  1. This is the only thing that brings me to some of their games, Otherwise, I would never watch ladies basketball.
  2. Umm. NHL and NBA venues are much, much smaller than football venues. So, even all of the sellouts are limited to the amount of attendance per game they can report.
  3. No doubt. I certainly wasn't reacting to the story, just my overall thought about the situation.
  4. If this is true, I think it brings the lameness of today's Akron students into proper perspective. And people are debating Saturday morning games vs. Weekday evening games? When we have 30k students and are just trying to get maybe 500 to 1,000 to attend a FREE Division I basketball game? Ridiculous.
  5. Have you ever heard of the University of Cincinnati?
  6. When did we ever remove the word "College" from College Athletics. The donors funneling tons of money into the notorious big-name schools is the culprit. It's time for everyone to take a step backwards. It's out of control.
  7. He probably isn't allowed to go anywhere, even out of the area for a day (without permission), if he's on probation.
  8. That's my point. As I said, it's been quite a few years. Anyone can speculate as to what he's thinking, but I fear that he might be telling us that his trust in our bench beyond a few guys might be back at 2007 levels again.
  9. It's this simple for me.... There would be a handful of Universities that matter to most sports fans. The rest of them will not matter. I want to be among the ones that matter. I was here when we worked hard to gain D-1 status, and later, D-1A status for football. Any move backwards at this point would suck. We've invested way too much.
  10. The much bigger question is "Why THIS team". He's had plenty of opportunities in the past to diminish the play of his bench, and put his best players on the floor for the majority of the game. I like that he's made such a bold move to improve performance, but my longer term concern is that that he might be seeing his #7 or #8 guy and beyond to be limited in their ability to contribute. And that has not been the case for quite a few years.
  11. Dave, I think this was the first times I have ever heard Keith talk specifically in his postgame interview about leaving certain guys in a game longer because they were playing well. Could he be softening his perceived policy of running regular rotations? Is he just finding that this particular team plays better this way, and it's only a change for this particular situation?
  12. That's right. After the first basket. If I recall, it was just a warning back then. No penalty. Huggins would applaud us.
  13. Hey Guys, Keith just said he wants to see the toilet paper flying at Rhodes Arena. He says he'll take the Technical. Any students want to volunteer to make it happen? Back in the mid-80s we had started doing this at Rhodes. It was actually a tradition at CMU.
  14. To the average fan, things always look like they are working so well, when you have a guy burying 3's from the corner, like Jake was on Wednesday.
  15. LOL. If he continues to get 8 assists and 1 turnover per game, he'd probably break national records. He just needs to play smart, relaxed and patient. With a seemingly poor opponent tonight, it will be our chance to see if he might be able to put together a string of good performances. We need him, and I felt that he would eventually work his way back into some beneficial playing time.
  16. I'm sure teams still like to proclaim themselves as MAC East or MAC West champs. One example is our girls team last year. Without that, they would not have had any "championship" to claim for their efforts, since they lost the MAC tourney. Other than that, I can't think of any benefit.
  17. I was responding specifically to the statement that we had our best shooters in the game because they were playing a zone. And I was saying that with Betancourt in there, and no Reggie, that obviously wasn't the case. I remember hearing Frenchy saying something like that. I thought he fumbled with his hometown, but I guess it was his name. I did hear the statement about Nyles also.
  18. They play a matchup zone. Close enough.
  19. But, that wouldn't explain Reggie's diminished role tonight. And Nyles would have played more than Carmelo if that was the case. And Big Dog playing more than Pat? This was a major shakeup, to say the least. It didn't end with just a different starting lineup.
  20. Funny. Frenchy said something in the pregame about discussion the last few days about how we play with a lead. I've seen plenty of lazy play with this team with a lead, and tonight was no different. Good thing we hammered them in the first half. Does it seem to make sense to everyone else that starting Kretzer is a better way to find out if he is going to be "on" or "off" on a particular night? He might be good for a couple of extra wins this year if he gets on a streak like that again as a starter. Based on playing time tonight, does it appear as if Pat and Deji might be the victims of the lineup changes?
  21. I've said it many times....I love the Tree/Harney/Kretzer front line. That's how we have to play if Pat isn't going to get the job done. Diggs starting too? Must be a big shakeup from Keith after the Toledo disaster.
  22. I see your Sheet. Actually, there is one way to definitively get the answer. For example, it shows that we were beaten by #11 RPI Iowa State (one of our two Top-50 RPI losses). Is that their RPI NOW, or their RPI when they beat us? By looking at a couple of the other teams vs. Akron, it seems to show their current RPI. So, it looks like this continues to update during the course of the season, and doesn't stick to the team's ranking at the time the game was played.
  23. Well, that should be a clear indication that HE wants to come back. I don't know guys. I just think there's way too many negatives in allowing him to come back.
  24. Hmm. Playing a high SOS OOC has given them a #44 RPI, some attention and respect, and has better prepared them to start their best run to begin MAC play in years? What a concept. Dave, I understand that a road win against a Top-50 RPI team can catapult your own present ranking, but when it comes to tournament seeding at the end of the year, the only thing that will matter is if EMU has a Top-50 RPI at the end of the season, and not now. Correct? On another note: Does anyone else find this to be extremely odd? Not only do we play EMU (a non-division team) twice, but the two games are only a couple of weeks apart??
