  1. here is the exact article that i read about it....Vincent Hill, a top wide receiver prospect who committed to Akron in the summer, is wavering in his verbal commitment. After a terrific senior season with 1,500 yards and 22 touchdowns, he gained some offers, namely Virginia. He says his decision will come down to Akron and UVa. He will visit campus on Jan. 19, then travel to Charlottesville, Va. the week after. Keeping Hill would be a huge boost to this recruiting class. A month ago, Hill was leaning toward Virginia. Because he could play as a true freshman, and here is an article i read on rivals.com about himFort Washington (Md.) Friendly wide receiver Vincent Hill (5-foot-10, 174 pounds, 4.4 seconds) is one the top players in the D.C./Metro area. Hill put up some eye-popping numbers and helped his team to an undefeated season. Virginia, which offered Hill shortly before he committed to Akron, started turning up the heat on him in November when Hill reopened his recruitment.first article it said he is leaning towards virginia because he could play as a true freshman. what article did you read about him, id like to read it also.
  2. if the girls that they have no stay together, IMO they will be one of the best teams in the mac in 3 years. Can't state's team this year has been together for the last 4 years their coach said, an look how they played against akron. h said that they had no sence of teamwork when they all arrived as freshman, they were all out to get their stats. this was what the coach himself told me after the akron game. but he got them working together an look how things turne dout for them, i dont see any reason why the lady zips cant do the same.
  3. The lady zips have hit a slump losing 4 games in a row, after reeling off 6 straight wins during the month of December. The lady zips are alot better then their record indicates. i have personally been able to see 4 lady zip games this year and i feel that the talent is there to build a championship caliber team. they have size, speed and good ball skills. They need to spread the floor more and have freshman center Riana Miller post up, this will force other teams to slide inside to help out leaving some of the better outside shooters such as Jessie Crooks, Niki Mccoy and Sarah Tokodi open for the outside shots. In the game today senior Jessie Crooks hit 6 of 9 from 3 point land and ended the day with a career high 26 points and 7 rebounds while sophomore Niki Mccoy had 10 points and 6 rebounds. I have heard that there is a girl who transfered from illinois to akron, but i have not heard anything official yet, so if someone can give me word if this is true or not it would be good. akron is relatively young team and if all the girls stick together for the next 3 years i believe we could be raising a MAC championship banner for the lady zips.
  4. i talked to the kids HS coach ( akron buchtel) an he said the kid has a 2.9 gpa and is a great football player, but the best part about him is that he is an even better person.and just so u know in case u didnt see my other post. vince hill has went back on his verbal to akron. after a great senior year he got an offer from University of virginia. and he said he likes that school and that he has a chance to play as a true freshman. he will be makin visits to both schools in the coming weeks an then make his decision, but as of now he is no longer a verbal for akron.
  5. no he hasent signed with akron, but he is interested in them. yes he is a great back. id love to see him with the zips next year. JD could always work on the personal issues ( his attitude) if he got him. we need football players an this kid is one, lets get this kid signed.
  6. This guy is a monster. seen him play in the 2nd round of the state playoffs against an undefeated brunswick team and he smached them himself. he had a long ( around 90 yds) kickoff return for a touchdown, and a few other long runs that went for touchdowns ( had over 200 yds rushing). he would make a great back for akron.im happy with the recruits that we have already signed. i seen gary pride of colerain hs play in the state playoffs on tv. they had him running the option (he was the QB) an man can he fly. not the tallest guy, but neither was antoine winfield (now plays for the vikings). the OG that they signed Paul S may be able to help the offensive line right away, and we know the line is a spot that can use a lil help after losing 4 of the starting 5. I think the offensive line will be alright but it never hurts to add another good OL. if now we could just get a few more DL.On the offensive side of the ball i will be glad to finally see a QB behind center that is mobile an able to gain yards on a broken play ( both jackson and hakes are more mobile then Getsy). The offensive line will be alright as i stated above. The line will be very young (only kemme has started more then 1 game in his career), but alot of the guys got to see playing time in games because the score or due to injuries. The backfield is all back from last year. I am glad to see Alex Allen will be back because its always good to have a decent backup just in case of injury. The WR position will probably be the strength of the offense with both J.Long, J.Arthur and D.Harvey returning. i just hope that the WR have enough time to run their routes and the QB has the time to throw. On the defensivce side of the ball. i could see their recruit jake anderson stepping in and helping right away on the DL as well as the guy they got from miami(FL). The linebackers should be pretty solid this year with mackey, grant and williams all returning from last years squad. The defensive backs should be alright. i could see another recruit that they signed de'von (not sure of the last name, but he was ranked as the #60 CB in the country) coming in and helping right away.I am thinking that the special teams (kicking and punting) will be the weakest link of the whole team. I have never seen the kicker they signed last year (igor) kick because he was out last year with an injury i believe. Hopefully things change this year because special teams can win a game or lose a game, and i think that if it isnt fixed that we will be doing more losing due to special teams then winning.
  7. yea i understand but the kid has told me that if akron were to offer him they would be one of his top schools, because he would like to stay close to his mom and grandmother who is terminally ill because she goes to all of his games. i have seen alot of different hs players from this area an IMO he is the best special teams player and one of the best defensive backs ive seen.
  8. jd should start recruiting more kids from the akron, canton, cleveland area. i have a friend who plays for a local high school who is getting heavy interest from osu, penn state, minnesota, tennessee and he has yet to get an offer from Akron. As a kick returner he had over 500yds in returns and 4 td's last season and as a punt returner he had 11 td's (not sure of how many yards he had). he is also a very good defensive back. JD overlooks alot of kids from the NEO area who are very talented and end up going to out of state schools and tearing it up.
  9. if the university would uncover the 1500 seats that they have covered and allow people to sit where they want, they would get alot more people to come to the games. i was at every home game this year, and it kinda pi$$ed me off that towards the end of the season they were forcing people (who didnt buy a reserved ticket) to sit on the opposite side of the zips team. maybe they should start letting people sit where they want to sit, because the people of akron will definatly remember that when it comes time to build their new stadium.
  10. they should start some type of a program for not only the people who go to the university, but also the kids from the comunity. i know that my brother has been to every football game and has been to 7 basketball games ( both guys an girls) and at each of the games, it is the same people cheering for the team, u dont ever seen new people unless it is at one of the "big" games. i know he would ( along with alot of his friends) love to sit with the ak rowdies and cheer. have they talked about it or would they be appose to having younger people ( 16) sit an cheer with them? I know at a few of the games he was standing up and cheering and the people around him asked him if he could sit down. this is somthing they should think about doing. ( branching out to the people of the community an not just the university students)
  11. I have personally talked to t his kid a few times and he sadi he loves the university of akron and that there is only 1 thing he is waiting for in the next few weeks, to see if illinois offers. that is the only school that could stop him form signing at akron he said. he would be a great pickup because of his size and speed.
  12. I have talked toa few of the players from akron and they have all said that the rumor about nate leaving is NOT true. he said it jokingly and it was blown out of proportion. he will be back next year and look for him to do alot of great things for the zips.
  13. akron recruit vince hill has turned back on his verbal to the university of akron. after having a very nice senior season (around 1500 yds rec. and 22 td's) he earned an offer from the university of virginia. this is a huge blow to the university and its recruiting. hill recently stated that there is still a chance he will end up signing with akron, but he really likes the university of virginia because he has a very good chance to play as a true freshman... well lets look at the university of akron, with him being such a great athlete, there is no way that jd would be able to keep him off the field as a true freshman, he would play just as harvey did this year. he has said he will be visiting both akron and virginia in the coming weeks and that he will then make his decision. hopefully it is akron, we need more great athletes!
