  1. Long story short, players lose a year of eligibility on the front end when they come in as non-qualifiers, but they can have that 4th year of eligibility added again on the back end if they demonstrate that they are on a path towards graduation.

    Thanks for explaining Skip!

  2. @AkronZips71 This may be a little off topic but I didn't want to start a new topic...every talks about Tree's 5th year, can anyone how explain to me how Tree and Harney can have a 5th year? (I really don't know and have been curious about it for awhile).

It'll be all the more sweeter when we bust up Buffalo at home to Finnish the season with a 5-game winning streak, taking the momentum into the MACT. :D

  3. Nice come back, but with Harney and McAdams AND now Kretzer out, there's no way we should have come back and won this. We have to start playing complete games, one game we play unbelievable defense, the next we play awesome offense with no defense...

  4. I'm pretty sure he said something like "I would like to apologize to...because I feel terrible."...idk, call me a cynic...I'm not buying it. The part that sealed the deal for me was when I read the quote from the ABJ that said something about finding and accepting Jesus...blah, blah. Anytime I hear someone say that, a red flag goes up. It's a PR 101 buzz phrase; designed to play on people's feelings and sensibilities rather than rely on rational thought and evidence.

@GP1  let it be known I'm not a JT fan, however I trust him over Worthless-cil to market an ill-fated come back.

  5. @Dave, I already frequent TeamRankings.com, I wasn't aware of StatSheet. I find TeamRankings to be quite reliable for comparative sake. I also find them to be quite accurate when it comes to some of the statistical probabilities, of course that's probably a little confirmation bias on my part, but taking a look at their stats before the game tends to put me in the right frame on what to expect.

  6. I've said it before, I'll say it a million times more: Bowden is the best thing to happen to this football program, second only to John Heisman. The guy is a good coach, he's a good public figure and if there was truly anyone who could turn this thing around, it's him

For the first time EVER, I'm actually excited for next football season. And I can't wait to see some of these guys at the spring game.

  7. I agree that it was good for him to talk to those kids and those parents. But you guys cannot be serious about having him back on the team. People deserve second chances, but second chances don't mean in the exact same position that you were before.

A chance to finish his degree? Absolutely. A chance to compete with the team that he single handedly nearly self-destructed? No. Absolutely not.

It's not just desperate akronzips71, its downright pathetic.

  8. I will say last year when they were on the winning streak, students were showing up at record levels from what I remember. It's certainly easier to market students coming to games (note most students are STILL commuters) when you're on a 10+ game winning streak...

  9. I'm sorry but I don't get why some here are outraged at others for being worried about the maturity of our seniors. Yes everyone needs to be treated as a human being, but in college you're supposed to (hopefully) do a certain amount of growth and maturity. One of those things that you are (hopefully) supposed to learn is how to better manage your life so that it doesn't affect others, and hopefully yourself. Getting suspended for any reason as a senior affects both. Simple as that.

  10. @skip-zip that's exactly what I'm saying. I often went to the floor seats, but now that I graduated I'm not allowed too. However that's the problem I was trying to point out. The students on campus are at an all time low when it comes to being interested, and I just don't get it. I'll throw it back to the culture conversation, how on earth to we fix the culture in this place!?

  11. I'm sorry, but I'm sort of getting tired of the "people make mistakes when their young" and "treat everyone like human being" lines. Though we all agree there is some growing you do when your young, and we all do make mistakes; but if you're still having the same mishaps AFTER having supposedly shown growth...it's not growth. I expect the freshman and sophomores to be suspended because of personal issues, not a well seasoned senior.

We shouldn't expect everyone to be saints, but we should expect people to learn from their mistakes; to build upon their character. And there is nothing wrong with that, and that's the best support we can give to people.

  12. My friend and I went to the game last night and we're both recent grad alumni. The one comment we both had to each other was how absolutely pathetic the student body is being. Seriously? We had an attendance of 3642? And from what I noticed, most in the student section were recent alumni, with a few current students sprinkled in.

I don't know how we'll ever get support for a new arena if we can't get students (who get into the games for free) to the game.

  13. I'll be at the game! I expect to see a rebound from the recent loss. I will be interested to see who gets more playing time in lieu of Reggie and Harney being out. Who shows leadership potential for next season?

As always, this season will boil down to what happens in Cleveland, need I remind everyone that in 2009 we were 23-12 and went on to the NCAAT...in 2011 we were 23-12 and went to the NCAAT. All those years in-between we still fought our way to the MAC C game and narrowly won it. We are having a good season, though not ideal.
