ZachTheZip
The Nike Zoom LeBron VI, as modeled by the King himself. I love the skyline, along with something that looks like a new arena on the outside heel.

Blue & Gold
The Nike Zoom LeBron VI, as modeled by the King himself. I love the skyline, along with something that looks like a new arena on the outside heel. These are the sweetest, sickest shoes I've ever seen. I am going to purchase more than one pair. LeBron's the man. I've also looked at that picture on the outside heel. Look at it again and tell me if you don't think it looks like the top of the clock tower of Canal Park. Though, of course, news of a new arena would make me one of the happiest people on earth!

ZZZips
where is the akron logo on the shoe?"They have been dubbed the Akron Editions, and are inspired by the University of Akron. Although he never attended college, he still feels the need to show love to his home roots. The shoes feature a white toe along with navy blue side panels that include detailed images of LeBron’s home city, right down to the sign from the street he grew up on. Finishing of the shoes are gold accents along with the University of Akron logo inside the collar as an added touch."Quoted from: www.kicksonfire.com/2009/02/17/nike-zoom-lebron-6-vi-akron-edition/
MDZip
I hope there are plans to put these on both our basketball team's feet when they are available. Now that would be unique.

THAT would be a recruiting tool.

I tried to look at pictures from the Ball State game and it looks close but deosn't look like quite the same shoe. Is it? As I look at more pictures from the game it doesn't appear that everyone is wearing the same style of shoe (see McNees, Steve). http://uaim.dyndns.info/photo_galleries/_A...e/021109015.htm
Zip Watcher
I don't remember which game it was .. I think the CMU game that was the Saturday when the Coaches vs. Cancer thing happened, where the staff wore tennis shoes.I think I remember them pointing out that KD & company (and maybe some players) were wearing the new Akron themed shoes. Dr Z
I'm positive it was the CMU game. The shoes were MUCH more interesting than the game.Every night before I go to bed, I pray that CMU fires Ernie so I never have to watch the likes of that again! The women are still under the existing Adidas contract. The is some confusion as to why some players are not using the new shoe. The answer is that the players have a choice of which shoes they order under the contract. Players have been selecting various models all season based upon how they like the specific fit and performance.

originalrowdy
Any word as to the Zoom VI Akron editions from anyone? I am told so far, just House of Hoops and some test area of Footlockers in Phoenix (I know right???) are the only places. I'd really like to get my hands on a pair of them babies! Blue & Gold
I asked in the Footlocker @ Belden Village whether they had the Akron LBJ's and the young (& I'm not certain how reliable) salesman told me that it was likely that only the stores in NY and Chicago would have them. Does that make any sense?

MDZip
The shoes were released today at House of Hoops in NYC. I just called them and they do have a few left but you need to be in NY to get them (but from the PD article it also appears at least a few will be available in Cleveland). It just so happens my son is in NY today for the Big East Tournament, so I'm trying to reach him to see if I can get him up to get a pair. They do not seem like they are going to be released to a widespread distribution, it seems more like a very limited release for collectors. I even called Nike and the person I talked to had less information than I did - but she did mention that she had talked to another Zips fan that morning. Anyway, here is the PD article on their release -3/13/2009, 6:43 a.m. EDTThe Associated Press CLEVELAND, Ohio (AP) — LeBron James is stepping out for his Ohio hometown on his newest Nike sneaker. The latest shoe in the company's Zoom LeBron VI line pays tribute to Akron by featuring the city's downtown skyline in its stitching. It also shows a sign for Hickory Street — where the Cleveland Cavaliers star grew up — and a milk crate, the "basket" James used when he first played hoops.Nike spokesman KeJuan Wilkins says the shoe is a sign of James' deep connection with Akron. The limited-edition white, navy blue and gold sneaker is being released Friday in New York and costs $140 per pair.At least one chain store in Cleveland expects to have a few dozen pairs available for sale on Saturday. MDZip
My son was able to pick up two pair of the LeBron Akron shoes in NY (and got the last pair at 10 1/2, the next available size was a 15) because he got one for me and thought the shoes looked so good he got a pair for himself, so I have a Pitt student wearing Zips logo shoes - the revolution has begun (although he did point out that Akron and Pitt have the same basic color scheme ). Now if I could only get them and get to the Q to wear them.
