Syracuse Report

That was stinkin' funny, I only wondered why he gave credit to the Syracuse running backs for playing well instead of noting that they were only playing against the AKRON ZIPS (if that is indeed who Syracuse played on Saturday - I couldn't really tell from the report :). I'm rooting for Syracuse in every game they have left. By the way, the answer to the Captain's rhetorical question - 11 (in a 3 minute presentation).

Believe me I don't miss out on the humor of it but it is media types like the guy doing that report that infuriate me. He keeps throwing our name out there like we are something to be ashamed of. It must be absolutely terrible to lose to Akron. Why do people always seem to feel that the Zips are vastly inferior? Is it simply because of our conference affiliation? Isn't this the same Akron team that trailed by 7 points at halftime to Wisconsin? Isn't it the same program that trailed Ohio State by 1 at halftime last season? The one that trailed Penn State by only 9 after 3 quarters a couple years back (if i remember correctly)? I know we beat NC State in 2006, so why in the world wouldn't Syracuse expect a good game out of Akron? When are people going to realize that playing a MAC school is not like playing most schools from the FCS (or 1-AA)? I think Ohio State may now know the difference (after comparing week 1 and 2 both this season and last) but why don't the national "experts" know?

Wonder what he would have said last year if we had slipped by UMass in the NIT and then dumped them at home like UMass did. Look at the rest of the Big East. Does Rutgers, UConn, Pitt, and UC (especially with their QB out) strike fear into anyone? If we had any of those 4 at home this week, I wonder if the Ball State spread would be greater than those teams.

  • 2 weeks later...

"When it happens, it doesn't gradually happen," Robinson said of success. "It explodes. We're all battling our ass off. I'm really excited about it." If things ever get that bad, I hope that I don't hear that kind of comment from JD. This takes me back to when Lee was predicting victory over Iowa before the 35-0 1st quarter.
