GP1 Posted September 14, 2009 Report Posted September 14, 2009 Kickers are extremely hard to come by.Just in my time at the University we have had two kickers sign contracts with NFL teams. It isn't THAT hard!?!?NFL teams bring in kickers like American Legion Posts bring in kegs of beer. As good as Derr was, he didn't make the NFL.I stand by what I said. There aren't very many good kickers out there to pick from. Quote
johnnyzip84 Posted September 14, 2009 Report Posted September 14, 2009 I love how deep our RB situation is. I was sitting with some friends not familiar with the team and they thought we had put in our bench towards the end of the second quarter because they kept seeing different RBs. I told them no, we just have a lot of good running backs.I notice a few times the fake bootleg, RB up the gut play did work when Rodgers was in. Maybe because he is an actual threat, unlike Jacq. The blind homeless guy outside the stadium knows Jacq doesn't have the ball.Maybe they are trying to set up Indiana for this play? They've used it so often now, Indiana has to expect the fake, and gun for the RB. Maybe they'll let Rodgers run it more instead?Stec is allowed to have 1 bad punt per year. He has used his lifeline now. It's time for good punts. The kicking game is still horrible. What is it going to take to get a good, consistent kicking game here?I could have sworn that we played the 3-4 quite a few times during the game. Did anyone else notice this?It definitely appeared to me that we were in a 3-4 fairly often.I was pretty surprised that QB formerly known as CJ7 didn't hurt us with his legs at least once or twice. This is more evidence that these LBs are playing really well right now. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted September 14, 2009 Report Posted September 14, 2009 About the punting...We all saw Stec booting monster 60+ yard punts during warmups, right? He looked like a top NFL punter out there. Then the game starts and he kicks a 27-yard shank. This tells me that there is one of three things going on: 1) the punt protection is lacking and he's getting hurried, 2) he has some kind of mental shutdown when the pressure is on, or 3) he's being told to do it that way by the coaches. I hope it's not #3. Quote
Hilltopper Posted September 14, 2009 Report Posted September 14, 2009 It looked to me that there was quite a wind blowing from north to south. Stecs' bad punt was into the wind. Quote
