Well, at least one good thing happened this weekend! Thank you Bears! Good smack.Actually, yesterday was not a complete loss. Went to Steve's in Tega Cay to watch the game. A benefit was going on for a local kid who needs a handicap van...long story, but the turnout was huge. $10 bucks to get in, southern rock and rockabilly bands all day, football and a kid gets a new van he needs. Sort of makes the Steelers one loss of the 4-5 they will have this year seem small.

Let me correct you. JD did not get stuck with these players. He actively recruited and gave them full scholarships. JD thought these young men would lead us to the promised land. JD was wrong!A lot of other people would have been wrong as well. Jacq was recruited by a lot of schools. Should those coaches at those schools that didn't sign him because he didn't want to go to their school get fired as well.JD should be fired at the end of the year if he doesn't win at least seven, but not because Jacq got kicked off of the team. He should be fired because there is enough talent on the team to win and they are not. It is really that simple.

I'm sure they will after comparing parking maps to actual parking lots. Please be patient.

I have no idea what Jac actually did to get the boot, but its not exactly a secret that he's always been a guy who likes to blaze it up, and I'm not talking about with his arm on the football field. I wouldn't be surprised if that played a role, directly or indirectly. Any guy who is given a leadership role on a D-1 college football team and continues in a habit like that is a worthless POS in my opinion.If he did go out in this manner, it isn't like going out guns-a-blazing now is it? A lot of college kids smoke pot, but there is a time and a place for everything. Now was certainly not the time.

This is actually a really good topic the more I think about it. The only thing we really know about the Zips IMHO is:1. They can lose to a high level BCS team in PSU.2. They can beat a I-AA team.3. The can lose to a BCS team that could possibly make a bowl. I don't think the Zips win yesterday even with Jacq.That's all we really know and it isn't much. I don't think the first three weeks of the season should be a surprise to anyone. I picked the Zips to be 1-3 after four. We are going to learn a lot more this week and I don't think we are going to like what we find out.

There is going to be chaos regardless of when a coach is fired.I don't think it is unreasonable to tell everyone there are higher expectations through termination. Businesses do it all the time. IF JD is let go, the program will need a cultural change more than a player change. The players have enough talent to do well in the MAC. Right now, we have no idea of how this team will do in the MAC.

If you followed this board closely over the past 3-4 years, I was the first to say the defensive scheme stinks. I was the first one to be critical of Brookhart in a meaningful way. Not only does it stink, it makes the offensive soft. The 3-3-5 is a soft defense. Our offense practices against them in the spring and fall making them soft. The main point is that while Brookhart is largely to blame, we need to start asking why the players can't grab their balls in a big game and do something. The players need to start earning their scholarships. The taxpayers of Ohio are shelling out a ton of money for them to go to school and they need to start earning it.

Excellent post. The problem the MAC has right now is it isn't a very good league and until it can improve itself, it looks bad on TV. The more people see it, the more they realize they may not want to spend their hard earned money on it. The MAC needs to stay off of TV for the time being.

I have a better idea. Instead of trying to make everyone happy, keep one RB in the game as much as possible. Let that player get into a rythm and ride the horse until he is exhausted or hurt. I'm not surprised. Summit and Stark county sports fans were treated to free tickets from UofA for years and they expect it. Those that don't expect it aren't the type of people that shop at Dollar General.Years ago, we playerd Va Tech at the RB and only 18,000 showed. We are what we are. I'm not so concerned about the crowd as I am the product on the field. Nobody is going to pay their hard earned money to watch a qb throw 4 ints and poor tackling.Actually, on TV the stadium looked like it had more than 18,000 if you counted all of the people sitting on the hill. If you put them into the stands, it might have been full. I wasn't there though.

I don't know if I have better eyes, but I do know I'm a better football observer than you idiots. Not only were they bigger, they were in better shape. It doesn't take huge differences, but small differences are what matters. The Zips size should be OK when MAC play starts.Let's make it clear that the Great GP1 was the first to call the 3-3-5 a gimmick around three years ago, maybe more. The reasoning is far more than what you guys can comprehend so you should just take my word for it.I'd also like to see a comparison of height and weight for all of the positions. If you could get on that right away, I would like to see something by 2:00 today. Don't bother with the Browns game, they suck.Good observation about the DBs playing too far off. The Zips were able to get some pressure on Chappell. What you missed though was how inaccurate Chappell was. A little pressure and inaccuracy can spell INT if the DBs aren't playing in the third row of the stadium. I really didn't see Chappell as a deep threat. Hell, he didn't need to be a deep threat because they were given the ball in great field position most of the time.

My original post is not a defense of JD. He has had good enough talent over the past few years to have won more games than he has. Whether it is Faust, Owens or JD, the losing continues. At what point are the players to blame? The opening kickoff was run back because a Zip squarely hit the IU player and the kid broke the tackle and ran for a TD....I blame the player in that case.Like I said before, JD has nine games to win six more. Six years is enough. Five was too few and seven will be too many if he doesn't win 7. I have no emotion about JD at all. Either he gets it done or he doesn't.
