Captain Kangaroo
Hey... a wire-to-wire win against a quality opponent, and no leg crap! Hell...the women were down 9 in the 2nd half and pulled out a win?! Is the the dawning of a new era?Seriously - congrats to both men's and women's teams. A great Wednesday night. zipsfan13
Nice job last night, guys! I didn't get to see much of the game, but from what I did see, they played well. After Saturday's game I was really starting to have doubts about how they would do on the road the rest of the season, but I'm beginning to have confidence in them again. gozips19
great win! to give up 30pts to kool on the road and still win going away is a major step in the right direction. with the tough part of the schedule out of the way akron has to be considered the favorite to win the mac. We were double-teaming him all night. We were lucky that the rest of the WMU squad couldn't shoot worth a damn.

That was almost unthinkable two weeks ago?

I believe Pierce had a teammate with 18+.this is what worries me about the zips, we have no one that will put up 20+ points a game, let alone 30+. We need big scorer, to put points on the board and draw double teams that will open up the game for other players. I mean its not very good when your highest scorer is only averaging 1 pts a game. Dr Z
It would be nice if we had a shut down defender to put on those kind of guys.
Dave in Green
It doesn't bother me what one outstanding shooter may do against the Zips in a given game as long as the Zips defense holds the opposing team to fewer points than the Zips score. What would have bothered me is if the Zips had collapsed on Pool all night and held him to 10 points, but in doing so made it too easy for other WMU players to score, and lost the game. The most important thing about team sports such as basketball is overall team results, not individual stats. The Zips won because they played good overall offense and defense as a team. The Zips could have won at Buffalo if the team had played as they did against WMU. I mean its not very good when your highest scorer is only averaging 1 pts a game. That's true that we don't have a "go-to" scorer but its also nice that other teams can't key on one guy. For the WMU game, we had guys at 11,11,10,10,9,9. Awfully tough to figure out who to guard when scoring is balanced and comes frm all over. The problem with the "big scorer" is that when he has an off-night, the rest of the team has trouble picking it up. Of course a team like ours, if we have a few guys with an off-night, it prodcues the same effect. Still, I'm happy with the offensive production in general.
