I was at Bronco Stadium when we played them there in 79..it's beautiful. This soccer stadium is such a stuipid idea. I agree....he didn't trash UA....he just admitted he wasn't good enough to get significant court time, so he transferred to less talented team that will play him more.

Maybe Akron and Can't didn't vote in favor of you joining the MAC, but it wasn't anything personal.NE Ohio, and Ohio for that matter is already MAC saturated. The last thing they wanted to do was admit another school from NE Ohio.I wasn't that thrilled with Buffalo either, but the logic was to admit a new market to the conference. It had nothing to do with the quality of YSU's program.The same line of thinking went toward voting in Temple...unfortunately...in football only.I wish the MAC would make a rule...all sports or nothing.

We had a nice rivalry going in the DII and DIAA years, but personally, I wouldn't want to play Youngstown again just not to lay eyes on the Steel/Tire Trophy again.That had to be the ugliest thing!!!

I agree.However, even though this season is a disappointment, we beat a BCS team in their house and we've won a league championship and made a bowl appearance.Now I don't know if you can attribute all of that to JD or not, but I do know that I feel pretty good about the direction of the football program.We're going to learn a lot next year.Also, lets hope the stadium issue takes on more clarity.By the way, did I mention that

To continue our discussion on the prowess of UA marketing....I'm at the Rubber Bowl last night for the WMU game. I have my little certificate that came with my season tickets telling me that all I had to do was show up to the gift shop at the Rubber Bowl to get my free Zips blanket.So, I get up to the window and present my certificate. The girl behind the counter says they don't have any. (I knew something like this was going to happen). I pointed out that the certificate said that I could pick it up at the Rubber Bowl on game day, and this is game day.She said they had given a lot away and didn't have anymore. Then, what appeared to be her supervisor came up and pointed out in a rude way that this WAS the last home game of the season. I pointed out again that all the certificate said was that all I had to do was show up on game day at the Bowl..nothing about first come first serve.She became really snotty and said if I want to complain I had to go to the ticket office. I told her that I was making my comments for her to pass on customer input to her superior. Very, Very typical Akron U...and I've had that season ticket since 1985!I wonder if the marketing department has a course on customer satisfaction? If so, I suggest the sports front office attend!

I know all that and you are nit picking and besides, all this is off the original topic of why Cleveland stations don't cover UA and Can't.All of the Youngstown teams, pro or otherwise, are Youngstown's. Their TV stations will cover themAkron and Can't, although in the Cleveland ADI (are of dominate influence), are not Cleveland's...thus, the coverage or interest isn't the same.A Youngstown/Cleveland comparision on this is just not apples to apples.

The general admission side was full, but scattered, if you can invision that.I'm glad the ESPN cameras were pointed that way...made the game look pretty well attended.I will agree the reserved side was not that full...3,500 at the most.It is so difficult to guess with the end zone closed, but I would say about 11,000...13,000 at the very most.Box score attendance is obviously "paid" not "showed."Beautiful weather. Tailgate lot was well attended...I'd say a little more than usual.Got a little chilly when the sun went down with the Zips!

Market size is relevent only in the sense that Youngstown doesn't have any pro sports, therefore can spend more time on YSU. The Penguins are their local team.But you are right...winning creates a buzz and buzz creates coverage.
