UA Fan
We will not win the MAC tourney giving up a difference of 18 rebounds per game. That stat makes us a poor defensive team, contrary to popular opinion. There will be no at-large bid to the NCAA this year. Now we need to focus on conference and hopefully NIT tourney experience for next year. And find some rebounders in the off-season. It's becoming a fun ride and KD will bring us back stronger next year. Congrats to Can't for now, but look out for the future.
axeme
I wouldn't give up so easily if I were you. You still have a shot at the east title if you win your last two and things play out a certain way. Even if not, you guys are very dangerous and match up very well against a lot of teams. Your inexperience showed in our two games a bit, but your team is learning on the job. How many people could we put in the Gund for a third game? It would be a war, I tell you, and anyone's game. Zips showed a lot of guts tonight and fought back everytime we made a run. A couple of bad possessions at the end did you in, but that's MAC hoops. Good luck the rest of the way--I haven't been able to work up much animosity for you guys this year. I like the way your team plays.

Thanks for picking up the drinks after the game See you at the Gund. I think the UofA fans were louder then anything Can't brought to the table. Need not fear Zipsnation, our time is very near..................... Go Zips - Tonight, one got away but the war will be ours. I doubt anyone would argue that time is counting down on the flushers. Congrats to KD and the TEAM -- We are knocking on the door and it will be answered. Congrats again

Rebounding Forgetabout it............................We lost our #1 bounder...this is a short term problem...It's a problem we just have to deal with underneath right now with a variety of players. 68-64 -- It was ours and we let it get away...rebound or no rebound. Don't minimize what we accomplished on the road here -- there are plenty of good things in store for this program. The better TEAM did not win tonight. Go Zips. Zippy989
First of all, Z-Pouch is right. This season has been a fun ride. But it isn't over yet. And has the future ever looked brighter?? Answer: NO. As for tonite's game -- It was there to take, we just didn't execute and get it done. Obervations: Gerwig is a thug and a cheap shot artist. MAC refs are blind. How many times did they miss out of bounds calls both ways tonite? Can't just threw us around tonite... wish Jeremiah was in the line up... Will somebody teach Futch to DUNK THE FREAKIN' BALL!!!! He misses at least 3-4 gimmes every game. KD needs to recruit an enforcer or two for next year!! Maybe a football player or two... a la Bob Huggins.... Still believe... If the rest of the games fall our way, we can still be in a very good position... GO ZIPS!!! and Can't still sucks... UA Fan
68-64 -- It was ours and we let it get away...rebound or no rebound. Don't minimize what we accomplished on the road here -- there are plenty of good things in store for this program. The actual rebounding differential was 37 (Can't State) (wow, even k*s*u gets translated ) to 21 (zips). I agree it says a lot for our team to nearly win on the road with 16 fewer possessions than the opponent. But it puts too much pressure on all the other offensive and defensive aspects of the game trying to overcome that disadvantage. The pattern is established and word is out on the street on how to beat Akron. But on the bright side we're definitely headed in the right direction, we're adding some fun to the league this year and have overachieved what anyone expected in KD's first year. And we still have a decent chance to win at least a first round MAC tournament game to set the tone for next season.
Buckzip
Rebounding is killing the Zips. Wood would make a huge difference, but we do need more depth in the front court. I think alot of people will be very surprised with Nick Dials next year. He will more than make up for the loss of McFadden. With he, and Wood back, along with the younger guys being more experienced, the future looks great.

Scoreboard! 02/26/2005 Can't was the beeter team. Just like seventeen days before in Akron. Zip fans kill me. You just like every Browns fan alive. Wait till next year... You sound like kerry / edwards voters. (once again spelled that way for a reason) "What we could have done with Woods." "Our #1 player was missing". He has been gone all year. Move on already. He will be back next year. He may not be the player he was before the injury. I don't know if many of you know just how bad of an injury that is. I would not bank the whole next season on JW. You guys are a much improved team. I still think kd is winning with hips kids. Time will tell! Good Luck with the thundering turd.

There is nothing that scares me about playing the flushes on a neutral court. Hopefully, we will get the chance to play you at the Gund. Go Zips. zipper
I would not bank the whole next season on JW. No one's banking the whole season on one kid. But for you to deny he would have made a difference in a VERY close game is delusional on your part. I still think kd is winning with hips kids. You are showing your ignorance. Who do you think recruited this year's freshmen and sophs (and juco senior Collins)? Dambrot! If you don't believe it, just ask the players. Neighbor
The Zips are once again the second best program in NE Ohio. You should be used to that by now. Be happy.
Big Zip
I unfortunately missed the game last night and didn't get a chance to watch or listen, but the Can't fan seems to be more right than the biased fans that inhabit this board. I put myself in that category too. I have been cautiously excited about this team from the beginning and this loss certainly didn't make me any more cautious -- I'm glad to see it has helped others. What struck me about this game was we took the lead at 68-64 -- our hallmark is supposedly defense and we give up 9 straight points without scoring once? That is a big concern. For years we've poked fun at the flushes for losing to us in football. In case you have all forgotten this game was the second consecutive loss to the flushes this year. That stings -- it's a loss -- I'm not making any excuses or assumptions on how this team would play with other players. I do note there aren't any big guys coming next year. The Marshall game is the biggest game of the year. To be in the driver's seat and subsequently give a game away is gut wrenching. This team can forget about this game and take Marshall to the woodshed or they can lose their last two games. I don't see the Buffalo game being a winner and won't be surprised if we go from talking about a bye to getting the last home game invite for the tournament. Go ahead and blast me now, but note that I have truly enjoyed watching this team this year -- what KD done has been amazing. I think the strong play early on may have ratcheted up or expectations prematurely.
zipper
BigZip I think you feel letdown today, as do I. But the fact is we just beat Miami five days ago and we had an off game against a very good team - in which we weren't even blown out. In this conference no game is easy. fan37
RealTomeRPI.com still has Zips @ #38 not too bad. Wish we had a player like Gerwig-- he competes, all is not lost folks, some of you think the season is over--IT AIN'T!
Z-Pouch
Big Zip - No bashing here. This one got away on the road - there is no shame in that and no reasons to be overly concerned. Yes, this board is optimistic about the Zips but I have visited a number of the other teams sites and a lot of people are saying good things about the Zips - Not many are looking forward to playing us. Interesting sidenote on the game last night, like you, I'm concerend that we have no BIG guys coming in and Wood is a wildcard on his recovery but the leading rebounder for Can't was a generously listed 6'5 swing man with 10. We also got only 10 minutes out of Futch with foul problems. Futch is the only wide body we really have. You are correct. 68-64, we fell apart defensively/offensively on the road. Edwin's three pointer was pretty wide open but I'm not sure it was a good shot (it ended up being a great one ) but I don't think anyone thought they would trigger so fast down by two with the ball. There was no offensive set, the guy just launched one from 3 feet beyond the arch - It went in Great shot. Down by one, we showed our youth and it was over. Tough Loss. KD said in the post game that this is the type of game that may lead to a let down against Marshall and it's up to the coaches to make sure it doesn't happen - We need Wednesday bad. Sat @Buffalo, Senior nite for 5 guys who turned that program around, big crowd, doesn't sound like alot of fun for the Zips.
superzip
Zips have the ball with a 2 point lead and about a minute to go. They call a time-out. Then they came out of that timne out and end up throwing up a desperation shot!!!
Zipster
Then they came out of that timne out and end up throwing up a desperation shot!!! They had to. The shot clock ran out.

Then they came out of that timne out and end up throwing up a desperation shot!!! Unfortunately no one wanted to step up and be the man. A number of guys had looks and decided to pass and work for a better shot. KD beens pretty good off of timeouts - this is one he'd probably like to forget but there were some shots in the set -- nobody took them. I'd say we showed our youth on the road here. Anyone takes it to the rack and it's a foul.

However, I racall a few years back when the Zips beat the flushes twice in the regular season, then Jose Davis went nuts in the JAR and beat the Zips, starting the flushes impressive 6 year run. Looking forward to next week!!!
