Monmouth was OUT because of the 3 losses to teams over 200 in RPI, according to the selection committee. That's a note for the future, because we spent so much time talking about them here.
-
Syracuse - 68 Michigan - 58 Akron - 36 F these guys who select teams with no regard for performance.
-
But there's other Mid Majors on that list, and we are ranked higher than MANY of them.
-
I'm watching it, and I didn't catch that. But I will trust that's what was said if 3 of you heard that.

Highest RPI ever this year. That makes it pretty impossible for someone to argue your claim. -
This is interesting, because it's possible that we could be in this group of 4. But, I GUARANTEE you that even though the NIT historically creates close geographic matchups, they will NOT send the Suckeyes to Akron. Not a chance in Hell. They will give them a top 4 seed in their region, and send them some other team that's relatively close in proximity to make sure they get a winnable home game. As long as people strive to make rules that are intended to make things right, there will always be ways around them. I'm sure there was no 2nd thought about sending us to OSWho in 1989.

Sure, lets bring back a former assistant, who is still an assistant, never been a head coach, and has been a part of a program that's been heading downward annually for the last 4 seasons. I can't help it. I need some therapy today after the weekend's events, and typing and venting is making me feel better -
BINGO!! It is.
-
We had a #68 RPI in 2007 We have a #36 RPI in 2016 I sure hope that's an enormous advantage in seeding in the NIT compared to the 2007 team.
-
Listen. First of all, I'd say we have less than a 10% chance of getting the At Large today. It's almost hopeless. But, that doesn't change the fact that it SHOULD happen. Why is it such a stretch for some people to expect that the #36 team in the country shouldn't be placed in the NCAA tournament in spots #41 thru #44???? (The 11 Seeds).

I don't want to post this to raise anyone's hope of a possible NCAA bid. I lost that hope a few weeks ago. But I really want you guys to see this. St. Mary's and Valpo look to really be at the top of most people's Bubble Watch. And since they are also non-majora, lets compare them to Akron. RPI: Valpo - 49 St. Mary's - 41 Akron - 36 SOS: Valpo - 179 St. Mary's - 164 Akron - 134 Record Against Top 100: Valpo - 4-2 St. Mary's - 6-3 Akron - 6-2 Top 25 Wins: Valpo - 0 St. Mary's - 0 Akron - 0 So, why SHOULDN'T we be pissed off if St. Mary's or Valpo gets an NCAA at large bid over Akron?

I was just pointing out to you that you were factually incorrect about Keith's postseason record. I have no interest in debating with you about something else. Like I said, you seem definitely entrenched in your belief that we will never amount to anything with Keith at the helm. So be it. -
1) He has a contract until 2023 2) He just won 26 games, and has Akron ranked higher Nationally than we've ever been at the end of a season. For me, I don't see this as even a viable discussion this year. And just out of curiosity, I'd love to see if any coach has ever been fired.....ever....for having a 26 win season, just because he lost his conference tournament title game.
-
I just read the Washington Post article this morning about the Bubble Teams. It's nice to see that they include Akron in that list, and talk about us at length. What will make all of you sick is that they believe that Akron will be the highest ranked team left OUT of the tournament this year. And they also talk about how Top-40 RPI teams like Akron are a LOCK, historically......IF they come from a "power conference". This supports everything Keith talked about with the biases of tournament selection in his postgame last night.

And I would argue that Akron would sell more tickets to have OSWho as a home game. Have you ever seen some of the attendance numbers in recent years when some of these "entitled schools" host an NIT game that they don't care to be playing? -

First of all, you selectively decided to only look at games after the MAC tournament. They put up a graphic of his postseason record during the EMU game, and it's actually pretty good. Secondly, you can have your opinion. Everyone else can have theirs too. But it's certainly rather definitive to say that the program is as far as it can go. That's an opinion, not a fact. if you want to argue that as an opinion, then maybe you could start a dialogue here. But it's been done before, at length. -
Has anyone ever seen what some of the "big schools" draw from NIT games? When they don't want to be there? If we play OSWho, and attendance and money are the goal of the NCAA, they'd be better served to put the game at the JAR. We'd pack the place !! And we should get the home game anyway, based on the rankings of the two teams, which isn't even close.

On a side note: For those of you who can stomach watching the Replay of the game, I'm sure you'll notice the Elbow Shot that's delivered to Reggie by a UB player after he hits that 3-ball late in the game. I love watching Jake jump to his defense. Hard to believe that 3 officials never saw a thing. -

When I first starting reading this, it seemed like Sarcasm. By the end, I think you're really serious. Ok, lets look at the facts. I guess someone can have whatever opinion they want, but to say that his postseason record is "terrible" is factually incorrect. Without trying to look it up, I know that he's won a lot more postseason games than he's lost at Akron. They even made a point to talk about it on the broadcast of our game on Thursday. -

And here's ANOTHER article about Akron being in the conversation for an At-Large. http://www.hustlebelt.com/mac-basketball/2016/3/12/11212826/ncaa-tournament-akron-zips-at-large-bid-bubble Why did it take until the night before the Selection Show for people to start talking about Akron? We're they waiting to see if we got to the Championship Game first? If the MAC offices saw this happening, why weren't they talking about it a week ago to try to get a buzz going? However, I just noticed that our RPI dropped to #36 this morning. That's certainly not going to be good enough. I suppose the Villanova loss didn't help, and there must have been some other things that happened, besides our own loss, that dropped us 7 spots. That seemed odd after we haven't had much movement in either direction over the last several weeks. -

I just decided that I have a real problem with these "bracketologists", and the absurdity of how much they pay attention to the MAC. Yesterday, they had Akron as a #12 seed. It was just updated for the Buffalo win, and they simply just replace #12 Akron with #12 Buffalo in the same spot? Nice job. -

My real problem with Kwan tonight was how many times he took jumpers without Big Dog in there. Knowing we're playing without any rebounder in the game, those shots needed to be taken by wings and guards. -

I did too. I think Buffalo is the tougher matchup for us.
