link
  23. I find it odd that Kennedy is showing this much patience with Martin. IMO, and certainly not that I really care about Can't St (just being honest), he should have displayed the same patience with Jim Corrigall when he was fired in 1993. Even though the flushes records were bad, they were clearly improving (IMO) at that time. But, hey, I'm not complaining and there's no getting around the fact that
  24. Thanks for the correction, akronad.
  25. I wonder what Kenny is thinking now, with the 'Cuse up a quick 14-0 at Rutgers? Meybe he'll start "sweating" the assumed Greg Robinson firing at season's end. The game is on ESPNU for those interested.
