skip-zip Posted September 13, 2009 Report Posted September 13, 2009 WOW...I'm sure yesterday's excitement had many of us paying little attention to what was going on around our conference, but some really interesting things happened.1) CMU's win over Michigan State in Lansing is HUGE for our conference. 2) I'm stunned at the way BG played against ranked Missouri. I was counting on them being a non-factor in the East. 3) Would have really liked to have seen EMU pull off that win over Northwestern. 4) Regardless of what people think about Colorado, Toledo provided a noticable win for our league. 5) Indiana will provide a big challenge for us next week, if they play the way they did against a WMU team that I expect to be good in MAC play. 6) And as always....no surprise here....Can't State is still Can't State Quote
UA Fan Posted September 13, 2009 Report Posted September 13, 2009 CMU has beaten MSU a couple of times before...I'm a little surprised they keep getting scheduled.Miami has a combined score of 0-90 after 2 games.Ball U. is quite a turnaround story. The line on our Indiana game should be very close. Mistakes, kicking, turnovers will be huge in this one. Quote
Zipsrifle Posted September 13, 2009 Report Posted September 13, 2009 So last night while I'm watching the 10:00 news, waiting for the report on the Info, I hear about every 45 seconds about the Ohio State game. I couldn't watch the game because I have cable. As I cruise the internet looking for the breaking news reports on the first game at the Info, again, I am pummeled by what seems to be play by play updates from Columbus. I head to bed, weary from an amazing day yesterday. This morning, I get up, eat breakfast, play with the kids, surf the net for some more stuff on the Info all with the TV on. I just realized that in 2 hours, I haven't heard ANYTHING about OSU. I assume they lost because, obviously, we are all behind them 100%, until they lose, and then we just shut up and act like "What, there was a football game in Columbus Yesterday?" Hey, the first game at the Info will get more notice this way... Quote

Dr Z Posted September 13, 2009 Report Posted September 13, 2009 I pay 4.95 extra to have the cable company block any Columbus State games. Quote

Superb pics...And what do you know...Zero coverage of you know who...They need to play more late games...O-H......N-O Quote

They might be the surprise team of the MAC. They won't do nearly as bad as last year.Ball St going from first to worst. If they keep playing like this, EMU is going to pass them.EMU had a good game against Northwestern. Got beat by game ending field goal. May be second surprise team of the MACCentral over Mich St. Good win for Central, though they would not have had it if not for the defensive offsides on their first missed field goal. That lineman was probably the most lonely guy in the world following the game.Other thoughts:I'm not sure what to think about WMU. They got spanked by Michigan, and fell short of Indiana. Are those two schools that good, or is WMU having a down year? I expected better performance from them.Buffalo letting Pitt put up 54 is embarrassing.I expect the west to come down between Central, NIU, and Toledo. Central should take it.BG worries me. Played a decent game against the #25 team. Beat Troy thoroughly too (granted Troy got spanked by 50 by the #1 team in the country. Down year for them).Buffalo may still recover, but I don't think they're the front runners this year. I think BG and Akron will be in the hunt by the end. Thank god we don't play them until late in the season. Our game against Central is huge. I'm way more interested in that than the Indiana game. If we can chalk up 2 more wins in the next 2 weeks, no doubt, we're the team to beat. If not, it's going to be another typical MAC year that probably goes down to the wire, and some unlooked for team has a real shot. Quote

The guy wins games. He has won at least one championship and takes his team to bowl games. The word good comes to mind, not overrated. However, is there a team in college football that blows more games than Michigan State. Off sides on a last second fieldgoal gives CMU another chance to win and they do. Quote

Off sides on a last second fieldgoal gives CMU another chance to win and they do.I have the MAC Gameplan cable scheme, so was able to watch CMU's win. Our Captain is right, in that LeFevour throws a lot of bad balls. He threw poorly on some passes that would have been long outs or TD's. However, it seemed, every time he threw a bad one yesterday, he came back and threw a great ball that kept CMU in the game, and he finally had time -- thanks to poor D -- to win the game. But, did anyone notice how long the Spartys had to throw? CMU had no pass rush at all -- so the secondary had to really be sticky to give the Chipps a shot. I do think they'll be double-figure faves vs Akron. Sorry for having to say that. Quote
