Fans wishing to bring an RV must purchase a specialized RV parking pass prior to the day of the game. To purchase a pass call the Athletics Ticket Office at 1-888-99-AKRON.And how much is that gonna cost? I'm not really that excited for tailgating at the new stadium, i have a feeling things are going to be done wrong and it's going to be a MAJOR step down from the Rubber Bowl or any other major college football gameday.

I disagree.I loved parking in the Rubber Bowl lot. It really turned into a great party spot within the last 5-or-so years. What will be lost, tailgating-wise, is the ability to park wherever you want, however you want. The ability to be really obnoxious and have such ample spacing amongst fans that no one really cared if you were obnoxious. The ability to play football, golf, beer pong, whatever, without limits. All that was unique to the Rubber Bowl and is lost. But that's the price of moving up. Paying a premium to park an RV is VERY common at football games. I still think people will drink, play corn hole, cook out, play music and whoop it up @ Infocision. I know I will. For those students who want the beer pong, funnels, 110 decibel music etc, they will need to party in someone's off campus back yard, then walk to the game. That's the way it is done everywhere else.

Actually, another longtime fan suggested to me the other day that we go party in the field at the Rubber Bowl, and then ride a shuttle up to the game. I think the traffic and parking are going to be much more challenging, as I've said many times. But since our group will be there very early, we won't have to face many of those challenges. I've just always hoped that the close-to-game-time problems won't dampen the spirits of those casual fans who might be wanting to become a part of Zips football.

I think we should evaluate the situation on September 13th, it will be a much more intellectual thread.I'm looking forward to tailgating ON campus, should be an awesome atmosphere.

Well i wasn't necessarily complaining about paying for the RV. I just was asking if anyone knew the price. But i have a feeling that they will crack down on fun times and keep it from being a true college tailgate. And beer pong and beer bongs ARE part of tailgating. What's going to happen to my 20 foot beer bong?!n39111567_32222921_6868.jpg

If it is, it will be the first intellectual thread on parking this board has ever had.....

That must have been the work of future engineers.

So I see on the map the parking lot near the gooch is black. Which means its not available for game day parking. Does that mean it's just off limits to the general public because it's resident parking? I live in the gooch and I was hoping to tailgate there will a lot of people, does anyone know if thats allowed?

OH the humanity. I just threw up in my mouth a little. You could blast someone's head off with that thing!

In the docs with my season tickets, it says that RVs will have to pay per spot that they take up - a parking pass will give you one free space in a lot, then it will be $5 more for each additional space.

THANKS! That pretty much answers my question. Now about my beer bong.

I scoped out the tailgating today and the lot by the computer center is adequate. Grass area is at a premium however....I think the rules for games and tossing the ball in the grass is completely unreasonable. It sure would be nice if some people could park on the south end of Buchtel common.
