Since he never really played, I guess losing Cloud is not too big a deal. Signed 4 from Glenville last year...will one ever see the field?

Cruz grayshirting? He turned down NC State to get an Akron gray shirt? That's interesting.

As late as yesterday I had heard Marshall was "working through some issues" but that he'd be in school this fall? Guess things change, huh?

Penny and Shargots never were in any plans as far as I know, so no big loss.

Cruz turned down North Carolina, not NC State. Will be on campus in January and will take online courses at Akron U.

About Cloud flunking out, I have some thoughts on this.

I graduated from U of A with a Bachelors and Masters Degree. While I believe UA is a great school and I am proud to have graduated from there twice, it certainly was not Harvard. During my graduate work, I was one of the few English speaking teaching assistants and a kid had to sit down at the beginning of the term and map out a plan for how they were going to flunk my class.

Are these guys really that stupid or are they just lazy.........or both? There are plenty of 100 and 200 level classes that could keep even the most stupid student from flunking out.

That's a good idea. Crack on CK...........our board's already been taken down to just 5 or 6 posters from 4 times that many 18 months ago...............let's piss him off and see if it go down even further and still be viable.

Thanks for the updates. I remember an article in the PD last year that Cloud had a kid before his senior year. He came pretty close to dropping out of school but Ginn convinced him to stay. I still think you take a chance on a kid like that 9 times out of 10. Too bad, the best thing that he could do is get a degree so that he will be able to support his family. I wish him well.

Bummer about Marshall. I heard that he was up to 250LBs and was in great shape coming into camp. I expected him to get playing time this year.

Question on grayshirts - do you do that because there are not enough scholarships or to sit out and try to pass the test to not lose the year? I thought Jarvis was the former. Is Cruz the latter?

The title of this thread is Zips on the roster but not in camp. None of the guys I listed are in camp, for a variety of reasons. Cloud is still on the roster, but not in camp. So are all the other guys. You've been proven to give bad information on here before, so that's pretty much the pot calling the kettle black.

Marshall will not be a Zip. He's enlisted in the army.

Back in the day when I was at UA, I had to go to the study center and watch the athletes on the other teams goof off while I studied. I'm with you that if someone wants it enough, they can get a degree from U.A. Maybe not in any dicipline, but in some area. Athletes are given so many chances to make it in the classroom that there is no excuse not to keep up the grades.
