UVA Recruit to Visit Akron?
timmyboy replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
has anyone heard anything new about this guy because i tried lookin him up and the only school listed for him is virginia. i hope we steal one of their recruits since they took one of ours (hill) -
i dont want to say his name, but he is from akron buchtel, the same school as another verbal that the zips got, bryan williams. hopefully he will want to follow with his teammate an join the zips
-
great pick up for the zips. i followed this guys HS career and have talked to him during his time at the prep school. great football player with very good size and speed. he is such an athlete he could play both offense and defense. but i will be glad to see him running for the zips. now lets get him an offensive line that will block.

I am writing on a past post that I made, reguarding a local football player from the akron area. This past saturday he got his official offer from Akron an has said he loves the school, the fact that it is in his hometown an that they have some of the best facilities in the country. this would be a GREAT pickup, so im going to keep in his ear an try to push him towards staying home. here are a few of his stats.Ht: 6-0 Wt: 180 40: 4.49 punt returns for TD's2 kick returns for TD's1 INT returned for TD2 pass receptions for TD'sHeres what the scouts say about him:a lockdown CB and a dangerous kick returner. Has scored 14 TD's in two years- two pass receptions, one INT, two kickoff returns, . As a junior, he was named first team All-City, All-County,

Marquinn Davis of Youngstown Rayen is a very well rounded football player, and im glad we got his verbal lol. here is a link to his highlight film. leave feednback an let me know what you think... next up, jafe pitcock, younger brother of all american DT from OHIO STATE, Quinn...... lets get this guy signed.i also have links to his highlight film if anyone is interested.http://www.markportermedia.com/Marquinn_Davis_Rayen.htm

no i wouldnt rather him throw into triple coverage. but what im sayng is that the speed difference between the college and pro's is tremendous. if he has trouble throwing the deep ball in college to a player who is covered, then imagine how it will be in the pros when the wr is almost never wide open on deep routes.
-
but if you have ever noticed. the deep balls he threw to harvey, arthur an long were when they were open and didnt really have much coverage on them. very rarely in the NFL will you see a WR get as open as they did in college when he was throwing them deep balls.

i agree zipsalum just tyring to stay optomistic bout the future lol. but i seriously think they can be a very special team if they stay together an continue to work hard.

lol nice one feartheroo

WHO HAS MADE A BIGGER IMPACT FOR THE PROGRAM.....
timmyboy replied to timmyboy's topic in Akron Zips Football
i agree. if a school from a larger bcs school came calling to jd, he would be gone before akron could even try to talk him into stayin. kd is a true akron man having lived in akron and coached in akron more then once in his career as a head coach. -
i didnt even need to listen to the game, because i knew the ZIPS were going to whip BG's @$$ lol. great game guys
-
good game zips. cant state is up next!
-
glad to see we have one true fan...where will all of the rowdies that are at all the mens game at? doesnt look like much of a dedicated student cheering group, maybe im wrong. i see the same 5 people at all the lady zip games, can we make some of the other people come to the games too?
-
Akron will lose even more next year after paying a big ten school ( Indiana) to come to Akron to play. If they want to get more people in the stadium, maybe for that game they should think bout lowering the prices of admission, im sure thatd get more people into the stands.
-
i seen somewhere that the budget is like 54 million for the new stadium when it is built. Does anyone know if any of the big name alumni ( jason taylor, charlie frye, chase blackburn, dwight smith, victor green) who have made it big in professional sports will be donating a little bit extra to help get this stadium done? Jason Taylor especially should donate a little more after he said last year (on national TV) how the stadium was miles from the school, and it was run down and falling apart. why not help make it a better place for the kids after him? if someone could give me insite on if any of the alumni are going to give extra.

yeah i didnt really care for the weekday games. does the university or whoever schedules these games not realise that people have work. lets stick with the saturday games, so that way we can get the attendance up....and let people sit on the home teams side!
-
they wouldnt even let you sit on the home side if the game wasent on TV. Do you think u should have to pay another 6$ per person to sit on the home teams side, when the benches are all the same hard uncomfortable ones on both sides?
-
hey everyone. lets hope the lady zips turn things around starting on tuesday when they play OU at home. i know i will be there cheering them on. Will anyone else be?
-
www.scoutingohio.com i go to this site all the time to check up on kids an see how they been doing. hopefully akron has offered a few of these kids and we can get them...also has anyone heard anything but the younger brother of quinn pitcock, jafe?he is a 6'3 260 lb d.end from piqua. last i seen he only had offers from mac schools, does anyone know if anyhing has changed?

WHO DO YOU FEEL HAS MADE A BIGGER IMPACT ON THE PROGRAMS SINCE JOINING... JD BROOKHART, OR KEITH DAMBROT??BOTH OF THEM HAVE VERY GOOD ARGUMENTS AS TO WHO MADE A BIGGER IMPACT.JD JOINED THE ZIPS AND HAS HAD 2 OF THE BEST RECRUITING CLASSES IN THE MAC, HE TOOK THEM TO THEIR FIRST EVER MAC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME ( AND WON IT), THEIR FIRST EVER BOWL GAME (SINCE JOINING D1) ALSO. BUT ON THE OTHER HAND, WHEN LEE OWENS LEFT AND BROOKHART CAME, THE ZIPS DID HAVE A WINNING RECORD.KEITH DAMBROT HAS BROUGHT A SENCE OF DISCIPLINE TO THE TEAM, AND HAS ALSO HAD SOME OF THE BEST RECRUITING CLASSES IN THE MAC. HE HAS PROVEN HE CAN BEAT Can't STATE AND HE HAS TAKEN THE ZIPS TO THEIR FIRST POSTSEASON TOURNEY IN A LONG TIME. WHEN DAMBROT CAME THE ZIPS WERENT VERY GOOD AT ALL, AND HE HAS CHANGED THE FACE FOR ZIPS BASKETBALL.SO NOW PEOPLE LETS HEAR WHO YOU THINK HAS MADE A BIGGER IMPACT....

nice job zips....... next up CANT STATE FLUSHES!LETS ALL BE THERE AN MAKE IT LOUDDDDD!

For all of you who werent able to see, Luke Getsy played in a "All Star" game yesterday. He did have a ncie TD pass and he also RAN (yes i said RAN) for a td. He also did alot of the same things that we have been used to seeing the last 2 season.... over throwing players, under throwing players, throwing into double coverage. Even thought the scouts said he had a good week of preperation for the game, one scout said what we all already know, He cant throw the deep ball, not very mobile, and makes bad decisions.next year is a different story.... we will have a mobile qb who can make plays....here is my prediction for next year, MAC champs or i hope so lol.

i see what your saying now, never really thought bout it like that. here is a possible solution. have the head of the rowdies send out a letter to local schools (elementary, middle, high schools) and see who would be interested in starting a group made of people from the community, and if they get enough reply's to the letter they could charge 10$ for them to join an have shirts made that say future rowdies or baby rowdies, and they could have all the younger rowdies sit in a certain section upstairs or even have one section behind the basket reserved for them and the one on the other end for the college students. this is just a suggestion because i personally know alot of the younger kids ( i coach youth football in the akron area) who would love to join a group such as the rowdies.
