Hello Zips fans, I am considering a road trip to game in September. Are there any tickets left through your ticket office? Also wondered about lodging and tailgating. How far is the stadium from downtown? The new stadium looks very nice by the way. It should be close game. I would expect it to be an exciting atmosphere. Thanks in advance for any info.

Welcome to ZipNation! I'm sure there will be single-game tickets available...but I also assume it will eventually sell-out. I wouldn't hold off too long on your purchase.Stay tuned for tailgating information. The University is still drafting their 99 page code of conduct...since tailgating on a school campus has never been done before in the history of Division 1 athletics. I wish we had more information to offer, but at this time the University has told the public jack-squat regarding tailgating and parking. Also - we play the Hoosiers in soccer the Friday prior to the football game. I highly recommend getting tickets for that on-campus event too.

The UA Police said that as long as your drink is in a cup they could care less, but once they see bottles and cans they will come over if anyone looks underage. Also no cooking in any deck but all open lots are fair game. They said they arn't going to be very strict.

Hi there!Individual tickets haven't even gone on sale yet, but there should be plenty if you get them early. This game will more then likely be a sellout, so don't wait. For lodging, there are plenty of hotels in the general area, but only two that are located downtowm: the university-run Quaker Square, and a Raddison Inn. If you can get into Quaker Square, it's one of the coolest hotels around, with round hotel rooms created from old grain silos from the original Quaker Oats factory. The stadium is not even two minutes from downtown, and there are highways all over the place if you're staying a bit further out.As far as tailgating, stop back a few days before the game, once we figure out what's up. Hopefully we'll learn a lot from the game the week before, but I expect that there will be some kinks to work out still, so any feedback after the game would be great. It's all experimental, since the stadium is over 5 miles from the old one and we're going to have to re-learn all the details.

Do NOT go to Thursday's unless you are under 24 years old. Or you just want a 32-oz cup of cheap beer before the game. There is a BW-3's directly across from the stadium. That will be the "hopping" game day bar. There are also some nice bars downtown, near the ballpark. They are a 15-minute walk across campus to the stadium.

I meanat after the game. going downtown is only good if you are a 21 yr old body builder looking to fight someone for looking at your gf. i dont plan on any bars except maybe the akron brewing co. I plan on tailgating and doing athe gameday thing on campus not in a bar

Where have you had trouble downtown? I think it's a rather non-threatening place to go. The Lux, perhaps? I'm not a dance club kinda guy, so I don't really know about that joint. But the places I have been - Bricco, Brubaker's, Lockview, Crave, Northside, 69 Taps, Luigi's, Big City Chophouse, Barley House, Mocha Maiden, Musica & of course, the Ohio Brewing Company - have been fine by me.
