xu9697
I have agreed both in this thread and in the past= students are the key. With that being said, if the student turnout is poor already, would it really be any worse with an "off campus" downtown arena? And, would an "off campus" downtown arena with possible restaurant/shopping and maybe even hotel attached make it more of an attraction for "Joe Akron" and "Jack NE Ohio" ? It doesn't take that much to fill the JAR.Also, I think that next football season we'll really see an improved student turnout, and lots more tailgating across campus. Last season it was tentative, people feeling out what is allowed to take place and whether it would actually be fun. Now that it's been proven, things should pick up. Maybe it will carry over to basketball and soccer.

Dave in Green
There are X number of factors that affect attendance, some short term and some long term. Pretty much all the major ones I'm aware of have already been discussed at length on ZN. All of the points mentioned in this thread have some affect on attendance. At some point discussions like this one run out of steam because all the points are already mentioned and everyone has stated their opinions. Unless someone has access to some good research, or has the time and inclination to research various attendance issues in more depth, I don't think there's a lot left to say in this thread that hasn't already been said. xu9697
6,800+ last night for OU. That is a nice turnout, though I know the arena seats 13,000+.
