Let'sGoZips94
I was there. My dad, my uncle, and I all sat on the home side. We were closer to the top, around the middle. At times, you could barely see the field. Greatest game at the Rubber Bowl I've ever seen there in my 14 year life. We left in the 3rd quarter; the cold found my skin even though I had like 5 billion layers on, not to mention the hand and feet warmers I was holding. What a great game; the Frozen Turkey Bowl. Go Zips!
Zipsrifle
You know I'm sure a lot more people will say they were there than there really were. Stayed the whole game and had a great time. Akron Clinched a trip to the MACC and there were about 100 people to cheer them on.
UAbandfan
Thanks for the link to the pictures. I didn't take a camera because it was so damn cold. All four of my family was there through the whole game - son was in the band. We felt that if he had to be there in nothing more than a band uniform and sad little coat and those flimsy band shoes, we could be there with every article of clothing we owned! I remember halftime (of course, I do!) when someone proposed marriage on the field. I have often wondered if he had to convince her to stay until halftime! While the band played, valves were freezing and fewer and fewer instruments were working by the end of the performance. I also remember the moan coming from the home crowd as the can't state majorettes removed their coats for their performance - crazy college kids! Aaron
Ah yes, the freezer bowl. I was one of the 100 or so there till the bitter end - I HAD to see the team get the MAC championship, especially when it came by beating Can't State.I remember hanging out with the Band in one of the few heated areas of the Rubber bowl - the restroom, building up enough internal heat to head back out and brave the cold again for another few minutes. The kickoffs and punts being pushed by the wind all the way to the 1 yd line were great. I think the most important play of that game for the Zips was the opening coin toss, to get the wind on their side. This game ranks up with my most memorable Rubber Bowl events ever (right up there with the Hoban vs. St. V-M game of '96, the first year they renewed their rivalry).
