  1. So, with the 8,000 they've given away to Recent Grads, they've sold maybe 18,000? That sounds pretty close to what most people have predicted, and I wonder how many of those are Pitt fans making the trip? I guess we'll find out at game time.
  2. LOL....Keener, I saw that also. But, I don't understand what it is, other than a game announcement.
  3. If we score 41 points against Pitt, the ACC will consider dropping them from the conference. I'll be overjoyed with half that many, and I think it might still be enough to win.
  4. Ok, the "numerous" games against Dayton and Xavier meant More than One
  5. Ok. About the "attendance" predictions. There might be as many as 10 to 12 thousand fewer people than the number of tickets that they will say that they "sold". We know that. Should we give two numbers? Maybe I'll take a stab at doing multiple numbers. "Announced" Attendance: 23,000 Actual Attendance - Start of Game: 14,000 Actual Attendance - 4th Quarter (if Akron is winning): 9,000 Actual Attendance - 4th Quarter (if Akron is losing by more than a TD): 3,000 Game Prediction: Please, please, please show me that our defensive effort at Heinz Field last year was no fluke. If so, we can win another low scoring game, even with little offense. Akron - 17 Pitt - 14
  6. Taxpayer, look at the Suckeye's home OOC schedule over the last couple of decades, and you'll get your answer about why they won't schedule a threat like Akron in November/December. We have been unsuccessful in getting them on our schedule since the 1989 NIT, in which they had no choice. We have already played Dayton and Xavier on numerous occasions over the years, and both have also given us a game at home in exchange.
  7. ZipGrad01.....they gave TWO GA SEASON tickets to EVERY new graduate, which includes Pitt. I'm just guessing that's about 8,000 tickets per game. Keener....glad I could help. I actually had not even thought about entering twice until I had those tickets in my hands. I've done it before, but now I am guaranteed that I can get back in without having to sneak into a gate where an attendant is not paying attention, or make another excuse about a "family emergency"
  8. Gotcha Keener. Here's the sad truth. I know someone who got these Free Tickets, and they gave them to me because they know I go to Zips games. They know they were never going to use them. But, I am going to use them to re-enter so I can go to the parking lot at halftime for some additional "refreshment"
  9. Thanks for the feedback, Dave. I am aware of some of those rules/tricks on counting ticket sales. I have no idea if we utilized any of that to account for these 8,000 GA tickets that have been distributed for each game to new grads. And maybe more importantly concerning this Friday, do the 8,000 tickets count towards full capacity (whether paid for or not), which limits us to only be able to "sell" another 22,000 to say that we have a "sellout"?
  10. I immediately have these questions regarding the Recent Grad Free Tickets deal. 1) Can we count those as "Paid Attendance"? If so, with two tickets to each new graduate, what does that amount to? Maybe 8,000 or so tickets that we can automatically add to our count for every game? 2) Even if we are NOT counting those as paid attendance, do we have to stop selling tickets at 22,000 for the Pitt game? You can't sell more tickets than seats available, and you have to account for the Free Tickets, right? 3) If 99% of our students never utilized their Free Ticket benefit when they were students, how can we expect them to use them after graduation, when they no longer live on/near campus, and now have to pay to park?
  11. Yep. Charlie's Sr. year, right after JD arrived, and only a year before a MAC title. And this Virginia team was ranked in the same neighborhood as this OU team. This team would later rattle off 5 straight wins that season, and got a late season meeting with Miami that could have won us the MAC title. Lets hope this team moves forward just like the 2004 team.
  12. Coach is bringing up the Running Game against OU again, and called it "solid", and mentioned that we had more yards than 10 of the last 13 Oklahoma opponents. I know that coaches can put a positive spin on anything, but it was surely a silver lining on an otherwise rough offensive performance.
  13. I definitely think that one thing that has not gotten mentioned enough is how well we've grown on the DL. Kudos to Terry and his staff for shoring up an area where it's been tough for us to get multiple quality guys at one time for a big part of our D-1A history.
  14. a-zip...I really have to ask what "it is a great time to re-invent ourselves as The Ohio Tech Zips" means. At first, I thought it was the start of something sarcastic.
  15. After seeing this, and listening to Bowden in the postgame, it appears that he was going to stick to his plan to run the football, no matter what. And he was right that we had "some" success running the football. Beyond that, absolutely nothing to be encouraged about with the offense. Pohl is still Pohl, and Chapman looks to be much more of a runner than a thrower. Good News of the Day: Pitt struggled against Youngstown.
  16. Loyal Zip...I got an e-mail message back from them also. Bummer.
  17. I like how Oklahoma intimidates the visitors by making you walk over their National Championship years. Maybe when it was reported earlier in the week that Johnny J's would have a watch party....they weren't aware that it was PPV ? Balsy, I remember those conversations last year about organizing Watch Parties, and not many people joined in to say that they would attend.
  18. Looking at that list actually makes me feel worse. 1) That's sick to think that this was all there was over an entire decade where we compiled over 200 wins. 2) A few of those were opening round NIT games. That tells you were those teams stood. 3) The "names" of most of those teams, unfortunately, were not indicative of their quality at the time. I think someone would have to be in extreme denial to ignore the fact that this program lacks significant victories. It might even be hard to argue with anyone who says we've never had any significant victories.
  19. Heads Up to Everyone: I found out last night that Johnny J's may NOT have the game tomorrow. Apparently, they have to pay a lot more to broadcast this game on PPV than the average person pays to get it at home. And understandably, they are probably doubting whether people will show up. I encourage everyone who wants to go there to call them and let them know that Akron fans are showing up. And call them in advance of the game tomorrow to make sure it's a GO. This is our opportunity to show them that Zips Fans want to have football gatherings. Lets not blow this opportunity !!
  20. What's silly is allowing people to imply that people in the North don't experience high heat and humidity, especially in August when our players are going through pre-season workouts.
  21. Zipgrad01....do you live in Akron? We've been over 90 degrees 7 times in the last month, and you can add a few more if you add in the last week of July. And several more times within the last month we've been within a few degrees of 90.
  22. I'm always amazed at the number of Bubbas down South who don't understand that our guys train in 80-90 degree weather in August. Note to Cletus in Oklahoma: It won't be snowing here for several more months. We have hot summers too
  23. No matter who was the victim of this witch hunt, I think points 2 and 3 in this article are the most important. It's all a one sided process for the NFL. No questioning of anyone, and no disclosure of evidence before you have to attend a hearing? I'm not saying that the NFL should have a system of discipline that mirrors our judicial system, but it's obvious that it's completely one-sided, and unfair to the players involved. Expect this to be the beginning of big changes. And I need to add....I'm usually against things that favor "spoiled" pro athletes. But not this time. It's ridiculous.
  24. Zippy5....those are good ones too. No doubt. I think you see almost all of those mentioned in conjunction all the time. And for the record....it's 7 out of the last 9 trips to the title game. We didn't make it the last two years. But I believe that the 7 in a row was a very significant accomplishment to mention, until that string was broken.
  25. Dr. Z....I'm well aware of all of that. I'm asking for ACCOMPLISHMENTS of the program. What's more significant, right now, than the decade of consecutive 20 win seasons?
