g-mann17
That's the unanimous opinion of the Syracuse bloggersWhat's really sad, is that they made a bunch of homer predictions and the best record they could come up with was 4-8."The Zips return a team that largely made us look stupid, their defense is likely better, our offense is likely worse, but we'll win, and by double digits even." So let's get this straight... we have a potent offense that made them look stupid, we have (presumably) a better defense, and yet they still think they will win by double digits?wow... just... wow. That is a special kind of stupid right there.
LosAngelesZipFan
Random thought-- if we had SU's schedule, would we have any issue consistently filling 30K seats? 45k?
ziptrumpet87
Random thought-- if we had SU's schedule, would we have any issue consistently filling 30K seats? 45k?I believe attendance would go up; 30-45k... not sure. Maybe 25k consistently with 45k possible for games against Cincy and Pitt.
Zips fan
Random thought-- if we had SU's schedule, would we have any issue consistently filling 30K seats? 45k?We would struggle to fill 30K with that schedule if we had Syracuse's team. The city of Akron has not bought in that The University of Akron is worth going to see unless they are winning(even then support is not where it should be). If you put a pathetic Syracuse team here they would not draw anyone either. Syracuse built a fan base that is sticking with them(to some degree) through their down cycle. Akron needs to build that type of fanbase, people who are die hard Zips no matter what.
tbozeglav
^^^ agreed. Now, if it were Syracuse's schedule with our current team... there's a chance it would be a little more promising, but I would seriously doubt that we'd be able to consistently pull 30-35k. We might be able to for the high-profile games, but outside of that, I doubt it.
ZachTheZip
Akron is a better team, and Syracuse is a worse team. They might have a better coach and be more disciplined, but they have absolutely zero depth. By the time we play them, they'll be worn thin.I'm looking for a 21-point win at least. Captain Kangaroo
They might have a better coach and be more disciplined, but they have absolutely zero depth.I have news for you -- If Syracuse has a better coach and better discipline than the Zips...Syracuse will win on October 24th. Most MAC schools would be ecstatic to have any player on Syracuse's 2-deep. I think this Zips team is very well coached and disciplined. We will beat the Orange by at least 10. johnnyzip84
They have a brand new HC and a brand new QB, arguably the most important individuals on any college football team. I really need to hold any assessment of the 2009 Orange until they at least play ONE game.

UADavid
http://www.syracuse.com/slideshows/080908_AKRON.ssfI promise this is my last reference to the victory over the Orange, but I just couldn't help myself from one last slice of tasty schadenfreude, courtesy of the depressed Orange nation. Besides, who can resist any show with Zippy as a frontliner?Doom in the Dome --------------------johnnyzip84 aka OBC Mug #91Sorry jz84, couldn't resist. "Doom in the Dome II", and next year we can have the "Inquisition at the Info".

"We did average 6 yards a carry rushing against them" Congrats, that's 2 yards less a carry than everyone else averaged against us last year. lance99
A fluke? There was no fluke here. They got beat. I remember that they had someone from their newspaper(it's on this site somewhere). saying that it was no fluke! Can it happen again? You bet it can!
