UAZipster0305
I brought this up weeks ago, but now that we are in and the conjecture more valid, who are the realistic matchups for us in the tourney and who are ideal opponents? Because we just got in last night and the brackets are announced at 6P today, the window of time for this discussion is tight.I see Florida State as a 3/4/5/6 seed depending on how they do against Duke today. We will likely be a 13-15 and in the same regional. Given the NIT win at FSU last year, I would love to play them again. The rosters are nearly the same, so the Zips should know they can win this matchup. Also, given the strengths of their programs and geographic locations, I would like to see the Zips schedule yearly matchups against Dayton, Duquesne, Cleveland State, and Niagra. Would make a very nice OOC schedule in addition to occasional Big 11/East programs. Great opportunites for fan/alumni roadtrips for away games too. Zips fan
I wouldn't mind seeing Syracuse. I imagine the results would be the same a football, about a 14 point win. I have a strange feeling we will be paired up against Washington(PAC 10 champ).
w00t
Washington is probably the team I would most prefer to see and that I think we match up against very well... a good team, but we match up against them OK size-wise, they're not a great three-point shooting team, and their bench is short. I also think they overachieved a little bit early in the season and they're falling back to earth at the moment. Florida St. has a lot more height on their roster this year (adding Singleton, Alabi, and Gibson to their front line) and they're on a roll right now, I hope we avoid them. MDZip
Clemson or UCLA. Both seem to be falling a little right now. Don't want to see Florida St again, Xavier, Kansas or Wake.
DoubleA13
I agree that Florida State is a very dangerous team. If we can avoid them I will be happy. Washington for reasons mentioned seem like a pretty good matchup for us. Pretty much any team that cannot shoot the 3 very well would be ideal, assuming we continue our 7th in the nation 3 point defense. UCLA and Purdue wouldn't be terrible either, but I also believe they are better than Washington. And Purdue may very well be too athletic for us. Other than all of that, it is probably going to come down to whether or not the other team can shoot 3 pointers very well.
ZippyRulz
http://collegebasketball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=924107Yahoo Sports has us as the weakest 13 seed with the 4 seeds being Syracuse, Florida State, Washington and Gonzaga. I would not want to play FSU again as they would have revenge on their mind. I would love to have a crack at Gonzaga.
Let'sGoZips94
I would love to see Syracuse, Washington, WVU, or anyone with a short bench. I think we have a chance at a first round upset if we play against a short bench. LET'S GO ZIPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RowdyZip
I know it doesn't REALLY mean anything, but for some reason I'd love to see us get a 12... In reality...i'm guessing a 13 or 14. Anyone remember what Miami was seeded two years ago?

Anyone remember what Miami was seeded two years ago?Miami was a 14 seed, and they got blown out by #3 seeded Oregon.I wouldn't want to play Purdue either. They just got back to full strength and are playing tough.

ZippyTuba11
I'd love to get the Suckeyes, but they will be seeded too low to meet them right off. Maybe I'm alone here, but I wouldn't mind playing Florida St. We beat them last year, we can do it again. It would go a great way to proving that Akron is a strong team and deserving the dance. Dave in Green
This is where the Zips' game experience against Pitt will serve them well. They know how they stack up against an elite team, and what they will have to do to overcome the handicap of playing bigger, faster, more athletic players. Whoever they draw, if they play as they did at the Q, they will not be embarassed. They might lose to a superior team, but they will fight to the end and have everyone's respect. ZachTheZip
Just keep in mind who our fate is now in the hands of: Laing Kennedy.
bigzipguy
Kennedy has no say where the Zips are seeded. He presents the facts, but is not even allowed in the room, when the decision is made. That is the NCAA rules.
ZachTheZip
I thought that was only if his own team is being considered. Besides, all the decisions are interconnected. You can't just be out of the room for only when a team from your conference is being seeded, because so many other factors and decisions are indirectly influencing that decision.
