Captain....I don't know where you find some of this stuff....but thanks for the laughs.Regardless of how I feel about our chances this year, I still hope that we can win the majority of our home conference games. And I don't think Buffalo is as good as some think they are. But they have size, and will likely be one of those games where we simply don't have the talent to get it done.Buffalo 58Akron 54

This graphic has not been released due to the loss the football team incurred. Stay tuned...I might just have to save it for the MAC tourney.
My bad, Dr Z. I was confusing it with this one (link). Since, I've seen your high quality artwork in the past, I'll be looking forward to the new creation's release come MAC tourney time :thumb:link

Having seen Buffalo three times two weeks ago, my feeling is they can't afford to have an off shooting night. If Akron's defense plays to their ability, I predict a win, though not an easy one. Rebounding may be the deciding factor. Neither team has size, but Bulls are as scrappy as they come. Akron 68-60

With the way this season appears, my feeling is that every MAC east team will win their home games and loose their away ones.At the end of the season, all mac east teams will be 5-5 in the division :D No seriously, winning away would be a nice thing but we can afford not to win, at home is a different story, this is a must win.

Holy cr@p! We got destroyed on the boards! And had same # of free throws, but they made what, six more than us? Now we gotta beat them on the road to even up.

Last night's performance was, again, painful to watch. I had hopes that this young team would develop and improve throughout the season. But they appear to be stuck on "almost good enough." Neither the team nor the fans appeared up for last night's game. Neither were the refs, who blew some big calls that hurt the Zips. But the bottom line is that the team is just not strong enough to overcome adversity. They need everything to go their way to win big games, and everything rarely goes one way. It's not just one or two players who are inconsistent, either. It's all of them. It's the way they play together as a team. It was so obvious when compared to the way the Buffalo players worked together. The Zips just do not have good team chemistry. One small example: B. McKnight gets the ball, draws in the defense by faking a move to the basket and hits a wide open Conyers for an easy layup. Beautiful fundamental play. But it never happened again. When Buffalo ran a successful play like that, they simply repeated it over and over. That's the problem. The Zips make nice offensive plays less often than their opponents. So I've now accepted the fact that this is an average team. The defense is a little better than average and the offense is a little worse than average. Their season record is not likely to be many games over .500. This is the rebuilding year that was predicted before the start of the season. I like the coaching style and I like the players and will continue to attend all the home games and scream myself hoarse at the refs. I hope the Zips surprise me by peaking in the MAC tournament. But my expectations for this team have been lowered.

Both McKnights go off. Conyers with a double double.Zips roll 74-59
Nice call on the McKnights, very productive minutes! :thumb: Conyers stats showed that the closest he got last night was:db.jpgTime for him to step it up, or hit the pine. Two turnovers and two assists is now considered the "dubble bubble"

Here's some of my thoughts after last night's game....Now, I know I've probably leaned more to the negative side in many of my comments, and I don't think highly of our chances this year, but I will point out a couple of positives first.1) On most nights, this team competes. I think they understand that they can play defense and stay in games, and through our first two conference games...it shows.2) I'm feeling a little bit better today than I have in the past about the McKnight's being able to produce in the paint. We need it...badly.Negatives:1) Still far too many silly turnovers. And you simply can't have that when you are not shooting the ball well. Every possession must count. We know who the main culprit is, and I sure hope he continues to work himself out of that problem sooner rather than later. My fellow old basketball buddies sitting around me were impressed with KDs decision to go with the more experienced Roberts and McNees at crunch time with the ball in their hands in the backcourt. Although, that long drive to the basket by Roberts that resulted in a charging foul was dumb. I saw that coming several seconds before it even happened. And we nearly had the game in hand when it happened. Ouch. 2) I stilll don't understand how Bardo can only grab 2 rebounds in 22 minutes of play. 3) I saw way too many (and I'll be nice) "ill advised" shots. Watching guys drive into the paint and throwing up wild shots that would maybe hit the basket 1 out of 20 times is really painful. I'd rather see us shoot 3-pointers all night than do that. 4) I really believe at this point that Nate simply isn't able to change his past role. He isn't producing what we need offensively, and I can't really blame him when it is such a diversion from what he has been asked to do the past 3 years. But I sure wish he would get more aggressive with the basketball offensively. 5) Am I the only one who sees the benefits of having Cvetinovic on the floor more often?6) I'm really dissapointed in the attendance (especially the no-shows in the lower sections), and moreso with the lack of enthusiasm from the fans who are there. Ok, we know we aren't as good as we've been the last couple of years, but should that change people's attitudes about yelling and screaming for their team? Is it just that our style of play this year is a little boring? Is it because we don't seem to have players with excitable personalities that we can rally behind like Jeremiah and Nick? I just see a real lack of connection between the fans and the players this year.

i think this quote from k.d. sums it up pretty wellOn the difference between this season's team and those of recent seasons:“I think we don’t have many playmakers. We just don’t have anybody who can come in and take control of the game. And the one guy (Brett McKnight) that can score a little bit, I can’t leave on the floor because he doesn’t guard. I started him in the second half and the first five points are his. And that’s not his fault, we have to teach him to play better, but he needs to be on the floor for us to have any chance offensively. Humpty (Hitchens) and (Steve) McNess can play, they were just a bit dead-legged tonight. I thought Darryl Roberts played a bit better tonight.” side note....it's nice to see c mcknight picking his game up. now, if they could just teach him how to rebound. :screwks:

I am really disappointed in the the student attendance. The University has what 20-25 thousand students and they couldn't fill the lower two ends of the student section. When I attended the U (back in the prehistoric days) we had 5,000 students and had at least twice as many students at the games, every game. :( :(

It truly is embarrassing. I was one of the few down there screaming and being loud but the lack of student attendance in my opinion is attributed to one thing: marketing. It is SHOCKING how little people know about the details of home games. I talk to people in my classes and friends on campus who don't even know we have a game. I usually come with about 5 or 6 other friends to the game and at least 3 of them have to be reminded that there is a game on game day because they hadn't heard anything on campus about it. There is one little sign on Brown St and that is about it. Even more shocking is the fact that I had a friend come last night for his first game finally after 2 semesters of trying to get him to come and when we got there he started pulling out cash as if to buy a ticket! He didn't even know we got in free! Why dont we have giveaways?! Why dont we have more signage on campus on gamedays?! It's simple stuff.
