I doubt that this site format was built specifcially for UA. Most of the university athletic websites are hosted by one of three different vendors who support several different formats. Sorry, I'm going to try to be more sensitive, I guess, but that was a funny comment.Anyway, let me just say this. I opened it now on my PC with a much higher resolution than my laptop, and after I got the whole breadth, I can say that the layout is nicer than the old page. It has a more rectangulo-tabular feel.Everything else, including the lack of a prominent link column for ease of navigation, and the effusive advertising, is not good. Not good at all. In any case, anyone who has a problem tuning out advertising is likely going to spend the rest of their lives in misery unless they move into a cabin in the boondocks and disconnect from modern civilization.By the way, I just experienced for the first time the wierd double banner seen by others at the top of the new website when I clicked on Site Map. zippyrifle32 Posted February 7, 2009 Report Share Posted February 7, 2009 the layout looks nice, but the website is still crap. it seems like everything is off to the left, and i really liked how the previous banners had pics of student athletes playing for their respective sport page. the change in the layout is not bad, and it will take some getting used to, but the content of the website and presentation on pages other than the home pages for each sport are pathetic and make us appear the class b status that many people take us as. for example:the content of this page is exactly the same as the previous page. for each of these people there should be the biographies next to their photo and name, just like you see in the football media guide. for the ad specifically, he should have his own page. MANY other schools have this set up, so it's easier to find this information. if you want it on gozips then you have to go to the football page and download the pdf of the media guide where they have these bio's. so, 1. it looks bad. and 2. it's lacking information that should be there. next:wtf is going on here? all the ads on other pages are on the left and BAM! here it's on the right. weird. the whole page is tacky and sloppy. dark blue links over dark blue background?next: big white empty space. need i say more?finally:presentation is shitty and the links don't go anywhere. I agree with everyone in the fact that we should band together to make changes. However, I was just stating that while there are SOME errors with the page (mostly they depend on which browser you use, comp etc.) overall those changes are positive. We're quick to judge here and perhaps a bit harsh even at times! The redesign is a step in the right direction! Progress people, progress. I was taken aback by some of the foul commentary directed at me, but nonetheless, I'll stick around posting because I want the same things you all do, a top notch athletic department! And if people there read this stuff, I want them to take it seriously and not just view it as a bunch of 'critical people who think they could do a better job'. That's pretty bad. I especially like the shots of band members that look straight out of the nineties. There's a few outdated pictures used in some of the booklets UA sends to prospective students. Talk about sending the wrong image. Although after looking at the 08-09 undergrad prospectus is gives me hope that the marketing team here is worth something. Ill talk to my boss and ask him if he can get in contact with the band dept to see if they want us to update their page.
