Didn't your parents ever tell you to watch what you put in your mouth?

Thanks UAZip0510. To the point, the answer is "no". The point of Zip Watcher's post was to not just blast me, but send a point out to anyone who might disagree with him and his line of thinking.I did not read his post that way at all.how did you read it? what would cause such a severe response to a pretty harmless post? keep in mind, zw is a moderator.

I would encourage you to go read many of my posts this year on how proud I was of the team and the great future they have in front of them with Zeke and many of the other good players they have on the team.

Let freedom ring!!!!!!

They are going to get a "learning experience" all right......

It's one thing to take a bag to a game (I really don't blame anyone), but punching holes in it will only allow the vomit to pour out. There should be signs around The Big Telephone Booth saying: "Keep InfoCision clean. Don't punch holes in your barf bag."

By the case? I guess we all have our secrets......If you are a fan of Zips athletics and you don't own a case of lube, then then the Lord blessed you with either a very loose, or very wide orifice.I must assume that when a strong wind blows past the Great GP1's posterior, a sound similar to that found in a jug band is produced. With all the losing I've watched, it's more like a foghorn.

The PM feature is lame. I think the overreaction to a very mild post about the game yesterday was odd and filled with a lot of pent up anger. I have been more than supportive of the BB team this year and I think they can do much better than what they did yesterday. They have a lot of talented players and should do better than what they did yesterday. I think KD is in agreement.I will continue to call them as I see them, not as others think they should be seen. I hope that ZW's response to my post does not make any other posters hesitant to express their views on this board even if they may be different than the mainstream.Go Zips!At this point it seems entirely clear that the beef is between you and ZW and has nothing to do with the rest of us or the Zips in general. It see no need for it to be aired out publicly on this forum. With the exception of being called a Browns Fan, I have no beef.

Mine is an observation as well. You are a douchebag. Nice response.

This isn't last year's team and last year is now officially on the shelf. This is 2009/2010 with a team that experienced winning last year and understands how to win now. I expect more out of this team than the usualy "building process". The real BS is reverting back to losing to teams we should not lose to and excuse it away as part of a "building process".No team has run the table since the 1976 Hoosiers. So every team the last 33 years loses games now and then. No one is excusing it away, it's a bad loss .. but some folks, like the Great GP1 are making it out to be more that it is.The Great GP1 in the past few weeks has exposed himself to be nothing more than a contrarian and a prejudiced one at that (see the Amish thread and others where he's the first to drift into off-color sweeping generalizations). And lately, he's also clearly established his agenda at Zips Nation .. the contrarian pot-stirrer. Take the opposite opinion of the majority and make it suit your need with self congratulatory keyboard diarrhea .. mix in some elitist drivel implying or in your case outright stating that anyone who doesn't agree is just too dense to really understand. Congratulations, you have a web persona .. good for you.Which is it, GP1 .. do you want to root for teams that are perennial losers like your beloved Demon Deacons, or teams that (apparently unlike WF) play every game in the season .. win some, lose some & try to move forward with lessons from both that lead to growth as a team and improved performances? You probably already know that Browns Fan would never know what to do if he wasn't calling some drive time sports hack in September demanding the ouster of a coach who's been on the job for 6 months and 3 games. This is the same Browns Fan who'll be calling the hack back on Tuesday morning if a miracle occurs tonight, singing the praises of the new coach and dreaming of 8-8 seasons in the future with the guy he currently thinks is the worst coach since Bill Belicheck. Well, I'm here to tell you that in the Zips Nation, you are Browns Fan. In football, you find a way to take a single D1 FBS victory over a mediocre to bad opponent and turn it into some optimism .. nay CONFIDENCE .. about the future of the club. But in hoops, you're here to tell us that losing a game in November is reason for alarm and that you don't want to see a team improve over the course of the year or think that they can. What the Great GP1 and Browns Fan (redundant I know) lacks is the patience or interest to observe the process that a full season is. My recommendation to you is to just buy a paper or check the scores online in mid-March and save yourself from the season, because clearly you're not really interested in the team or the season. You only care about what it says at the end, and how you can spin it to make yourself feel better and smarter. You could just save the rest of us the trouble and check in when the season's over. The unfortunate part of the Great GP1 and his two-faced agenda is that he does have a way with words and his metaphors are entertaining. It's commonplace to laugh out loud at one of his posts. It used to be for his humorous observations and creative writing skill. Lately however, it's more like laughing at the poster as he struggles to keep his stories straight and disagree with everyone, painting himself in one post as a protector of minorities and exposing himself in another as a prejudiced generalizer. Truly unfortunate, but humorous. B) Go Zips!Wow, personal attacks after the first loss. Everyone else should take note that if you dare to lay any criticism on this team, this is how you will be treated.I will stop asking more out of the defending MAC Champions. It is now OK to lose to AP.You are a real douche ZW. I always thought more of you as a poster.

Not really. The history of Wake football is they are usually between laughing stock and average with some good years thown in now and then that keeps their strange, Ivy League type alumni coming back for wine and cheese before games on sunny North Carolina fall afternoons. The expectation for winning are low because football is really not a priority. There is almost no difference in the post game tailgating after a win or loss. It's different.....nobody gets to happy when they win or too low when they lose. The past four years have really been atypical of the program.Teams don't learn to win by losing. The learn to win when they win.

This just isn't funny or original. Just because you know how to use photoshop doesn't mean you should use it. Better luck next time.

I know some don't like when I post about Wake Forest, but there are interesting parallels between Akron and Wake at times. A lot of you would like the vibe of a Wake football or basketball game. I hope this game doesn't become a parallel.Wake has an older guy named Bill Urbanik who does their color for football radio. Some of you may be old enough to remember that Urbanik was a defensive lineman for the 1968 tOSU team that won the national championship. I wasn't born yet. Anyhow, he doesn't speak very well, but he always makes good points that cut to the chase of success or failure. One of the points he made this season about why Wake was losing close games late in the year is that they lost close games early in the year. If a team doesn't execute and win close games early, they will never learn how to win late in the season. The Zips need to win games like this early in the year so they don't fall into the trend of losing them. I don't expect Akron to win games against good ACC, Big East, Big 12, etc. teams, but I absolutely expect them to win a game at HOME against a team like AP. It's nothing against AP, they deserved the win. Akron is too good of a team to lose games like this. Expectations are too high and the players are too good to lose a game like this.

I agree. I love the direction our BB team is going. We have a lot to be excited about. It's sad when we have 20,000 or so fans going to the embarrassing football games but we can't get 5,500 to go see a great BB team play. Don't get me wrong i go to the football games, but the basketball program definately deserves more funding and fan recognition. go zips.Anyone???????????

The two best talent teams in the MAC right now are Temple and CMU. CMU will lose their QB next yera and be back to being average. Temple will continue to be good. Our problem is we are once again, a good team in the MAC in the same division as the best team in the MAC....Just like we were with Marshall a few years ago. With that said, we can still be good enough next year to make a bowl.

Thank you for your post. I've been to the campus and I stand by what I said. I've been to Philadelphia and the place should be pushed into the Delaware River. The only good thing about Philadelphia is you can easily fly there and quickly drive to Atlantic City. I don't disagree we have too many guys who are satisfied with losing....it is the history of our program. We have a QB named Nicely....I want a bunch of players named Angry. That, along with a lot of other reasons is why you guys are better and will be for a long time.Congratulations on your win.
-
Good post. Especially the part about the MAC albatross.Calling what Temple has a "campus" is being generous. I've been there. It's just sort of a part of the city that bridges two slums.Could it be that Temple is winning because they are recruiting EXACTLY the type of player that is not afraid to go out at night around their campus? We're busy recruiting "players we can all be proud of"....we all know what that means. If I could ask one question in the interview process for the next coach, I would ask: "I believe there is a lot of talent on this team and they have underperformed. Do you agree there is currently enough talent to win in the MAC?" If he goes on about a "building process" don't hire him.

All good questions. Here are the answers.Money on facilities and poor results? Well, when people at the University believe building buildings is the only thing you need to be successful, you get disappointed in the results. Building things is not enough. I just hope the new AD doesn't whore out the football program like Miami's AD does to support the remainder of the athletic department. If that happens, we will have one 4-8 or 3-9 season after another.Wasted investment in football? Not really. They needed a new stadium anyhow.White elephant? Yes and no. I don't think MAC sports will ever pay for themselves. All the school will do is get the money from the state to support the stadium. The school needs to stop building high end arena for sports NOW. One more for soccer and that is enough until they prove they can support them.My big question is this. Is the University REALLY willing to get a little dirty to win football games? Another question would be....What are the fans willing to do to win? Are the fans willing to get a little dirty as well?money talks and bullsh*t walks. this athletic program is headed on a rocket sled for financial disaster. look for dirt all over the place very soon.I hope you are wrong, but you may very well be right. The University is full of public employees. It's obvious from our nation's current financial state our public employees have no understanding of financial responsibility. Why would UofA be any different? They need to stop building now until they have a clear plan for how they are going to pay for it.

Football is a dynamic, ever-changing game where offensive and defensive adjustments must be made throughout the game. Nicely and the rest of the Zips offense looked OK until the Temple defense adjusted and shut them down. The Zips offense never adjusted to the adjusted Temple defense. The Temple secondary began covering the Zips receivers very tightly. Nicely looked from receiver to receiver to receiver and found none open. By that time the rush was on him and he was forced to throw out of bounds, which is smart and not a freshman mistake. Forcing the ball in to well-covered receivers would have been a freshman mistake. The Zips team was overwhelmed by a much better team. Nicely cannot be expected to do it by himself.I agree that he can't do it by himself, but it all starts with him. He has the ball in his hands every play. What he can do is not throw the ball directly to the other team's player. What he can do is throw the ball in bounds so our guy has at least a chance to catch it.Let's not make too many excuses for poor performance because the kid is a freshman. He has a full scholarship to a college and if he gets in the game he needs to earn that scholarship. He will be good, but Friday he left a lot to be desired.
-
I agree and disagree. Nicely did look like a freshman in that his accuracy is was poor last night. How many times did he throw the ball out of bounds? No catch can be made on a ball out of bounds. He threw the ball directly to one of their players....that isn't intelligent and he learned better in JR High. He was terrible after the first drive.Nicely needs to play better and I'll leave it at that.

I can explain this one. With only three dlinemen, the offense can double team at the point of attack knocking our dline back into the lbs. Think of the dline as the offensive line for the linebackers. They get in the way so the lbs can make most of the plays on running downs. If the oline is pushed back into the backfield, the rb can't run because the line is at his feet. If the dline is pushed back, they get in the feet of the lbs and the lbs look slow.DBs are designed to cover foremost and tackle second. We put too many on the field and hope they can tackle. DBs are little and they struggle to tackle medium sized players such as running backs. Over the course of a game and year, they get worn down and it becomes difficult for them to either tackle or cover.A new defensive scheme will improve this team.
