Zipsrifle
Looks like Chase and Grez might get a chance with the Browns. I like how the Browns are giving so many guys a shot. I don't see how they lose anything. I think it’ll be a battle between Frye and Harris for backup. Obviously you know who I want to win. Amazing how silent the Can't fans are on Cribbs. MAC Flavor in Browns

MAC Flavor in Browns When it comes to football...Can't fan(s?) is/are typically pretty silent. BTW: I'm surprised Borecci isn't signed up yet? Maybe he's got a better deal than a Browns tryout in the works? He was our best OL last year.

Captain Kangaroo
He was our best OL last year. And that means ???? It means I felt he was our best offensive lineman (OL) last season. Sorry if that was confusing.

Maybe he's got a better deal than a Browns tryout in the works? He was our best OL last year. I disagree. I think Conley was the best OL and he did win the MVP of the OL from the coaching staff at the end of the year banquet. I think Conley's had too many injuries though to think about a pro career. That does surprise me about Borecci too though. I thought he would've been picked up by now. The only thing that's maybe holding him back is his weight (only around 280 lbs soaking wet). zipper
Captain, it means Charlie had to run for his life. No offense to the guy, but being Akron's best OL man probably means absolutely squat for a pro team. Maybe I'm wrong - it only takes one or two holes to cause trouble for a QB, but I'd be surprised if any of our OL got a shot.

Neighbor
Amazing how silent the Can't fans are on Cribbs. What's the big deal? He's going to the Browns. Cribbs would play with better talent on an Arena league team. Besides, after Lambert and Gates, it takes more than showing up to impress us about potential NFL talent. ZipDude
Another country heard from here on this thread: Fact-61 was the best lineman last year. I am very surprised he did not get any mentions. He was a pre season Rimington candidate also. I hear an agent sought him out and maybe there is something down the road. I for one hope so As for the other former Zips now Brownie "projects" time will tell. I hope their work ethics carry them a long way. Little Gres is a mystery. Only played one year, but he has the bloodline, the body, now if he can play his heart out and become a warrior. 5 will win the job eventuallyt once he gets the chance. Old timers remember the OU thursday night opener in the OSU year?? Sparks goes down early with turf toe and Owens reaches down in his ditty bag and comes up with 5...the rest is , as they say...history. Oh yeah, why was 69 the OL of the year...he started for 4 years. Congrats to the Zips in the bigs...dammit now I will have to become a Brownie fan ...again. Go Beagles...give Cherry a chance. for the Padre
KentZip
Tony Grossi, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports the Cleveland Browns have invited undrafted rookie free agent LB Chase Blackburn (Akron) to their upcoming minicamp to tryout with the team. GP1
I've mentioned this on the board before, and I'll mention it again. Chase stands a good chance, if he gets on with the right team, to have a long career as a long snapper. He's good at it, he's fast and he takes up a lot of space in the middle. Long snappers play sometimes for 15-17 years if they are good. He could have the longest NFL career of any Zip ever.
InTheZone
Follow along. We're talking about Borecci. And I should have said, "I am surprised..." Sorry. I am following along. You said you'd be surprised if anyone on our O-line got a shot, which apparently one already has. Don't get smart ass with me when you're the one who made the idiotic comment. Jack Lambert helps the flushes every day when a football fans walks past his display in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Thanks for asking. fmrzipsOL
Not to mention that 61 played in a all-star game. Oh well, if anyone from Akron other than Charlie deserved a chance based soly on heart it is little Grz. He loves the game and has a work ethic unmatched. I'm happy for him. Conley decided awhile ago that he had too many injuries to go on. I am surprised that either 61 or 62 got at least a tryout, i mean those two started 35 straight games, that deserves at least a shot. To my understanding 62 has not yet given up yet, and 61 is on the edge. He is about to graduate and is ready to move on. Congrats to Griz and Chase, hope they make it, and I hope Picc makes it too. Hope everything works out for everyone
Z-P
Good Luck to all these guys chasing the dream.................but as stated waaaaaay back 2 years ago or something.............this is all just an effort to get enough bodies in the mini camp to "play ball"............. Think about it...........you've got the "investments" over in Europe playing, the next group is playing Arena.......there's even an A2 league now..............and all the vets and returning guys are "healing" thru the offseason...........so the only way the Pros can get enough guys together to play a little ball is to call everyone in, and give em 2 to 5K for beating their brains out one last time in order to see how their draft choices look up close. Regardless, I'd still have done it if I could have too!
