Captain Kangaroo Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 Annual Win vs. Arch Rival Secured for the Foreseable FutureI like how the blame for the UA loss is placed on his kicker. It would be heartening to see a quote from the K.e.n.t. kicker, something like:"Look, I'm tired of this douche blaming his losses on the players. Players come and players go. The one thing consistent over the past several seasons is Doug Martin. And, sub-.500 records. Hell, sub .300! Take away wins against Delaware State every year and who do we beat? No one. Who recruits these clowns on my team that fumble punts in the final 2-minutes of a game? It ain't the kicker, I'll tell you that!Who had 1 minute to go in the 1st half of the Akron game, had 3 time outs, and sat on the freaking ball allowing the clock to run out. Take Julian Edelman off this team and we don't win a single game. I don't care who reads this...I'll take it to the coach's office and pin it on his damn door myself. We're the freaking Washington Generals of the MAC." Quote
MDZip Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 Quote from the article "Kennedy's support for a team that hasn't been a consistent winner since the 1970s is just as solid. He has brought in former Can't State coaches to give opinions on ways to make improvements and has implemented many of their recommendations".So they are getting advice from all of the coaches who couldn't win over the last 30 years - well, there's your problem, right there! Z-Pouch Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 It's great to see that Kennedy acknowledges the best coach we've ever had on our side. Here's hoping that he gives Doug Martin a well deserved lifetime contract. Sincerely and Thankfully,The Zipsnation Doug Martin fan clubWith regard to blaming the kicker, Martin should take a lesson from the Okl State coach and stick up a little bit for his players and take responsibility for other bad decisions made during the game. Real nice, bringing that back up and not letting it die after weeks. Quote
Sergeant Zip Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 Doug will never be able to recruit blaming the players for his losses. Who wants to play for a coach who will single them out to the media like that? What happened to winning and lossing as a team? If Alabama lost yesterday in overtime, would Saban have said we would have won if it wasn't for an idiot kicker. Thanks for making it easier for UofA to recruit Mr. Moron er Martin. Quote
RootforRoo44 Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 It's funny how he blames Nate Reed. I personally know Nate, and I saw him kick for years in highschool and know that he is a tremendous talent doing so. But everyone misses an easy one at one point, just for him it came at a crucial point in a rivalry game. I guess i felt a little bad for him at first, but then i remembered that he was a traitor and went to cant state. That made me feel a lot better. Quote
johnnyzip84 Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 I find it odd that Kennedy is showing this much patience with Martin. IMO, and certainly not that I really care about Can't St (just being honest), he should have displayed the same patience with Jim Corrigall when he was fired in 1993. Even though the flushes records were bad, they were clearly improving (IMO) at that time. But, hey, I'm not complaining and there's no getting around the fact that Quote
zippyrifle32 Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 A true fan of all Can't State sports, Kennedy typically attends two or three football practices a week. He sees first-hand how the players listen intently to instruction and work hard. The intense preparation by the coaching staff and players was evident.Sorry... it's not about being a fan. Let me translate: Martin's job in in question, so the AD goes as far as watching 2 or 3 practices a week to check up on him to see if he's doing his job right. It's always a bad sign if the AD is looking over your shoulder that much. Quote
zipboy Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 Conract runs through 2010. Will they show enough confidence to give him a 1 yr extension? Last year he berated the long snapper for losing the game, this year the kicker. Can't wait to see what happens next year. Quote
Valpo Zip Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 The only reason Kennedy is running his mouth is to have a freshman class next year. Ihe doesn't say what he just said, no one is heading to Can't next year.I will not be surprised if Martin still gets fired later this year. Quote

johnnyzip84 Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 Perhaps D-O-O-G-I-E is trying to make amends with his players, well at least the one player who has kept them from being winless in recent years.BJ Article on Edelman/Cribbs ComparisonBTW, I just couldn't help taking a small "shot" at the flushes in the comments section, since we all know that Quote
zip81 Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 Love this quote:"He has brought in former Can't State coaches to give opinions on ways to make improvements and has implemented many of their recommendations."The blind leading the blind.   Quote
skip-zip Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 My biggest problem with Martin has been his underhanded "jabbs" over the last few years about people on our side showing "no class". In my 40+ years as a sports fan, I have never seen more classless behavior than I see from those jokers to the East.Filming an "FU Akron" chant at the Rubber Bowl last year...and putting it on you tube.Throwing things onto the floor near the end of our basketball game at Can't last year. Yelling out "Go Can't" during the national anthem at the JAR last year.Booing the military personnel who were being sworn in for duty at the Q during the MAC title game last year. And these are just a few things I have witnessed...IN THE LAST YEAR ALONE. Quote
