Orange Roster Getting Squeezed this Spring

I remember when Gerry Faust finally got the boot here at Akron, there was a similar exodus of players... for a whole host of varying reasons. When new coaches come into losing programs, I guess this is pretty much to be expected.

In more cases than you probably think, college athletes simply have much more loyalty to the coaches who brought them, rather than the school itself.

Whoa. At least as interesting as the turnover being experienced by Syracuse's roster is the prospect of possibly facing former Duke PG Greg Paulus as Orange QB next year :blink: Not that I'm particularly bothered by that. It's just a little strange.

For all the slack that Syracuse took, they made the right hire in Doug Marrone. He's a great recruiter and coach. He was at Tennessee for a while, and did an outstanding job before going to the NFL. They may take their lumps this upcoming year, but they will rebound in the near future.

Excellent, Cap'n! Keeping it in Western PA personalities, I'm wondering if THIS former Duke PG (who also happens to do the color for Pitt hoops radio broadcasts these days) has any football eligibility left?

There was something odd about it..... It's interesting how many people on this board bought into it. The kid was one of five players in his senior class to sign a D-1A scholarship and he had the least talent. Odds were he was not a D-1A player and it proved out to be true. When coaches take over programs, they have very frank discussions with players about their athletic ability and whether or not they fit into the future of the program. I'm sure many discussions like that went on at Syracuse as well as other schools around the country.
