  1. I think the reason we are not seeing as many recruits is the fact that this coaching staff is using a high percentage of the available scholarships on transfers. The nice thing about transfers is they are ready to play when they come in, that will help us continue to be more competitive and put up more W's. How many scholarships do we have available? We shouldn't get upset until we know what is available and who we have transferring in. I have all of the confidence in the World in Bowden and his staff. If last year is any indication where the program is going we all need to be excited. We finished strong and should get off to a strong start. When was the last time Akron football expected to win games. It's a great feeling!!! Go Zips!!!!
  2. Struggling to find any coverage, the game was in VA, but I did find this clip that shows one of his TD strikes. WVEC.com | Hampton Roads Videos, Breaking News | wvec.com ... http://www.wvec.com/video?id=237855961&amp...f=articlevidmod - - Cached - Similar pages
  3. I can't wait to see him in a Zips uniform. He had three series and threw three TD passes. He looked really good, great size and great arm strength. He looked really comfortable in the pocket...... Go Zips!!!
  4. In Light of yesterdays events, I couldn't agree more. It's a sad time for Akron football, but this is a great pick up.
  5. Horrible news, so sorry for his Family and Friends and also his family of players and coaches who Loved him. Coach Tank you will be missed. Only know you will be in a better place. Thoughts and Prayers to his family....
  6. How many of these guys will be coming in this semester to be able to participate in Spring workouts. I know Givens and Kincade. Are there others? Go Zips!!
  7. Great Story, Just another reason to be proud of the student athletes at Akron!!! Go Zips!!!
  8. Winning brings fans!! If we can keep the momentum the numbers will take care of themselves!! Go Zips!!
  9. I said before the Can't win was the turning point of the Terry Bowden era!!! This win caps off a great season and a preview of what's to come. It appeared that there were a lot of recruits at the game. Beating both Can't and Toledo can only help our recruiting in OH. The kids that were at the game and stuck around for the teams celebration had to be excited about the future of the Zips program. Congratulations to coach Bowden and his staff for a tremendous year and bringing respect back to Akron football. Thank you to the players for believing in the staff and the program. Let's sign some of these recruits and continue the winning. It's a great time for Akron football...... Go Zips!!
  10. This is a nice article about the W. PA kids. I had a chance to see Kincade play when I traveled to Darlington to see Malik Hooker from, New Castle. I wanted to see him since he is a OSU recruit and thought it would be a great opportunity to see Kincade as well. New Castle was a much better team, just the athletes compared to a bad Blackhawk team (The paper that day had NC as a 30+ point favorite) so I wasn't expecting much and figured I would be home early. Blackhawk was kept in the game by Kincade. He single handedly gave his team a chance to win the game, a game that was a shootout and came down to the last drive. The thing I have to disagree with is that Kincade struggles under pressure and on the run. The kid was fearless, he was under pressure every pass and seemed willing to stay in the pocket and take the hit. When he did take off he threw the ball well on the run, but always seemed to stay committed to the pass. This kid is going to be great when he has protection, he seemed to check down and read very well. Even when his team got down nobody left the stadium. I mentioned it to what was probably a local fan, and he said with Chandler we always have a shot. Nice compliment to the young man, and the guy was right. I also took in the Beaver Falls play-off game this weekend, Boxen is a beast on both sides of the ball and Cottrill who they said just came back from an injury, just appears to be very athletic in the way he moves on the field. I wish he was at full strength so I could have got a good evaluation on him. The team Beaver Falls played was weak but these two kids are going to be nice pick ups for the zips.
  11. The Kan't win was huge and what I believe to be the turning point of the Bowden era. If we can end with 4 wins that is a great year. If we can upset Toledo and get a 5th win that would be tremendous. No matter how you slice it three wins with a chance to get 4 is just the beginning of great things to come. We had a great turnout of recruits at the Kan't game and they got a chance to witness a great win. I'm telling you people will look back at this win and remember it as the turning point for AKRON FOOTBALL!!!!! Great win ZIPS!!!!
  12. I saw a lot of attention around a tall kid and was told it was Chandler Kincaid the QB commit that is coming in Jan. There was also a kid with the name Swanson on his sweatshirt seemed to be with Kincaid, I looked him up on Rivals and he is a running back/D back from Aliquippa that was offered. It appeared the coaches had a lot of Love for these two kids before the game. GO ZIPS!!!

  18. Recruiting Sat. - Any noteable recruits at the Game?
  19. Definitely need to tighten up the secondary, but it is a win and our record can't be worse than last year so we have something to build off of. Go Zips!!
  20. I see that Rivals has him ranked the #18 Pro Style QB in the Country. I looked at the Hudl film from his game. His receivers bobbled two of the passes that were then intercepted. He took a hugh cheap shot by two different defenders on the same play, early in the game but continued to play. I wouldn't expect much as far as stats for him based on the talent that he was playing with. I counted at least 15 hits in the little bit of film I watched. He was running for his life. I did however notice the team he was playing was ranked in the top 5 in the state. Can't wait to see him in a zips uniform. Go Zips!!
  21. http://www.timesonline.com/sports/high_sch...bd8a232ab9.html Chandler Kincade isn’t necessarily in a rush to leave Blackhawk. He’s just in a hurry to start his college career. That’s the bottom line for Kincade, a star quarterback who’ll graduate high school in December and enroll at Akron in time for spring practice. “Chandler was a sophomore when he and his family started talking about it,” said Blackhawk offensive coordinator Sam Nardone. “So we (coaches) sat down with Chandler and his mom and dad and discussed the pros and cons. We told him he’d miss some things in his senior year like senior trips and the prom and playing on the basketball team. But he was OK with that. Chandler enjoys being at Blackhawk. He just wants to get to the next level and be ready to play. That is the goal he set years ago.” When Kincade first thought about enrolling early in college, he had made a verbal commitment right after his sophomore season to Pitt when Todd Graham was coach. But shortly after Graham left for Arizona and Pitt hired Paul Chryst, Kincade de-committed. In June, Kincade opted for Akron, where Terry Bowden is set to begin his second season as coach. The son of former Florida State coach Bobby Bowden, Terry runs a pass-happy spread offense that Kincade is eager to learn. “I couldn’t be happier with where I am right now,” said Kincade, who’s Pennsylvania’s second-rated pro-style high school quarterback, according to rivals.com. “People ask me if other schools might come in and ask me to change my mind. No. I am not going to change my mind. I love Akron. I love what the staff is doing. I feel Akron is the perfect fit for me.” **See link for complete story**
  22. Chandler really sounds mature in his interviews, with Bowden putting so much emphasis on Western PA, landing Chandler is really going to help secure a lot of kids from the WPIAL Great job coaching staff.... Go Zips
  23. Todd Thomas announced he is leaving Pitt today, I believe he was a two yr. starter, what is interesting is he is from the same school as two recent commits Boxen and Cotrill, Let's see if Chandler can use his magic and get us another Beaver Falls guy. Go Zips
  24. Saw Chandler on Campus Today, he is a big boy. Look forward to seeing him in a zip uniform....Once again great job to the coaching staff these are the kind of recruits who turn a program around......Bowden will have AKRON on top of the MAC in no time.... GO ZIPS!!
  25. Great Pick up!!! Thank You Chandler, keep them coming!!!! Go Zips
