Mens BB Trainer Ray Eady

Good luck to Ray and his family on their recent move to Wisconsin. Ray has accepted a similar position with the Badgers BB team. I had the pleasure of coaching Rays son Tyree in the last few years and you couldn't meet a nicer family. The Zips will have to look hard to find a replacement to match up to Rays expertise.

They sure will. I have heard that he is one of the best strength and conditioning coaches around. I sure do hope the best for him. Another person leaving the program that KD hasn't had good relations with. Numbers keep going up in that department.

Its no secret that players dont like playing for him and that he has gone through 3 trainers and now another strength coach. This all coming from one of his assistants.

Now I do not normally run strings of posts together. However, this one seems to need being restated here in order to keep continuity.Crafty, I am with you. When some one makes an accusation they should back it up with facts.Right now we have a poster, in this case, hoopla, claiming that coach Dambrot is not liked by his players or persons associated with the program. That sounds pretty serious to me.Since I know most of the players and all of the coaching staff assistant coaches I have to say that I have never heard anyone complain about Coach Dambrot. The former players "dislike" coach so much that they keep returning to the office to visit. A number of them are finishing up their degrees and using the facilities provided for that purpose. Again, I have never heard a player or coach make a negative comment about KD or the program. If anyone is disgruntled, then it is a secret to me.Now, I do not know most of the strength staff or some of the other facilitators. I did not know Ray Eady. I do know that the best results regarding weight training of the basketball players is due to the efforts of one of the assistant coaches and NOT Ray Eady. I can name the coach if it ever becomes relevant.Ray Eady, a nice guy, left for a better opportunity (i.e. more money). Wisconsin pays more than Akron. The best of luck to him. Most MAC schools are a stepping stone for coaches in their career. It is a symbiotic relationship that pays the MAC school in the future as former coaches rise in their field. As far as I know, Ray Eady did not burn any bridges behind him as he left. Are you burning bridges for him? Does he know that you are making claims that impune him? Or, do you just not like coach for some dark, distorted, personal reason?Turn over of coaching staff is normal. Shaka Smart was an assistant at Akron. Shaka who is a friendof mine is now the number one assistant at Florida under Billy Donovan. Shaka left the number one assistant position at Akron for the number one position at Clemson. Shaka left Clemson for Florida.Does that prove that Shaka was disgruntled at Akron and at Clemson? Or is he a young coach furthering his career?Other assistant coaches under Dambrot will over time move on to other schools and improve their career. That is not a negative against KD. It is a positive.Honestly, I can not think of anyone directly associated with KD (those who work in the basketball office) that dislikes him or disses him. hoopla, you must be privy to something that no one else knows a damned thing about. Will everything be Pollyanna buttery? Not on your life.

Kids will always grouse about playing time, coaches & trainers will always leave if there's an opportunity for career advancement and there will always be family-type disagreements that erupt when you combine the testosterone and competitive drive of 20 athletes+coaches into close quarters for months at a time. It is no more complex than that. It's the same in the work place, its the same with any family. It was interesting to attend the post season banquet for the first time a few months ago and heartening to see the genuine love the guys had for the program and their time at UA. I think all 5 seniors have graduated, or will graduate very soon. Ced has returned as a grad assistant. That's all pretty awesome.I'm actually a little disappointed in myself for extending this thread by commenting on the topic, but it seemed to merit a response.

So what are you saying then? Ray, as the strengh and conditioning coach (and good enough to be hired by Wisconsin. Which they obviously do extensive research on these positions at the Big 10 level), didnt finish working out with the team throughout the season? And an assistant coach took over? And you are saying that there isnt bad blood? Ha. No wonder most of our guys were playing on one leg the last half of the season. Maybe that coach should be replaced then. Im just saying from my meaningful conversations from people that are involved with this conversation and some pretty obvious facts like the one that was provided in a previous post, that there is bad blood. Now its nice of you to try to sit there and protect 'your guy', but come on. Facts are facts!
