BG Game

Can I make a suggestion----- for both BG game and senior night with OU. Im sure some of our game day people, administraters, and even players/coaches occasionally look at these blogs. How about stealing another page from the Cavs............Just like we have rise up on zipvision. Im proposing that instead of just having the cheerleaders throw out tshirts we have the players themselves maybe take off tshirts and throw them out into the crowd. Maybe even run up to upper level( ok- walk....)and throw out some tshirts, hats, stuffed zippies, whatever.. Show off some of that Nikola enthusiasm!!!! Run over to rowdies and high five em all. The idea- to fire up the fans!!!!! Also--- what ever happened to those videos on the scoreboard---- the one with Zippy fighting off the other MAC mascots, and rock the house, and ( from Rudy)"No one- no one comes into our house and pushes us around!", and its raining 3's. How bout a little entertainment on the big video boards, instead of just cam shots and ads.

I thought I'd let everyone here know that Spicer St. southbound is closed and will be for the next few weeks. They are working on the sewers under the street, so Spicer St. between Exchange and Vine St. is only open to northbound traffic from Exchange. It shouldn't affect your travel much, but just be aware of it.As for ideas, infofan... Having the players themselves toss stuff out is a horrible idea. I want their entire focus on winning the game, not tossing out free stuff to fans. Winning games will get more people in seats than promos.I do agree on the videos you speak of. They'd be much more entertaining and get the fans a little more excited about the game than they presently are. I am all for having instant replays and such, but lets mix it up! One thing the Cavs will do at games is use the cameras to show the crowd and they'll have either Cavs fans on the screen, and every time a opponent's fan is on the screen, they put a big "X" over the video... it's those little things that keep the crowd involved and pumped.I would also like to add that they need to tone down the t-shirt cannon. Last time they had that out, they were hitting the rafters. In fact, in 1 occasion a tshirt got stuck up there.

Sunday brings another game where the Zips battle for first place in the MAC. BG seems to have bipolar disorder. They can either be really good or really bad. There are only three games left this season, and both the team and the fans have to show up for the full 40 minutes each time.
Only three games left? Did the Zips get disqualified from the MAC tournament? I hope you have not put a hex on the team that cannot be removed.

I agree with you guys I think getting the fans into this game can, and will be a major advantage for the Zips. The excitement is contagious so I think every little thing that can be done will help. It's extra important in these few remaining "momentum games" to get the fans and team into it so we can roll right through the MAC tournament. Not sure what the spark will be...but I know it can ignite a fire within the arena. I'm gonna be on the edge of my seat but I hope most of the game will be spent standing and cheering with the rest of the arena!Time to get the ball rolling Lets go zips!

I struggled when I wrote that. I originally has this big post planned callign the fans out about the poor attendance, about how much it helps our young team stay focused, how we can't sleep through anymore game like against Miami, etc., but I chose to leave it at that one sentence.I wrote three games left in the season because after that it's all elimination games, which I consider the post-season.

I think it would have been less painful to have fallen and broken a leg this morning and spent the day in the emergency room than having travelled to the JAR today and witnessing what I saw.
I agree, although I'm not even mad. I'm so used to disappointment by now that I'm completely numb to it.

It was nice to see KD throw the McKnight brothers under the bus in his post game comments posted on Rasor's blog.....not really. Praise in public and criticize in private KD. If you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all. The funny thing is he went into the press conference aiming to throw them under the bus. He knew exactly what their combined attempts and made shots were. He put some thought into that before he did it. Instead of throwing guys under the bus, he should have said the following. "We only scored 46 points today in a college basketball game. If it was 1950, that total might be ok, but it isn't. I am ashamed and I take personal responsibility for this loss. While there is enough blame to go around, please direct any criticism at me and my style of basketball that can lead to this outcome. I was beaten today at my own game.....a defensive and low scoring affair."

I consider myself a fan, and I only mention that because I am sure the statement will be called into question after I say what I'm about to say, but I can't seem to bring myself to the levels of desperate anger you guys get when we lose a game. These players are competators and I have no doubt take the loses harder that we do.Do you really need to get this upset?

yes!And by the way, I pay $4000+ for my season tickets (my tuition) and i dont believe im getting my money's worth.Add to that, the officiating today was just plain unfair. I'm getting so sick of this kind of shafting every game by the zebras.

Zeke Marshall where aaaarrrreeee yoooouuu.I know he's not the only answer to our prayers, but for a majority of that game we were being heavily out rebounded.I'm finished worrying about the MAC refs. I've realized that I have to consider them as much a part of the game as I do the players. God knows they have just as much, if not more, effect on the outcome than our team does.

lol, it's as if we got blown out or something.two or three crucial momentary differences in that last minute and you guys would be reveling in what a great game it was because we hung in there and pulled it out in a close one.I'm sorry, I know that when you invest your emotions you get jilted the swing from high to low get's multiplied, but I just can join you guys in your barf-fest. :puke::tomato: It's just a game. We'll get 'em next time.

don't mistake my statement for real disappointment....this team has exceeded many expectations this year and it isn't over....my compaint was real about the lack of focus and i felt mclanahan lead the way
GOSHHH when he didnt run after their player and hustle down the floor on back to back fast breaks a few of the rowdies on the north side including me let him have it and i can honestly say i have never yelled at my own teams player like that before. That really got me worked up. But i guess he did pick it up later in the second half on a few fast breaks he was running 100 mph down after their guys and on one occasion cut the guy off from the basket and forced a pass at least.

It was a combination of things. The refs were not so hot. They made a few questionable calls against BGSU, but unquestionably made more bad calls against the home team. That alone would have been survivable. But Coach Orr had his team well prepared for the Zips. They took the McKnights out of the game, and the Zips didn't adjust fast enough. They took away the Zips passing lanes, and the Zips didn't adjust fast enough. They threw up a defense that stopped the Zips both inside and out, and the Zips didn't adjust fast enough. And, finally, the Zips just did not execute crisply and intelligently. I think it was a case of being out-smarted, out-hustled, out-played and out-coached by a team the Zips should have beaten handily in spite of the refs. It's really frustrating for everyone. I'm not angry, but I am disappointed. I'm sure the players and coaching staff are, too. The Zips are doing better than was expected of them at the beginning of the season, so expectations have naturally grown higher. But they are now closing in on a Tuesday night game in the MAC tournament, and a game played like this one at the Q will be lights out.

A few thoughts....If BG wasn't so awful from the free throw line, this game would not have even been this close. We got beat today. Plain and simple.Everything you guys are saying about McClanahan adds to some of my thoughts for some time. He appears to be interested in only shooting the basketball...pretty much. And he isn't doing that very well either.I have no real feelings anymore about MAC refs. I'm done with getting upset about it. They make bad calls all over the place, and over time, I'm sure it hurts us as much as it helps us.B Mac is what he is. Sometimes he's on, and sometimes he's not. The MAC picture changes by the day. One day, we're looking good for the #1 seed, the next day we may not get a bye at all. Get ready for a wild ride as this thing closes out.
