  1. I'm sure the ABJ "staff reporter" will be watching his performance closely. Gosh, I can't believe there's only 9 posts on the afternoon of an OU game, nationally televised, on Senior Night.
  2. So, I should have a more favorable opinion of their chances at a title run, just because a Yahoo sportswriter feels that they do? Again, I will pull for them, big time. I like what they represent. But, as I stated, if I were a #13 MAC team, I'd love that matchup!
  3. I've also thought about this over the last week or so. There could be a real benefit to playing on Mon. and Wed. in the MAC Tourney. 1) More chances to get to 20+ wins. 2) More postseason experience for the youngsters. I hate to be talking about a nearly impossible road to a Saturday title game, but those are the cards we've been dealt.
  4. At least they are all off the bandwagon for now because the basketball team has fallen way out of the rankings. Living free from the Honks for 6 months is a good thing !
  5. We figured it out ourselves, and truly WANTED to go to a Zips Basketball game. So here we are decades later, and students don't want to come. Why? Good, we can figure out how to offer them money in exchange for their attendance. But that doesn't solve the problem, as I've pointed out before.
  6. Unbelievable. I can't image what it would take to organize that. It's not like Maryland is the best football and basketball program in the country. And Akron isn't either. But, I get a clear indication that their students love being there, care about showing pride and want to have some fun. Good for them. I'm jealous.
  7. Way to go Dave Come to think of it, I need to get me a TeamOhio tattoo. Maybe I should ask an OSWho football player where I can go to get that
  8. It might be hard to argue with that. We were able to beat the best team in the league with Reggie scoring 31 in an 82 point offensive effort. By contrast, in a low 52 point effort in the home loss to Miami, we got 2 total points from Reggie/Jake.
  9. I think you're exactly right.
  10. I'm pretty shocked that I've now seen several people who think it's no big deal to take this team to Cleveland with the task of having to win on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday........after playing a home game on Monday.........and playing against some very well rested teams. I wish I felt the same way. I need to find some of the stuff that you guys are consuming.
  11. Thanks for the info. I knew that the road to a 4th seed got very remote if it included a loss @ Buffalo.
  12. LIKE our chances?? We just lost 4 straight. I can't even fathom the chance of this team winning 5 games in 6 days in a couple of weeks. Right now, I'd just be happy to see ONE win. Any win. Lets start there.
  13. I thought it was interesting in the post game radio interview that Keith said something about how we've always had a guy we can rely on in the clutch, and we don't have that now. I'm a little puzzled. I feel like his teams over the years have lacked that guy on many occasions.
  14. How about losing a game in which our opponent only shoots 33% and only makes 3 of 13 from long range? I'm thinking Akron teams win 9 out of every 10 games like that.
  15. And total Free Throws Buffalo 32 Akron 10
  16. Stat of the Game: Reggie and Jake - combined = ZERO points. This continues to be my biggest disappointment this season.
  17. That's about all that needs to be said about this one. The score was just what we wanted, the effort was there, the execution was not.
  18. I like the looks of a game that will end up in the 60s. We're leading at the half with ONE three-pointer in the entire half.
  19. How bout Nyles playing the point Dave? Did you go to that meeting with Keith without me?
  20. ATTACKING the basket from all positions. WOW. We'll see how that strategy works as the game goes on. 1981 Grad....did you have a hunch or something?
  21. I remember a game down in Oxford a few years back. Maybe 2008. We hadn't won there in years, and I believe we were playing shorthanded. I think possibly J. Wood was out. Some other guys stepped up big-time and won our first game there in about a decade. It was a critical road win in late Feb. I've thought about that game as I've thought about tonight. Lets make that kind of magic tonight again.
  22. Hope I'm wrong. I want them to make a run.
  23. I know who they are. Maybe you're giving them to much credit? I just don't think they are very good, and I tend to pull mightily for the non-power conference teams. I'd love to get a matchup like that if I were a #13 coming out of the MAC. Their lack of experience on a bigger stage is also added advantage to being their opponent.
  24. I'll say this... When I look at all of our previous high-seeded NCAA Tournament opponents, I see Michigan, Gonzaga, Notre Dame and VCU. Then I see a "projection" that says that Toledo could get Northern Iowa? Makes me want to cry.
  25. I remember looking this up recently. Romeo was right around that 15 point mark his Senior year when he was MAC MVP, and that makes him the highest per game average scorer in the KD era. I'd say that's pretty low when you look at all of the players over 10 years. But Captain is right. You can still have a guy who can create a shot when the game is on the line, even if he's not a monster scorer by the numbers. For example, the guy that Miami used down the stretch to seal the game against us on Saturday is only a 14 ppg guy.
