  1. Ok. We probably should end this. If were in 2nd place with only 2 road wins, only a game back, and own the tiebreaker against the only team in front of us, then obviously there's a pretty good chance that we can win the title. If you feel that it's not possible, then that's you opinion.
  2. Really Happy? No Up To Par with previous Dambrot teams? No (although I haven't looked at past conference road records) Enough to win a MAC title? Obviously Yes, based on the current standings.
  3. Yep. So, we could have as few as Zero, or as many as 4 conference road wins at this point. So again, what is "acceptable" at this point, for a young team that lost it's best player? There's only one team in front of us, and we own the tiebreaker against them. So apparently our 2 road wins are enough to contend for a MAC title.
  4. Considering that they were both late, nail-bitter wins, we could easily be at ZERO road wins right now too. Right? So, what can we define as "acceptable"?
  5. I've already said that I love that we have 2 conference road wins, but I'd still like a 3rd one. I think @Miami might be the best remaining chance. These stats from French are unbelievable...for the LOSING team. 1) We had 30 more FG attempts. 2) We had 28 offensive rebounds. 3) We outscored their bench 34 to 4.
  6. I think I just heard that we are 14 of 48 from the field.
  7. No betting line on how many times French says "Hoooo-llllyy Cow!"?
  8. The sponsorship related promotions are all done by IMG. It's been that way for many years. I'm not trying to cut on anyone's skills or abilities. I am just trying to give all of you guys some insight into how things are structured, and who is actually making decisions.
  9. I know this means nothing.... But in today's update, this guy now thinks that BOWLING GREEN would be the MAC representative? Really? The same BG that we've beaten twice? Yep...maybe he does hate us.
  10. Please folks, some of you are again making the assumption that when some young person gets hired into an athletic dept. and given a title like "marketing director" that they become a decision maker on strategies and policies.
  11. I feel for you. And I like your attitude, being a loyal Zips fan while living down there. Kudos to you. On the other hand, half of my family has moved to that area over the last couple of decades, after living in NE Ohio. And ALL of them are AKRON GRADS.......but today, they are all Buckeye Honks, who vehemently defend all of the corruption, cheating, legal troubles, etc. It's sad.
  12. If the Governor thinks costs at public universities in the State of Ohio are too high, I wonder if he'll ask his alma mater (OSWho) to stop spending millions more than everyone else in the state on Athletics? Actually, maybe the Governor should suggest that we take the $150k+ per athlete that OSWho spends each year, and spread that around to the rest of the D-1 schools. Why would anyone care? If any of us wins, it's good for all of us. Right? TeamOhio ?
  13. I'll at least say this much.... At a D-1 school, the evaluation of candidates for a Football or Basketball head coaching job would probably be the two most impactful decisions that an AD would ever have to make.
  14. Thanks for keeping this going, Balsy. When I started that "What can WE do" thread, it didn't seem like we got enough people interested to make it worth our while. I like the idea of getting fans out there in the community at gatherings, and showing that we exist. I think it will make more people recognize that it's cool to be a Zips fan!!
  15. I don't want to imply anything, but could the real problem be that participation in the organization has just waned over the last several years? Maybe some "older" people are still leading the group because younger people have not been willing to step up and take more responsibility? I don't know, but maybe we should be thanking these older people for trying to keep this thing alive. And I don't know any of them, just to be clear. Sure, new leadership may be the answer, but we need to know why things are the way they are before we can solve the problem.
  16. Could that simply mean that their conference foes, where they play about 2/3 of their games, suck so bad that the small number of OOC games that they play has little impact?
  17. It's about time !! Look at how competitive the league is this year? There's more than just a few tops teams, which had been the case for years. We've all known that that others needed to get better, which would make the league better..............and hopefully..........our top teams will be viewed differently at the end of the season.
  18. Correct. The band is not holding up any game. And I almost always see the band director looking backwards for a sign that the refs have permission from TV to start play again. And anyone who is paying attention knows that the refs blow a whistle just before putting the ball in play.
  19. Here's what I think I am seeing this year. It seems to be a very "reactionary" crowd rather than a "proactive" crowd. They'll stand up and applaud a dunk, or a big 3-point shot, or a nice scoring run that results in an opponents timeout. But in between, there's no activity. No shouts of encouragement to the team. Just silence. At times last night, I felt like most everyone was taking a nap and figured that they'd wake up when something big happened again. I even felt like some of the student-generated "D-Fense" or "Lets Go Zips" chants that would sometimes echo throughout the games in years past have now become very few and far between.
  20. What are you talking about? He got playing time last night. He was put into the game with .1 seconds left before halftime to try to get a tip-in near the basket.
  21. Well, at this point, if anyone was going to be tied with us in the East, I am glad it's Bowling Green......since we've already beaten them TWICE.
  22. The only thing that really stuck out at me tonight was that this seemed like the Ken+ teams of several years ago with their ability to rebound. They got to a lot of balls tonight by either out jumping us, or flat-out beating us to the ball. I'm surprised the rebound margin (8) wasn't a lot larger. They are very athletic in the paint, much like the teams they had during some of their title runs. I guess that explains why they are back in serious contention again this year. If they had only hit a few free throws, this may have been a closer game. In the March game in Ken+, we have to do a much, much better job using our bulk to clear those guys away from the boards.
  23. It is funny. It's actually been played the last few homes games, and it seemed like it appeared again right after someone posted it in that Team Ohio thread.
  24. I'll reserve my final judgment about Toledo until we play them at home next week. But if Buffalo is really the best team in the MAC, and we just beat them, that would make me feel really good about our chances in March.
  25. Actually, you could question whether a "MAC east division winner" does anything to anyone outside of those who are already at least casual fans.
