Tom Hagen
Greetings fellow Zips fans. I received a request from The Nation, and was able to locate an associate that ... let's just say .. "owed my employer a service." Below is unedited footage of the Singletary / Linhart incident in today's game. The first replay of the baseline video which shows the infraction most clearly begins at the 2:15 mark of the video. Here's hoping the next 7 days of Zips basketball are brighter and more enjoyable than the last 7 days.Cordially,T. bUAkronG
Once again Hagen comes through for us. I posted this video on my facebook to spread the news that Can't State basketball is a home for thuggery! Go Zips!
WinZip
While at the game there was no way I could have had a clear angle of this, but after watching the last clip of the video I can't see any reason not to call that a punch. While I (and no one else for that matter) can know his true intention, it was out of line... period. I personally believe that the one game suspension given was enough, but I think it would show no class on Can't State's part if they did not follow up with some discipline of their own. I know there are quite a few Can't fans that have had enough of his antics and pure lack of sportsmanship, but I won't get my hopes up.I'll just be cheering all the louder when we get another chance to beat them at our game.Lets Go Zips! Bleacher Bum
Anyone else hear KD on the postgame show? He said he'd done it before and it was only a matter of time before he got caught. Then he compared it to drunk driving. "You do it enough times, you're gonna get caught." Looks like Singletipsy got busted on both. If we see them again in the tournament, the Rowdies better think of something good for him.Just watched it again...what a pathetic piece of trash. You do that in public, you're facing assault charges...you do it in a basketball game, apparently you're ejected for 39 minutes and not suspended. What a crock of $h!t. GoZips88
To look at them all decked out in pee-yellow Can't T-shirts in the middle of one of the Can't student sections and then the other, all the while 'cheering' for Can't you'd NEVER suspect they're actually Rowdies. I had 'Zippy' next to me pointing them out - what a hoot. You'd think SOMEONE at Can't would be wise to them by now ... but, then again, it's Can't.The undercover Rowdies were able to successfully enlist the services of at least one Can't idiot, tried to entice a second, but decided not to push things too far and settled for the idiot holding one end of the banner while one of the undercover guys slowly unfurled the banner. These two guys belong in the Rowdy Hall of Fame I say!
Quickzips
http://www.blogs.dixcdn.com/kentstatesports/?p=49Local Can't State hack and Singletary PR man Dave Carducci actually believes Singletary should be suspended. A GRAND TOTAL OF ONE GAME. Yes because one game suspensions have really gotten Chris Singletary's attention before. What is more amazing to me is the "blame Nate Linhart, he flopped on the play" attitude that Carducci and many of the Can't fans have adopted. I've come to expect a lot of resentment towards Nate by opposing fans who find his scrappy, hustle play annoying, but this is a new low. Even for Can't fans. Nate was in the air in an entirely defenseless position with absolutely no ability to brace himself when Singletary (a pretty strong dude) wound up and punched him right in the solarplexes. You try taking that hit and still being able to breathe, let alone play basketball. But you betcha. Linhart took the flop there. Ridiculous. Carducci is a hack and should be embarrased by this kind of journalism.
zen
I dunno. The shot looks deliberate, but it doesn't look hard to me. Yes, I understand that everyone is a bit tender there. He should get a one game suspension for deliberately dirty play. That's probably about it.Nate isn't a wuss, right? He doesn't need a bunch of momma's trying to throw their skirts in front of him. I think Can't should be pressured to issue a suspension and when that happens, we need to stop the hissy.

We are not a part of what happens on the court. Like the floor of the Roman Colosseum, they have their own code. It's not our job to whine for Nate. They have their own order of things... their own jurisdiction in a way. I actually like the point made on the board that letting things like this go harms the integrity of the game. That is why I think that Can't and the MAC should be pressured to respond to this incident.... not to make us happy or even to protect a certain player, but because it deserves a response.A message needs to be sent for the integrity of the game.I just don't think we need to get to whiney once our protest has been lodged. skip-zip
Did anyone else notice in the video that the commentator says that Keith went over and said something to him? Does anyone know anything about what was said?I also love how we kept acting like he didn't do anything. My opinion....College kids get in trouble off the court sometimes. And it's not the first time someone threw a punch in a game. But, the continual pattern of behavior by this guy is just bad for intercollegiate athletics. I think it's long overdue that he be told that he cannot play college basketball again.

Emotions are running high in games like this, but that is no excuse for a classless play and player. He doesn't belong on any team if he's gonna take away from the game as he both has and continues to do.

Dave in Green
The slo-mo near the end of the video captures everything in exquisite detail. You can even watch it frame-by-frame by quickly double-tapping the space bar on your keyboard, which causes the video to start and stop. Singletary lowers his arm all the way down below his waist with his hand open, clenches his open hand into a fist and drives his arm up in a vicious uppercut to the ribs as Linhart is in the air looking to his right and releasing the pass.If it hadn't been caught on tape, it's possible that no one would have seen it and nothing would have ever been done about it. I think back now to other games where I've seen players mysteriously end up on the floor at Singletary's feet holding their ribs, and no one seemed to know what had happened. Notice how Singletary keeps his arm buried in Linhart's chest after the blow with his hand now open again, which makes it appear to anyone not seeing the full windup and blow that he was just trying to "help" keep Linhart from falling. It may not be possible to prove what was going through Singletary's mind, but the intent of a blindside uppercut to the ribcage is pretty clear. Singletary has long had a reputation as a dirty player, and this video merely confirms what many have long believed. The fact that it took so long to catch him on video may be a testament to his cleverness. The whole incident happened in a fraction of a second, and would be impossible to analyze without the benefit of slo-mo replay. This is one incident that should not be allowed to go away quietly. The MAC and the NCAA should study this video in great detail. Every ref and every coach whose team is scheduled to play Can't State should be made aware of this tactic and be on the lookout for it.There are no longer any excuses for allowing something like this to go on in college basketball. He needs to get suspended for the entire tourney, and then get kicked out of basketball.Anyone else notice also, that Geno Ford is defending Chris? I mean it sucks to lose one of your best players, but to defend that kind of classlessness is just absurd. Bring Christian back; at least he kept the rivalry respectful (for the most part, since it's Can't State).
