skip-zip
"If he went to Akron, their football program would have been top 20"Nice quotes from local coaches, including JD.It sure is an interesting thing to think about. Personally, even if he had gone to Akron to play football, and even if he would have indeed been an NFL-caliber TE/Receiver, I'm not thinking that one player at that position could have made Akron a top-20 team. However, I think it would have been very possible for him to have impacted Akron basketball enough to make us a top-20 team. Z.I.P.
"If he went to Akron, their football program would have been top 20"Nice quotes from local coaches, including JD.Can someone who is familiar with the St.V's football program confirm or deny the author's comment about Mark Murphy being a member of the Packers Hall of Fame? I think he has him confused (very common mistake) with the OTHER Mark Murphy, who's career was slightly before the St.V's Mark Murphy. I think the Irish DC played his entire career with the Redskins, didn't he? The Packers' ex-player and current Chief Executive Officer is a different Mark Murphy, not from Akron. And Kara Murphy is the daughter of the ex-Redskin, current Irish DC. Or then again, I might be full of beans.

ZIPCODE
Aloha Z.I.P. Too many azuki beans in your shave ice? The St. V Mark Murphy is originally from Canton where he played high school ball at GlenOak. He then played at West Liberty State and was a 10th round pick for the Packers in 1980. He had an outstanding 10-11 year career with the Packers and was indeed inducted into their HOF.
